About the Role
The Andrologist/Endocrinologist Laboratory Technician plays an essential role in the fertility journey by providing exceptional care and laboratory expertise to support patients and their treatment plans. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Andrologist/Endocrinologist Laboratory Technician ensures accurate testing and processing, contributing directly to patient care and outcomes.
We are seeking an Andrologist/Endocrinologist Laboratory Technician to join our dedicated team at Reproductive Gynecology & Infertility , located in Westerville, Ohio . This is a full-time, onsite position , working Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM . One week per month, the shift will adjust to 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM . Rotating holiday coverage is also required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform blood endocrine testing, including hormone assays for FSH, LH, prolactin, estradiol, testosterone, and related reproductive hormones.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized laboratory equipment, including the Toso machine, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Collect, process, and analyze blood samples for hormone testing, providing timely and accurate results for patient assessments.
- Conduct comprehensive semen analysis, including sperm count, motility, morphology, viability, and preparation for procedures such as insemination and cryopreservation.
- Adhere to laboratory SOPs, OSHA guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and CLIA standards for quality and compliance.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, assist with equipment maintenance, and participate in quality control (QC), quality assessment (QA), and quality improvement (QI) programs.
- Support embryologists with preparatory work, patient/specimen identification, and accurate record-keeping.
- Educate patients on specimen collection procedures and provide clear instructions.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies and practices, including semen analysis, anti-sperm antibody testing, sperm cryopreservation, and endocrinology testing.
- Participate in clinical research projects related to reproductive endocrinology and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
- Track patient progress and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, medical technology (MT), clinical laboratory science (CLS), or medical laboratory science (MLS) or have completed twelve (12) semester hours of chemistry; twelve (12) semester hours of biology; and twenty-four (24) semester hours of chemistry, biology, or clinical/medical laboratory technology in any combination.
- Minimum of a "B" average in relevant laboratory science courses.
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant lab experience outside of course work ().

The duties of this position includes but is not limited to accurate, precise, and timely patient test results for the diagnosis and management of human illness. Position utilizes automation and computerization, and manual methods. Responsible for quality control and instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. May be involved in teaching and training, but not in a leadership position. Position handles blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid and other body fluids. Specimens may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other blood borne pathogens.
Responsibilities And Duties1. Uses critical thinking, academic theory, facilitation and leadership abilities, and advanced customer service skills. Examples include but are not limited to: The performance of complex analysis of all body fluids and tissues. Determining the reliability of all analytic data before releasing as patient measurement for diagnosis and treatment. Interpreting information to make judgmental decisions and troubleshooting technical procedure and instruments. Utilizing knowledge of medical correlation of data, laboratory parameters, physiologic factors, medication effects, and specific medical treatments to assess the validity of laboratory data. Using appropriate testing techniques to evaluate new testing methodologies and practices. Demonstrating safety and infection control practices. Providing mentorship to new lab associates and students.
2. Customer service to clinicians and clients. Must be comfortable and professional on the telephone, able to communicate with physician staff office, clinical staff, and all laboratory associates. Must be able to communicate with patients and their families, using service recovery when necessary.
3. Quality assurance functions and equipment maintenance functions. Performs quality control checks on each procedure, equipment, reagents, stains, etc. Documents and interprets all QC data used by technologists to determine validity of patient results and verify instrument performance. Documents and reviews maintenance logs to assure optimum system performance, guaranteeing valid data and eliminating costly, time-consuming equipment failures.
4. Continuing Education and Competencies. Remains current in field. Trains new employees and students. Maintains competencies, mandatory education requirements (ACE).
5. Miscellaneous Duties. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree (Required)ASCP - American Society for Clinical Pathology - American Society for Clinical Pathology
Four year Bachelor of Science Degree. Registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. AMT Certification is considered equivalent to ASCP. Or completion of all required course work for Bachelor's degree and completion of ASCP Certification . Superior customer service skills. Experience in an automated clinical laboratory
