This role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with MAS SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience administering SQL Server 2012 to SQL 2019 at a L3 level.

  • Experience with SQL Azure (IAAS, PAAS, SQL DB)

  • Act as a senior operational/escalation DBA

  • Resolve monitoring alerts related to disk space and CPU/memory resource contention, instance availability and similar basic monitoring metrics.

  • Help manage replication and HA technologies, namely log shipping, transactional replication, SQL Server Availability Groups, database mirroring, and Oracle RAC.

  • Manage HA/DR setups to meet or exceed application RTO/RPO targets and implement solutions for managing backup and recovery.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues including but not limited to investigating infrastructure issues, query execution plans, query store, generate traces, execution plans, identify and resolve performance issues, address deadlocks/contention.

  • Evaluate on premise SQL workloads for migration to Azure and recommend appropriate Azure services

  • Install, configure, and maintain a SQL footprint in Azure, including SQL on Azure VM, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database.

  • Migrate on-premise SQL workloads to Azure.

  • Automate routine database tasks and processes using tools like PowerShell and Azure Automation.

  • Use available toolset (OpsRamp, SQLSentry, etc.) for database monitoring & tuning.

  • Support change requests by deploying SQL scripts or other code fixes as relayed by the business.

  • Support software developers to drive proper coding practices and assist in the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures/functions/triggers/etc.

  • Engage in continuous sizing analysis to forecast growth and work with storage team to ensure adequate space on all servers.

  • Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).

  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders.

  • Learn and exercise relevant business procedures, processes and understand data flow, criticality and dependencies.

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support database environment.

  • Support ancillary systems in the database environment (Delphix, monitoring applications, etc.)

  • Other general DBA administration tasks

  • At least a minimum of 8+ years of experience

The expected base salary ranges from $77,000-$55,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.

We are seeking a Data Engineer with 4-7 years experience in SQL & GCP.

OVERVIEW

We are looking for a go-getter person who can define:

  • Analytic strategies to meet the demands of business requirements
  • Technical requirements of the analytic solutions

  • The person will be part of the Data Engineering team for a major Insurance client. He/ She will work with different stakeholders as SME for data engineering

  • Develop dashboards for visual representation of performance using visual reporting tools
  • Engages in technical problem solving across multiple technologies; often needs to develop new solutions
  • A typical day will involve working with stakeholders in an individual contributor capacity.
  • A suitable candidate should have 4-7 years of experience in a similar role and should possess a go-getter attitude. He/ She should be able to deal with ambiguity.
  • Experience in property and casualty insurance/actuarial projects preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLSETS
  • Common Skillsets:
    • 4+ years of experience in analytics ETL and associated data engineering jobs.
    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform services
    • Excellent communication & presentation skills
    • Experience in managing SQL codes and collaborating with customers on model evolution
    • Good knowledge of SQL, Big Query and GCP, Good to have- Data modeling experience
      • Should be able to work on a problem independently and prepare client-ready deliverables with minimal or no supervision
      • Good communication skills for client interaction
  • Data Management Skillsets:
    • Ability to understand data models and identify ETL optimization opportunities. Exposure to ETL tools is preferred
    • Should have a strong grasp of advanced SQL functionalities (joins, nested queries, and procedures).
    • Strong ability to translate functional specifications/requirements to technical requirements
