Overview SOSi is seeking Chinese linguists for work in Northern Virginia and travel. In this role you will integrate into a client team to provide a full range of language interpretation skills including supporting engagements with your translation, transcription, and interpretation skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage with client personnel to further mission. Travel is required. Essential Job Duties Read, write, and speak Chinese at a fluent or native level. Provide interpretation support in a variety of settings including formal meetings. Support could include simultaneous or consecutive interpretation while preserving the nuance of speaker. Gist, summarize, and translate Chinese printed, electronic, or audio/visual material into clear, understandable, and idiomatically correct English. Leverage knowledge of culture, media, and language of target area to provide customer insights from translated materials. Use a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office products and SharePoint. Must be able to learn new tools and applications specific to the customer. Support 30 to 70 day trips, with travel accounting for about 50 percent of time. Minimum Requirements The federal government requires all linguists on this contract to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This security clearance requires U.S. citizenship. Prior to beginning work, candidates must complete the process for a fully adjudicated TS/SCI (with poly) security clearance. SOSi will sponsor qualified candidates for clearance. Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of three years of experience in translation support. Candidates must possess native or near native competency in Chinese. Competency will be determined by standardized language exams which must be completed as part of the application process. Candidate must be familiar with the culture, media, and linguistic nuance of Chinese. Candidates must possess excellent English written and verbal communication skills. ● Help select, assign, manage, and train item/passage writers and educators to develop items based on standards, cognitive complexity, and item development best practices
● Facilitate and support customer meetings and provide content assessment expertise
● Facilitate activities related to test construction and review of composed test forms
● Consult with the customer as required, including participation in planning, status, review meetings, etc.
● Work closely with test development managers, other content developers, psychometricians, and other Pearson groups
● Perform other duties as assigned
● Some travel required
**Qualifications:**
● Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience required
● Five years' experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred
● Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required
● Some experience in large-scale educational measurement preferred
● General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred
● Outstanding oral and written communication skills
● Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences
● Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events
● Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs
**Compensation at Pearson** is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The minimum full-time salary range is between $65,000 - $75,000.
