Job Description:
BROAD FUNCTION
The Senior Systems Administrator works within the ITS Department, and reports to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Infrastructure. This position provides quality service and responsive end-user support, to college employees and students, related to IT enterprise infrastructure, including administration of servers, Active Directory/Entra, cloud infrastructure platforms and application suites, security, virtualization platform system, network services, data storage, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery. This position is part of a service team working in collaboration with the ITS infrastructure team and front-line support teams and is responsible for ensuring a highly reliable, available, and secure technology environment that supports academic, administrative, and student computing for the College.
This is an in-person position located on our campus in Syracuse, NY. The person in this role may be on-call and may be required to remote in or provide on campus technical support outside of standard business hours.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, testing, implementing, monitoring, and maintenance of the following, across the enterprise:
- Servers (Windows & Linux).
- Directory services, managing accounts.
- Microsoft Office enterprise productivity suite and MDM.
- Security and vulnerability management.
- Infrastructure services, such as DNS, DHCP, NTP.
- Cloud infrastructure platforms and services.
- Virtualization platform, including hosts, vSAN, vNetwork, and VM's.
- Data storage in SAN environment.
- Backup and restoration of servers and systems, and disaster recovery.
- Authentication, SSO, encryption, certificate management.
- Document configurations and manage change processes.
- Act as a conduit to support various campus services and enterprise applications in collaboration with other departments and vendors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers and contractors.
- Position is on-call and may require remote or on-campus technical support outside of standard business hours.
- Provide backup coverage to other IT staff.
- Other duties as assigned by members of the ITS Leadership Team within scope of job duties.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least 5 years of hands-on technical expertise in the areas stated in this position guide. OR
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency and at least 9 years of hands-on technical expertise in the areas stated in this position guide.
- Ten (10) years experience with Linux server administration.

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to manage our IT Enterprise Field Services team and provide expert-level end-user and CAD application support. This is an exciting, on-site opportunity in Syracuse, NY, to work with cutting-edge technology and play a critical role within a leader in the U.S. defense community.
You will be responsible for leading the Enterprise Field Services team while also acting as a collaborative force, working directly with engineers, designers, and IT teams. This role is vital to maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical CAD and PLM software used throughout our shipbuilding projects in a high-performance computing (HPC) setting. If you are passionate about managing technical teams and have a deep expertise in Linux environments with a mindset for automation and performance tuning, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
- Lead and manage the Enterprise Field Services team, planning and prioritizing their workload, tracking emergency problems, and fostering team goals and morale.
- Manage and oversee change management, incident management, and monthly patching for all applications. Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, and applications are up to date with the latest security and patching protocols.
- Work closely with the SOX Compliance and IT Cyber teams to ensure all software delivery, applications, and processes meet security rules, regulations, and compliance standards, including DFARS, NIST, and CMMC. Establish IT best practices and security policies.
- Handle software vendor selection, renewals, and license procurement.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for shipbuilding CAD applications like Siemens NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, and CATIA.
- Manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers and workstations (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, MAC).
- Develop scripts (Bash, Python, or Ansible) to automate system administration tasks and software deployments.
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues related to CAD applications, graphics rendering, and system resource utilization.
- Assist engineers and designers with technical issues related to CAD software, providing training and best practices when necessary.
- Work closely with IT infrastructure teams, software vendors, and engineering departments to optimize system performance and contribute to the IT Roadmap.
- Provide onsite technical support for end-users, including the deployment and troubleshooting of various IT assets (e.g., desktops, laptops).
- Set up new equipment and devices; set up and maintain workstations; provide appropriate access to applications, systems, and data
- Train end-users on new devices and technologies
- Provide guidance and explain policies and procedures to IT support staff and end-users
- Communicate and translate technical information to non-technical end users; maintain communication and monitor incident through resolution
- Participate in the maintenance, implementation, troubleshooting, and end-user support for applications, mobile devices, and servers
Requirements: I have already done that or have it!
- 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
- 3+ years of experience in CAD application support (preferably in shipbuilding, aerospace, or manufacturing) and 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent project management, organization, and planning abilities.
- Proven leadership skills that inspire technical teams to achieve success.
- Experience with software delivery, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and software development life cycles.
- Expertise in CAD software (Siemens NX, AutoCAD, etc.) and PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or Ansible).
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC), GPU-accelerated CAD applications, and networking concepts.
- Experience working in DFARS, NIST 800-171, or CMMC regulated environments.
- Reliable transportation to travel among sites as needed. Travel may be up to 25%- 30% and on occasion may include overnight stays

Job Description:
BROAD FUNCTION
The IT Technology Support Analyst provides general hardware, software and printer technical support; formulates internal team processes and procedures; facilitates and performs work order requests; and responds to customer support via face-to-face and through various technological methods. This position is responsible for implementing state of the industry operational efficiencies and effective project management and customer support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide IT support to the College's broad community, working directly within the IT Services team. Responsibilities include technical analysis, troubleshooting, end-user assistance, project coordination, and implementing process improvements.
- This position provides technical support and administration to the following areas:
- Standardized PCs, laptops and printers
- Mobile devices/wireless network connectivity
- Standardized software applications and operating systems
- Standardized computing image development
- Configuration management systems
- Directory services
- General departmental data systems
- General departmental software systems
- Departmental CRM systems
- Effectively serves as a project lead for specific IT projects and implementation plans.
- Conducts thorough and extensive research focused on the development of future IT projects in support of IT departmental goals and objectives.
- Conducts proper and professional management practices being mindful of appropriate business principles.
- Stays current with general technology trends and emerging technology as required by the college and department.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalent, plus a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and support
- Background in Group Policy creation and implementation
- Experience supporting macOS devices and administration via JAMF
- Familiarity with Advanced Threat Protection solutions
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA A+
- Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent)
- Help Desk Institute (HDI) certifications
Proficient technical knowledge related to PC hardware/software, printer hardware, and supporting administrative systems
- Ability to develop new and innovative processes in support of continuous improvement
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Proven ability to successfully operate within a customer service framework
- Proven ability to successfully complete multiple projects within scope, budget and schedule.
- Experience with operational change and problem management procedures
- Knowledge and experience in project management principles and practice
- Ability to work in and embrace a team-focused environment
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Additional Information:
- Salary range is: $44,000 - $55,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Daily, you will be responsible for supporting the financial advisors and staff by consulting with and training them on a variety of key software programs and modules. You will also be responsible for providing outstanding technology support to the network office, district offices, financial advisors, and staff. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Providing ongoing consulting to understand financial advisors' practices and those who need it (i.e. spending time with someone who is having difficulty with the Customer Relationship Management software or Personal Planning tool, etc.). You will enjoy a good deal of leeway in the design and delivery of the consulting portion of your role.
- Providing in-office individual and group training.
- Following-up with individuals who attended group training, providing one-on-one instruction for 60 minutes.
- Delivering Sales School training. New reps attend a two-week training seminar which includes 6 to 8 hours of core technology training, which you will deliver.
- Providing Sales School training follow up. Post sales training, you will meet with individual reps once per week for the first six months to consult and refine/deepen initial training.
