**Title:** Clinical Research Coordinator - Oncology
**Facility:** St. Anthony's Hospital
**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead and implement clinical trials under the direction of the Principle Investigator in accordance with the standards of good clinical practice, federal and state regulations and institutional review board (IRB) requirements.
+ **Duties may include:**
+ Facilitate protocol development, Complete trial feasibility
+ Ensure study start-up completion worksheet is complete with required protocol specific training of research staff and ancillary departments
+ Ensure adherence to the study protocol and schedule of events, patient visit scheduling for protocol related procedures
+ Screening
+ Study recruitment
+ Preparation of IRB reports
+ Establishment and maintenance of regulatory documents
+ Performing the process of informed consent and HIPPA authorization
+ Clinical follow-up of study subjects including biometric data and specimen collection
+ Creation and completion of source worksheets
+ Building and maintaining EDC systems
+ Collecting source data for electronic data capture (EDC) systems
+ Building and completing Case Report Form (CRF)s
+ Assess patients for trial-related and non-trial related symptoms
+ Reporting of adverse events
+ Serious adverse events
+ Dispensing/accountability of investigational product
+ Participate in additional business activities to recruit new trials or meet recruitment goal
+ Mentors new team members to protocol and site processes
+ Must work independently and use sound judgment while performing job duties.
+ Perform duties as assigned under the scope of related certification or licensure.

+ Required - Bachelor's degree in related field in lieu of experience

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A BluePearl Oncology Technician is someone who is self-motivated, a quick thinker, and is able to multi-task efficiently. Good communication skills and compassion are a must. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years’ experience in a specialty veterinary hospital. The right candidate will be responsible for treating and monitoring patients as well as supporting the clinician with patient care and client communication.

As an Oncology Technician, you will:

  • Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

  • Understand normal vital and lab parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

  • Perform phlebotomy.

  • Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.

  • Calculate basic medical math.

  • Set up appropriate materials for chemotherapy administration.

  • Safely dispense and administer oral chemotherapy agents.

  • Safely dispense, reconstitute and administer SC/IM chemotherapy agents.

  • Check chemotherapy agent calculations and dosages.

  • Properly shave and wrap for an IV catheter for chemotherapy infusion.

  • Have the knowledge of chemotherapy extravasation and what to do if it happens.

  • Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough history including current medications and dosages, response to treatment and side effects, intensity and duration.

  • Discharge Oncology patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as how to handle patient eliminations after chemotherapy, how to handle oral chemotherapy at home, chemotherapy and radiation side effects and oral medication administration.

  • Maintain solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.

  • Address client concerns and answer them appropriately during visits, updates, or after hospitalization. Quickly and competently facilitates incoming calls.

  • Have the knowledge of the tumor types.

  • Understand diagnostic work-up protocols (including oncology specific terminology for each tumor/cancer type per each hospital’s protocol.

  • Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

  • Maintain hospital for day to day function and operation (stocking, cleaning, etc.).
