**Job Description:**
The Locksmith is responsible for the installation, repair, remodeling, and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems and security devices, computerized access control systems, door openers, closers, and hardware. The Locksmith will be maintaining an effective inventory with readily available supplies used in fulfilling customer requests in a timely manner.
**Pay: $26.65 / Hour**
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:

+ Maintain electronic locks and the user databases needed to operate the locks and maintain access control, programming, and repair of Card Access Control Systems
+ Diagnose problems that arise from inoperable mechanisms on outside/inside doors, card access controllers, and card swipe pads; investigate communication problems involving computer modems; installs electronic magnets on perimeter doors and maintains the wiring and power supplies that control them
+ Develop and carry out preventive maintenance schedules and applies them to the activities of the locksmith office as directed
+ Create requisitions; maintain responsibility of the equipment, materials, tools, and supplies necessary for proper installation; maintenance and repair of locking mechanisms
+ Submit written recommendations and reports as required and performs other duties as assigned

The Locksmith will oversee and administer the duty requirements in accordance with contract, PBNDS, ACA, OSHA and all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. The position will report to the Assistant Facility Director or designee.
Schedule: Monday through Friday (8) hour workdays. May be required to occasionally work greater than 40 hours per week, weekends and holidays or adjust schedule to meet job requirements. May be called in for on-site key, lock, or Key Watcher emergencies during off hours.
**Responsibilities**
+ Develops and implements an adequate preventive maintenance program and schedule for servicing keys, locks, locking mechanisms and the Key Watcher.
+ Conduct scheduled and unscheduled physical inspections of security locks, keys, and the Key Watcher. Performs routine maintenance and/or minor repairs as needed.

SOSi is seeking a Facilities Maintainer/Locksmith. The structural tasks performed may include but not be limited to carpentry, masonry, sheet metal, welding repairs and alterations, locksmithing, and minor movement and reconfiguration of furniture.
**Essential Job Duties**
+ Constructs, remodels, retrofits and repairs interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick.
+ Works from blueprints, specifications, drawings and instructions to design, build, remodel, retrofit, maintain and repair various types of facilities and structures.
+ Inspects completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspect related work by contractors; estimate cost, time and materials for carpentry projects.
+ Plans, installs, repairs, alters, and/or replaces furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and finishes to include doors, flooring, ceilings, and cabinets as necessary. This also includes inspection, maintenance, repair or improvement of roofing components, windows, exterior drainage, plus exterior walkways and covers.
+ Maintain key accountability on the BEST Key Code system plus all locks, safe and vault doors, dial and cipher locks, to include installation, combination changes, disabling or penetrating inoperative locks (such as a Mass Hamilton X-09/X-10) IAW DoD Lock.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Active in Scope TS/SCI security clearance.
+ 2-4 years professional experience in structural maintenance, renovation, and/or construction including doors, walls, floors, ceilings, and windows.
+ Must be familiar with locking mechanisms and key fabrication.
+ Knowledge of welding and sheet metal fabrication for minor maintenance and repair of flashing, ducting, fencing, turnstiles, signage, and other structural components and be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical gates.
+ Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
+ Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Possesses a GSAlocksmith certification.
+ Understanding of the Air Force or Army culture, language, and expectations for mission success.
**Work Environment**
+ Working conditions include a combination of an office environment and outdoor activities. Outside working conditions include potential exposure to high temperatures, and humid conditions.

**Description:** IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.
This occupation requires opening, repairing, installing, recombinating and adjusting of
locks and safes; duplicating and fitting of keys; installation, repair and maintenance of
various electro-mechanical and entry control devices.
Plan sequence of operations and determine methods to use when fitting keys for opening,
changing, repairing, recombinating and adjusting key, combination, or other types of locks, including padlocks and safes. Ensure timely combination changes on security locks, safes, safe masters, vaults, and electro-mechanical entry locks. Advise administrative and security personnel of locking hardware requirements; interface with facilities and security personnel to determine locking hardware and keying needs.
Perform routine maintenance on locking devices, including the replacement of parts as
well as the repair and fabrication of parts to ensure the continued security that the
locking devices provide.
Work independently or with others to install and maintain door hardware such as panic
hardware, latch bolts, doorknobs, handles and mechanical cypher locks, electrical
locks and strikes and related systems.
Perform such typical operations as decoding and opening locks by use of lock picking
tools, dismantling or other methods, repairing by replacing worn or broken parts or
adjusting, recombinating to several different key variations such as master, submaster,
and service key, or to different numbers or letters, if a combination lock; replacing,
installing or changing locks. Repair, maintain and change safe and vault combinations,
including forced entry of safes and vaults by electrical drill, electro-arc, thermal lance or
by non-forced coding for master and submaster lock systems or by non-forced entry
methods such as manipulation or use of computerized safe dialers. Maintain complete
key and lock record files as required. Set up and make new coding for master and
submaster lock systems.
Perform combination changes, combination retrieval and special lock-out procedures
on Mas-Hamilton XO-7 and XO-8 locks, Kaba-Mas X09 / X10 spin dials and S&G
2740-B, LKM10K installations, and government required lock systems for open storage areas/classified safes Set up and make new coding for master and submaster lock systems.Perform functional check and repair access control systems for electronic locking
devices. Connect/disconnect for troubleshooting and fault isolation.
**Basic Qualifications:**
- Ability to apply a complete knowledge of locksmith theory and practice, including construction characteristics of locks and use of key code books and/or computerized reference materials.
- Ability to use arithmetic involving decimals and fractions; to read and interpret various lock diagrams and blueprints; to set-up and operate key duplicating and code machines and their accessories; to use micrometers, hand tools and locksmith tools used in repairing locks and in fitting and making keys.
- Ability to pick locks, combination locks, safes, as well as knowledge of drilling or burning of safes and locks.
- Requires ability to interact well with all personnel, work well with little supervision, and be a self-starter.
- Normally requires a high school education, or the equivalent, and four years of experience in a commercial lock shop, or the equivalent experience in government or
military lock shop service.
- Required to maintain State Locksmith License.
- Ability to obtain GSA certificate as a repair and inspection technician.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance and General Service Administration Certification

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
+ Strong communication and organizational skills.
+ Must be able to lift and carry equipment and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
+ Valid driver's license required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Certification from an accredited locksmith association (e.g., ALOA).
+ Familiarity with school campus security protocols.
