This position is architecturally focused on design, engineering and deployment as well as providing tier 4 support for Enterprise/ Cloud Networking related software, hardware, applications, databases, and tools. This may include applying domain knowledge and using technical skills to support customers, resolve problems, provide training as required, functional/technical requirements, documentation, estimation, planning, and project management.
**Responsibilities**
+ Provide architectural roadmaps for business capability enhancements as well as for growth for the network engineering domain.
+ Regularly deploys, maintains, upgrades, and supports existing Enterprise/ Cloud Networking and related systems to ensure operational stability for business groups.
+ Elicits functional requirements and documents for use by the application development team, the architecture team, and other operational teams.
+ Implements hardware and software changes based on new and existing system requirements.
+ Implement system health monitoring tools and monitors network/ cloud hardware and software systems to ensure that established SLAs are met.
+ Negotiates with vendors to ensure that all system requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.
+ Keeps abreast of all innovations and changes to AutoZone systems to ensure having the appropriate tools and training to provide quality support.
+ Performs functional / technical requirements gathering, documentation, estimation, planning and project management on mid-size projects or parts of large projects.
+ Assist with hardware procurement following our internal processes.
+ Trains overall team in functional areas, business process, architectural design, roadmaps, etc.
**Qualifications**
+ Minimum of 15 years of network engineering and 3-5 years with focus on cloud network engineering experience required. (GCP experience is highly desirable)
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
+ Hands-on experience regarding cloud networking (GCP preferred), understanding of core infrastructure/network services in the cloud, TerraForm, automation, logging/monitoring is required
+ Google Network certification is a big plus
+ Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid data center technologies
+ Experience with Cisco Networking (routers, switches, Meraki APs) infrastructure desirable
+ Expertise of Cisco Viptela SD-WAN
+ Good understanding of Routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, NAT and security protocols like TACACS/RADIUS
+ Experience with network management systems such as Solarwinds, NetQoS
+ Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining Cisco-based networks
+ Requires at least five years' relevant experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities.
+ CCNP/CCIE preferred
+ Solid problem solving, relevant domain and analytical skills.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with peers as well as executive leadership.
+ Expertise in multiple technical areas.
+ Functional/technical requirements gathering and design documentation.
+ Medium-sized project management - estimating, planning, controlling, and execution.

General Summary:
The Network Security Architect is responsible for the development and standardization of comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization's network infrastructure, develop/test proper identification, and response procedures for Ritter Operations team. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, security technologies, and industry best practices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Designs and implements secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, Service Provider DDOS, intrusion detection systems (IDS), log management, general service provider access/infrastructure security suites, and other security devices;
- Conducts risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies;
- Develops security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Collaborates with Architecture, Engineering, and operational teams to integrate security into system design and development processes;
- Establishes standards for monitoring network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents promptly;
- Conduct red/blue team exercises;
- Stays current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends in the cybersecurity landscape;

About the Role
As a Network Development Engineer at xAI's Memphis data center, you'll jump into the role building and scaling our global network with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. Working onsite with passionate, high-achieving teams, you'll tackle technical challenges, balance speed with quality, and grow your skills in a fast-paced tech environment. Expect to configure, troubleshoot, and deploy network systems, ensuring robust connectivity to power xAI's mission of accelerating human scientific discovery through AI.
This is an in-person role based in Memphis, Tennessee, with approximately 30-40% travel required.
Responsibilities
- Be onsite in our Memphis data center or any other datacenter working alongside our SiteOps engineers and other network engineers.
- Troubleshoot physical network devices and links, test to ensure they operate as expected and put back into production.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of tooling, automation and operational procedures
- Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair of devices outside data centers.
- Trouble ticket generation and response; carrier interface and escalations
- Liaise with third parties to fix and resolve issues
- Creation and execution of scheduled changes, process & documentation
- Participate in a 12x7 call-out rotation and shift work based on the time zone you're hired in
- Software/firmware installation
- Monitor, manage, and respond to network based alerts
- Automate away repeatable work using python or Ansible like tools
- Project work that comes in from upstream Net. Eng teams i.e datacenter tech refresh, decommissioning older devices and provisioning new ones
- B.S. in network engineering or a related technical discipline
- 1+ years of Network Engineering experience troubleshooting physical and logical issues
- Beginner to intermediate logical and physical understanding of break/fix operations including:
- Network layer 1,2,3, and 4.
- Beginner to intermediate understanding of network fundamentals
- Routing, Switching, IP services, and network automation
- Working knowledge of at least two internal routing protocols, its configuration and day to day operation
- Beginner to Intermediate working knowledge of Backbone and Datacenter networks
- Beginner to Intermediate working knowledge of TCP/IP
- Vendor certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA and JNCIP
- Vendor Hardware Cisco, Juniper, NVIDIA, Avocent
- Understanding of unix/linux shells and scripting languages (python preferred)
- Ability to learn new networking protocols, programming/scripting languages, and vendor operating systems as necessary
