**About the Role:**
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Software Development to lead the engineering strategy and execution for our next-generation AI and Generative AI platform. **Key Responsibilities:**
Technical & Strategic Leadership:
- Define and own the technical vision and strategy for our AI platform, with a strong focus on enabling scalable, responsible, and performant GenAI capabilities across multiple product lines.
- Translate research and architectural prototypes into robust, production-ready systems that serve real customer use cases at scale.
- Collaborate closely with AI architects, research scientists, product managers, and other engineering leaders to ensure alignment between long-term vision and near-term deliverables.
Engineering Execution:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of complex, AI-powered software systems-from roadmap definition through design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Establish and enforce strong engineering practices, including CI/CD, observability, code quality, technical design reviews, and security best practices.
- Drive platformization and reuse by building core AI infrastructure and services that are extensible, efficient, and easy to adopt by downstream teams.
Organizational Leadership:

**Minimum Qualifications:**
- 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years focused on AI/ML or GenAI systems.
- 8+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams, including at least 2 years at the Director level or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience building and developing SaaS Enterprise Solutions
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale, production-ready AI or ML infrastructure, platforms, or applications in a cloud-native environment.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, modern software architectures, and frameworks for AI/ML (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire teams, influence technical strategy, and engage with executive stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field (PhD preferred but not required).

**Pay Range**
The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $284,280.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
