The Locksmith is responsible for the installation, repair, remodeling, and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems and security devices, computerized access control systems, door openers, closers, and hardware. The Locksmith will be maintaining an effective inventory with readily available supplies used in fulfilling customer requests in a timely manner.

Pay: $26.65 / Hour

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:

    Secret Clearance Required.

  • Must Be able to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • Willing to drive and work at other sites.
  • Well spoken and comfortable with writing emails.
  • Clean appearance and willing to work if called during after hours.
  • Engage in the performance of all phases of locksmith work, including but not limited to the maintenance of mechanical and electronic locks
  • Install and maintains locking system, including but not limited to mechanical locks, electronic locks, computerized locks, and access systems Manage activities and requests from external auditors during annual audit examination
  • Aid in the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date electronic records of all locking devices and keys in use on the facility to include pertinent information on personnel to whom keys are issued Train senior and staff accountants as appropriate, to ensure that accounting team activities are completed accurately in a timely manner
  • Maintain electronic locks and the user databases needed to operate the locks and maintain access control, programming, and repair of Card Access Control Systems
  • Diagnose problems that arise from inoperable mechanisms on outside/inside doors, card access controllers, and card swipe pads; investigate communication problems involving computer modems; installs electronic magnets on perimeter doors and maintains the wiring and power supplies that control them
  • Develop and carry out preventive maintenance schedules and applies them to the activities of the locksmith office as directed
  • Create requisitions; maintain responsibility of the equipment, materials, tools, and supplies necessary for proper installation; maintenance and repair of locking mechanisms
  • Submit written recommendations and reports as required and performs other duties as assigned

The Locksmith will oversee and administer the duty requirements in accordance with contract, PBNDS, ACA, OSHA and all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. The position will report to the Assistant Facility Director or designee.

+ Conduct scheduled and unscheduled physical inspections of security locks, keys, and the Key Watcher. Performs routine maintenance and/or minor repairs as needed.
+ Manage materials, parts, and equipment, including inventory tracking, record keeping, and supply procurement.
+ Maintains an accurate key inventory, records / logs of key assignments and locks for buildings.
+ Responsible for changing all safe combinations at least every 12 months or as necessary. Maintains a record of safe combination changes for compliance purpose.
+ Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of authorized 24-hour institutional key assignm
+ Responsible for identifying and investigating compromised locks or locking mechanism Must submit a written report to ICE and PMO prior to end of shift.
+ Replacement of worn or damaged keys and proper disposal of unserviceable key
+ Conducts scheduled and unscheduled tests on emergency exit doors to ensure locking mechanisms and associated safety devices are in good working order.

**Qualifications**
+ US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years.

+ Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
+ Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
+ At least 21 years of age.
+ Possess a valid state driver's license.
+ Must exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.

This occupation requires opening, repairing, installing, recombinating and adjusting of
locks and safes; duplicating and fitting of keys; installation, repair and maintenance of
various electro-mechanical and entry control devices.
Plan sequence of operations and determine methods to use when fitting keys for opening,
changing, repairing, recombinating and adjusting key, combination, or other types of locks, including padlocks and safes. Ensure timely combination changes on security locks, safes, safe masters, vaults, and electro-mechanical entry locks. Advise administrative and security personnel of locking hardware requirements; interface with facilities and security personnel to determine locking hardware and keying needs.
Perform routine maintenance on locking devices, including the replacement of parts as
well as the repair and fabrication of parts to ensure the continued security that the
locking devices provide.
Work independently or with others to install and maintain door hardware such as panic
hardware, latch bolts, doorknobs, handles and mechanical cypher locks, electrical
locks and strikes and related systems.
Perform such typical operations as decoding and opening locks by use of lock picking
tools, dismantling or other methods, repairing by replacing worn or broken parts or
adjusting, recombinating to several different key variations such as master, submaster,
and service key, or to different numbers or letters, if a combination lock; replacing,
installing or changing locks. Repair, maintain and change safe and vault combinations,
including forced entry of safes and vaults by electrical drill, electro-arc, thermal lance or

key and lock record files as required. Set up and make new coding for master and
submaster lock systems.

on Mas-Hamilton XO-7 and XO-8 locks, Kaba-Mas X09 / X10 spin dials and S&G
2740-B, LKM10K installations, and government required lock systems for open storage areas/classified safes Set up and make new coding for master and submaster lock systems.Perform functional check and repair access control systems for electronic locking
devices. Connect/disconnect for troubleshooting and fault isolation.
**Basic Qualifications:**
- Ability to apply a complete knowledge of locksmith theory and practice, including construction characteristics of locks and use of key code books and/or computerized reference materials.
- Ability to use arithmetic involving decimals and fractions; to read and interpret various lock diagrams and blueprints; to set-up and operate key duplicating and code machines and their accessories; to use micrometers, hand tools and locksmith tools used in repairing locks and in fitting and making keys.
