Job Description:

• Engage as trusted advisor with client leadership team, demonstrating responsiveness to priorities while also providing actionable strategies and recommendations to solve challenges, improve processes, and achieve client goals

• Serve as main Point of Contact for Development teams for cross-team collaboration within the Program, removing communication stovepipes, enhancing awareness of work in progress, and promoting collaborative problem solving for challenges encountered during enhancements and maintenance efforts

• Enable a relentless improvement mindset for development teams and program-wide through engaged promotion of intellectual curiosity, clarity on empowered contributors across all team members, active listening, and embracing change

• Promote development team and program actions to mature the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practice in place to include but not limited to the following:

o Encourage organizational alignment of the ART (AGile Release Train) with client strategy and goals, and business objectives

o Foster collaboration among teams to facilitate flow of work, removing impediments and helping to escalate issues through problem-solving actions

o Enable internal engagement in Innovation and Planning opportunities to promote continuous improvement

o Help manage risks, constraints, and dependencies that impact the ART's goals

o Identify and track metrics that enable data-driven decisions and improvements

o Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) events like Program Increment (PI) Planning and ART Syncs

• Provide back-up support to Scrum Masters and assist in fulfilling their duties if on leave
• Maintain weekly communication with the client's Product Manager and Product Owners to ensure teams are operating in lockstep with one another and recognize risk areas that can be mitigated as a group
• Manage, monitor and report on the capacity, utilization, and forecasting of the development teams to determine a development and release schedule that maximizes throughput
• Promote a strategy with tactical steps that can be implemented and monitored leading to improved code quality practices, automation testing, test-driven development, shifting of security to the left, and requirements traceability

Minimum requirements:

• Due to federal requirements only US Citizens who do not possess dual citizenship with another country may be considered. Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a government-sponsored clearance process for position of public trust prior to start.

• Bachelor's Degree

• 7+ years of Direct Management Experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools

• Ability to think quickly, act swiftly, and adapt

• Comfortable tasking peers, briefing senior leadership and briefing groups of people

• Experience with creating and delivering formal contract deliverables from start to finish while brokering input across the program from capability SMEs

• Experience with managing Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, Developers, and Quality Assurance engineers while ensuring they are complying with program processes and norms.

• Experience working in a scaled Agile environment

• Agile Certifications/Trainings

Desired skills and qualifications:

• Experience developing dashboards with PowerBI

• Previous experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or practicing the role and responsibilities as laid out by SAFe

• Development experience a plus: Java, XBRL, HTML, API Development, JSON and/or REST services

• Application Modernization experience. Have helped to transform a monolithic application to microservice architecture

• Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift platform

Responsibilities include:

Leidos is actively seeking a passionate, detailed-oriented problem-solver to serve as a **Missile Flight Software Developer Lead** in support of the Hypersonics Division. As the central point of contact for software development, you will lead the software team on our hypersonic initiative in both offensive and defensive programs, focusing on developing, integrating, and testing major software capabilities such as mission execution, power and thermal monitoring, sensors and instrumentation, telemetry, command and control, communications, networks, mission planning, and system infrastructure. These positions may include development using embedded computing technologies such as drivers, flash memory, bootloaders, board support packages, PCBs, JTAG, real-time operating system (RTOS), single board computers, system-on-chip (SoC), and hardware interfaces and protocols. Primary Responsibilities.
+ Software Lead: Provide oversight and technical direction of a team of software developers through software lifecycles.
+ Software Development: Experience with specification, design, development, integration, installation/deployment, and maintenance of flight software for missile/weapon platforms, unmanned systems, and/or ground control/support systems 
+ Programming Languages: Skill in one or more programming languages used in applications and front end software, such as Python, .NET/C#, Java, C++, Qt, Swift/Objective-C, and XML.
+ Agile Development: Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like the Atlassian Jira, Trello, Monday.com.
+ Problem-Solving: Ability to comprehend changes, determine their impact to existing implementations, synthesize them into working designs, describe them (written and verbal), and methodically make updates with appropriate understandings of dependency chains and risk.

+ Mission Support Software: Creating software and infrastructure for ground test facilities, autonomous logistics, and operator training.

Basic Qualifications.
+ A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university. Candidate should have  **12 years**  of relevant experience.
+ Experience in development of software products or simulations using C, C++, Rust, C#, or Java is required. Candidate must demonstrate competency of development in at least one of these languages with an ability to work independently and collaborate closely with team members.
+ Individual must be a self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills
+ Aptitude with Linux and Windows operating systems and their respective development tools/IDEs, scripts, debuggers, and administrative features is also expected.
+ Proven significant experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems
+ Strong technical background in large integrated products.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

+ Prior work in DoD Missile, Reentry Vehicle, or Hypersonics fields.
+ A detailed understanding of the top-down systems engineering process for architecture development and bottoms-up verification
+ Thorough understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods
+ Experience with Agile/Scrum, unmanned aircraft or robotics, embedded development, digital communications, real-time development, and software safety.
+ Knowledge of various development tools for testing, requirements, design, build and release, regression testing, configuration management, collaboration, and issue tracking can also be beneficial. 
+ Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance is a plus
+ Ability to stay focused and succeed in dynamic and fast paced environments
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
+ Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information
+ Demonstrated solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of Hypersonic systems
