Job Description

As a CFI Senior Associate, you'll assist clients by applying traditional and cutting-edge valuation approaches and methods to a variety of analyses - all with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. You will perform valuations of financial instruments such as equity instruments in complex capital structures, options, warrants, redeemable debt, convertible debt and embedded derivatives, and contingent claims, such as earnouts and contingent considerations, utilizing statistical and financial concepts such as Black-Scholes model, Monte Carlo simulation, and binomial lattice model.
From day one, you'll be empowered by the greater CFO Advisory team to help clients make the moves that will help them achieve their vision and help you achieve more, confidently.
Your day-to-day may include:
+ Perform valuation analysis and modeling
+ Utilize advanced statistical and financial concepts inbuilding models including Monte Carlo simulation, binomial lattice model, and real options
+ Oversee and perform data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, economic and statistical analysis, valuation analysis, and industry research
+ Oversee and perform research to establish positions on valuation matters, document management, referencing from source documents to analysis, and file preparation
+ Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively
+ Maintain active communication with engagement team regarding interim and final deadline, percent of completion, etc.
+ Other duties as assigned
You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline required
+ Minimum 2 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross industry clients at a national level with experience in business valuation and financial instruments required
+ Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
+ Progression towards certification/license such as CFA or other quantitatively intensive certification and valuation credentials such as CVA, ABV preferred
+ Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Stata, C++, R, R Studio, Python with Numpy, Pandas, and/or MATLAB experience preferred
+ Highly analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling, econometrics, statistics, and regression analysis
+ Accounting, finance, financial engineering, and economics knowledge; proficiency in US GAAP or IFRS preferred
+ Can travel as needed. Expected travel is up to 15% per year

Your day-to-day may include:
As a CFI Associate your primary responsibility will be executing high quality projects and services from beginning to end under the supervision of experienced CFI leadership. Associates are expected to aid project teams with deliverables, perform detailed financial analysis, and build strong working relationships with clients. In addition, as a CFI Associate you will focus on continuously developing your technical and professional skills to build and expand your role in the CFI and Valuation & Modeling practice.
Throughout engagements, CFI Associates will:
+ Gain an understanding of client operations, processes and business objectives and utilize that knowledge to add value on Valuation & modeling engagements
+ Perform market company and industry research in connection with ongoing engagements
+ Perform detailed financial analysis and interpret various financial and operational information
+ Assist with engagement administration including engagement set up
+ Work closely with the project team to promptly resolve client issues
+ Oversee and perform data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, economic and statistical analysis, valuation analysis, and industry research
+ Oversee and perform research related to engagements as well as document management, referencing from source documents to analysis, and file preparation
+ Write opinion letters and reports
+ Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively
+ Maintain active communication with engagement team regarding interim and final deadline, percent of completion, etc.
+ Other duties as assigned
You have the following technical skills, qualifications, and abilities:
+ Master's degree in Finance, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering or other quantitative fields
+ Minimum overall and major GPA of 3.0/4.0 preferred
+ Willingness and ability to work additional hours and travel to various client sites (as needed)
+ Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
+ Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
+ Effective project and time management skills for handling multiple priorities and simultaneous projects
+ Enthusiasm to learn through a combination of structured, on-the-job and self-directed training
+ Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment
+ High level of expertise with computer skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    As a Business Valuations/Complex Financial Instruments Managing Director, youll perform professional business and complex instrument valuations such as equity derivatives, fixed income derivative models, equity instruments in complex capital structures, and contingent claims, utilizing advanced statistical and financial concepts such as stochastic processes, Monte Carlo simulations, binomial lattices (equity and interest rage models), and real options for your Complex Financial Instruments team within the CFO Advisory Services solution family all with the resources, environment and support to help you excel.     Your day-to-day may include:

    • Leading projects and services in business valuation analysis and industry research
    • Meeting or exceeding targeted sales and managed revenue metrics
    • Overseeing and performing data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, strategic analysis, economic and statistical analysis, due diligence, valuation analysis, damage calculations and analysis, and industry research
    • Writing opinion letters and reports
    • Maintaining active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively
    • Maintaining active communication with engagement teams regarding interim and final deadlines, percent of completion, etc.
    • Mentoring and developing junior staff and actively participating in recruitment activities for your team

    You have the following technical skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree required. Advanced or Masters degree preferred.
    • A minimum of 13 plus years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing clients at a national level.
    • Relevant certification such as a CPA, CFA, CVA, ABV, AVA or ASA required. If you do not hold a relevant certification at time of hire, you must be able to earn one within 18 months of starting with Grant Thornton.
    • Prior business development and sales experience is required.
    • Prior experience in practice and team development is required.
    • Prior consulting experience required.
    • Optional for industry-focused roles: Extensive experience in the (insert industry name) industry required.
    • Matlab experience preferred.
    • Highly analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling, econometrics, statistics and regression analysis.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases.
    • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to travel as needed. Expect 20% travel.

    The base salary range for this position in the Firm's San Francisco and San Jose offices is between $280,400 and $67,200.

    The base salary range for this position in the Firms New York, NY office is between 263,300 and 438,800.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Serve as the finance partner supporting Instrumentation for the Spine business and collaborate with the supply and demand planning teams, business unit, franchise, and regional finance teams, commercial operations, and field audit and compliance teams
    • Maintain processes and reporting for the regions and US Ortho platforms to gain a comprehensive view of instrument spend including capital expenditures, deployments to the field, instrumentation at distribution centers, loose goods, instrument scrap, depreciation, taxes and legal accruals, and profit-in-inventory (PII)
    • Support profit-in-inventory (PII) process and TM1 PII tool by assisting with monthly submissions, access requests and reviews, and security and compliance requirements of the system and data used for the calculations
