Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where they will provide specialized care to critically ill children and adolescents. RNs will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of military and civilian healthcare professionals to deliver timely and individualized interventions, ensuring optimal outcomes for our young patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, monitoring vital signs, managing complex medical conditions, and implementing protocols to create a safe and supportive environment for all children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill children and adolescents, conducting thorough assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs and overall health status.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of military and civilian healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans for pediatric patients.
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment for both patients and staff.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate vital signs and patient progress accurately and in real-time to ensure timely interventions.
  • Prepare, manage, and operate necessary medical equipment and supplies relevant to pediatric care procedures and treatments.
  • Actively support the healthcare team during critical interventions by anticipating needs and providing prompt assistance.
  • Educate parents and families on treatment plans, developmental milestones, and available resources for ongoing care and support.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with all institutional policies and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:
  • Must have a valid unrestricted RN license from any US State or territory.
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Minimum of 1-2 Years of experience in specialty in the last 3-5 years.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or prior experience in a military or government healthcare facility is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases, radiation, and high-stress environments.

Other Special Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

Compensation: Min: $18hr Max: $55hr

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR professional licensure at time of hire required.

Additional Preferences

1 year of Pediatric ICU experience; BSN preferred
