This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

We are looking for a skilled, motivated engineer, to join a team developing manufacturing automation and enterprise systems to drive efficiency throughout the company. As a software engineer focused on the visual factory, you will be a key member of a team of experts supporting engine manufacturing developing software platforms to enable real-time analysis and decision-making. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products using pioneering software and hardware technologies. We use the latest AWS technologies and approaches to build distributed, highly available systems to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new tools and applications that enable manufacturing teams to automate existing processes and standardize on performance-based benchmarks.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of successful enterprise-scale systems and services in support of our fulfillment operations and the businesses they support.
  • Produce quality user documentation for defining integrations between enterprise-level applications.
  • Adopt software DevOps technologies to solve software automation problems.
  • Identify feature gaps between enterprise systems and develop remediation plans.
  • Share knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering standard methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in computer science, information science or related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability translate domain expertise into applications.
  • Either Python, JS, C#, or Java must be a primary language.
  • Proven experience with full stack software development using React, Python, Fast API, AWS, Spring Boot, and Node JS 3+ years' Experience with EMQX, IoT Core brokers, Elastic Load Balancers, Lambdas, Cloud Watch, S3, Docker, EKS, ECS, Datadog and Rancher K8s
  • Experience in event driven messaging
  • Experience developing APIs and building applications on them in a production environment
  • Experience standing up servers, databases, and enterprise-level applications. Strong familiarity with SQL and database systems.
  • Familiarity with the migration of software from development to production.
  • An internal drive to deliver high-quality results with the ability to seek out requirements and propose solutions.
  • Solid understanding of version control systems
  • Have an ability to take technical ownership, step in to help team members as needed, collaborate with team members to identify, and fix technical problems.

The Staff Engineer Software position will be focused on software test as an architect and New Development Integration Lead responsible for the design, implementation, and manage the integration and testing strategies of a large software system. This role will ensure that different modules and systems work together seamlessly and meet quality standards. They are responsible for creating test plans, automating tests, and ensuring that the software functions per the requirements specification. The selected candidate will also support the development of new features in a legacy system. The role will require support for new feature development for full software life-cycle development.

Your responsibilities will include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, and architecting complex solutions supporting the building and test plan execution, performing quality reviews, and triaging and fixing operational issues. This role requires you to have hands-on technical experience and a can-do approach towards environment automation and management along with continuous improvements. You will develop, modify, and maintain customized or standardized applications using software engineering best practices and standards, and participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. A solid experience in scripting (bash, PowerShell or python); C/C++, Java, or other OOP languages, in a Linux environment is required.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to take ownership of hard problems and drive to a solution, while working in a team environment and provide leadership for its implementation. It is critical that you understand the software development life cycle and have an in-depth knowledge of automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data sets. The Software Engineer will participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The Software Engineer will apply technical expertise in solving complex integrations problems. The Software Engineer will interact with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers. Therefore, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required. A solid experience in bash scripting, C/C++, or other OOP languages, in a Linux environment is required. An active in scope DoD secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access clearance is required. The candidate will design, implement, and manage the integration and testing strategies of a large software system. The candidate will ensure that different modules and systems work together seamlessly and meet quality standards. The candidate is also responsible for creating test plans, automating tests, and ensuring that the software functions per the requirements specification.

+ Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.

+ Ability to analyze the system as a whole and determine potential impacts of integrating new technologies.

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Staff Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 12 or more years software engineering experience, or Master's degree and 10 or more years' software engineering experience or a PhD with 8 or more years of software engineering experience.
+ Ability to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems.
+ In-depth working knowledge of the full software development life cycle.
+ In-depth working knowledge with the Agile software development process.
+ Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like Git and Confluence.
+ In-depth working knowledge and experience with C/C++, Java, or other OOP languages.
+ Expert knowledge and experience developing software in a Linux and Windows environment.
+ 10 or more years experience with configuration management using industry standard tools and processes.
+ Ability to work well across multiple engineering disciplines.
+ Experience with integration strategies, monitoring and Improving Testing Processes, developing automated plans, and documenting test results and findings
+ 10 or more years experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
+ Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
+ 10 or more years experience with defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla)
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a special program access clearance

+ Active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with program PAR.

Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Responsibilities
