CloudFit Software is seeking a Software Development Engineer with experience in developing cloud-based applications and working within small, agile development teams. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of key feature areas in a product(s), from reviewing upcoming work items to driving them to a successful release.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will tackle complex problems within system and architectural boundaries and work closely with customers to validate feature requirements, ensuring the highest level of customer service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the company and its customers.
Responsibilities:
- End to end ownership of a product from feature backlog to support and maintenance.
- Create, drive and adopt engineering best practices to your daily work with participation in all phases of a project lifecycle. This includes daily stand ups, code reviews, monthly engineering reviews, source code management, pipeline and deployment processes along with testing and support of production code.
- Communicate with users, other technical engineers and management to elicit requirements, describe product features and technical design topics, then translate those to deployable, supportable software.
- Actively participate in regular engineering related meetings and cross team mentoring activities.
- Participate in an On-Call rotation for production platform support.
- Negotiate trade-offs between software quality and time to market.
- 6+ years of professional application development experience in a modern software development role.
- Versatile engineer and full stack developer with demonstrated capabilities in both depth and breadth of skills. Customers, large and small, systems complex and simple, projects easy and involved, using both licensed and open-source software.
- Demonstrated experience in a customer facing position where providing technical evaluations and tradeoffs in a concise and straight forward manner are required.
- Experience enhancing or modernizing critical systems while ensuring security, availability and minimized business risk
- Experience as a mentor and technical leader
- Transformational experience with traditional on prem or SDLC businesses adopting a real-world DevOps production environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise scale distributed applications, with modern, Cloud native, applications.
- Proven ability to correctly estimate multi-phased, multi-disciplinary, enterprise level projects in schedule and time required, technical complexity, security risks, support needs, and reliability concerns.
- Shown expertise in work management via Agile type environments and familiarity with Kanban type tools, Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Experience in automation of unit, regression, and feature testing.
- Strong background in computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms
- Current Federal Security Clearance or ability to obtain (US Citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding, or experience building, application instrumentation and/or monitoring systems
- Demonstrated understanding of cloud and data storage design patterns and technologies
- Experiencing leveraging Machine Learning and AI in customer applications or internal workflows
- Cloud and DevOps certifications
- Sec+ certification
- Experience coding on top of a cloud provider, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Computer Science Degree or related technical fields
