The IT Technician will report to the Head of School/Principal/CEO and will
complete but not limited to the following duties:
Job Summary:
The IT Technician is responsible for maintaining the school's technology infrastructure, providing technical support, and ensuring the efficient operation of IT systems across departments. This role includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing networks, installing and configuring IT systems, and supporting end-users. The IT Technician will also play a key role in implementing IT protocols and best practices to enhance school operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide first-line technical support to teachers, staff, and students.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
- Act as a liaison between end users and higher-level IT support.
- Provide training and technical assistance on IT systems and networks.
- Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including computers, printers, network cards, and other devices.
- Assist in managing and troubleshooting network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN configurations, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Monitor system and network performance, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Perform system troubleshooting, repairs, and data restoration.
- Conduct routine maintenance activities such as backups and security updates.
- Maintain software licenses and upgrade schedules as required.
- Institute protocols for the use of IT across school departments and projects.
- Provide recommendations on the most suitable IT solutions for the school's needs.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure IT standards and functionality are maintained.
- Support the organization in various capacities as needed.
- Ensure cybersecurity measures are in place, including antivirus updates and data protection policies.
- Monitor and enforce IT security protocols to protect school data and systems.
- Support compliance with school IT policies, NJDOE fingerprinting requirements, and industry best practices.
- Assist in setting up IT equipment for school events, meetings, and presentations.

- Perform related duties as assigned by the IT Manager or Administration.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in network management and help desk support is desired.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, applications, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware/software issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Pays high attention to detail and has the ability to multitask effectively.
- Education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

The Information Technology Manager oversees the greater part of the IT operation, including the Applications and IT Support teams along with direct engagement of Police personnel. Consulting with the Director, Information Technology, this role supports the Platform Engineering team, as well as the administrative and budgetary functions of the entire staff. Essential Functions
- Determine the goals of IT initiatives within broad outlines provided by OIT executive management and Police Department echelon.

There are two types of Information Systems Technicians depending on whether you choose to serve on ships or submarines. Responsibilities may include:

Work Environment
As an IT, you are primarily stationed aboard ships at sea, while you'll serve aboard submarines as an ITS. You will also receive shore assignments. Your typical work environment will be a clean, climate-controlled indoor space used to house electronic equipment or computers.
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), both ITS and ITs report for specialized training, including:
Class "A" Technical School (24 weeks) in Pensacola, FL (for ITs) or Groton, CT (for ITSs) for training on Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle computer software and hardware fundamentals, automatic data processing, security, and system theory and operation.
After "A" School, Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS) will also attend submarine training:
Basic Enlisted Submarine School (8 weeks) in Groton, CT, for training in basic submarine systems. Note that this training is only for Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS).
After completing training, ITs and ITSs will receive their first assignments. ITs may be assigned to a ship, communication station or shore station, while ITSs may be assigned to a submarine, communication station or shore station. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.
Advanced Training
Advanced training as an Information Systems Technician may be available during later stages of your career. For those with further leadership aspirations and a college degree, Officer roles may be available, providing opportunities to lead and train others.
Post-Service Opportunities
Specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields in the civilian world, such as IT and network support, computer programming, web development, and information security.
Education Opportunities
Beyond offering access to professional credentials and certifications, Navy technical and operational training as an Information Systems Technician can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor's or associate degree through the American Council on Education.
You may also continue your education through undergraduate degree opportunities like the Navy College Program and Tuition Assistance and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Qualifications & Requirements
A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor and an Information Systems Technician.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a "Top Secret" security clearance, which requires a background investigation. Immediate family members must also be U.S. citizens.
IT and ITS applicants should have good arithmetic, writing and speaking skills, and should be able to use and understand computers. You should also be able to perform detailed work, keep accurate records and work well with others as part of a team. Important physical attributes include good manual dexterity and physical strength.
ITS applicants must be willing to serve aboard submarines.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving , whether you've served before or whether you've never served before .
Part-Time Opportunities
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, you may serve anywhere in the world, including locations in the U.S., at bases overseas, or in areas where humanitarian needs are great.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve serve in an Enlisted role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with the job, initial training requirements must be met.
For current or former military Enlisted servicemembers, prior experience satisfies the initial Recruit Training requirement, so you will not need to go through Boot Camp again.
For those without prior military experience, you will need to meet the initial Recruit Training requirement by attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. This training course will prepare you for service in the Navy Reserve and count as your first Annual Training.

Perform detailed analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, documenting conclusions, and providing recommendations
Utilize and continuously learning new technologies to collaborate with team members and enhance service delivery
Engage directly with client executive leadership to lead the analysis, documentation and recommendations of technology strategies, business process improvements, technology platforms architectures, custom application design, strategic roadmaps, transformation business cases and other solutions as required.
Leverage various data collection techniques, selecting appropriate method and prioritization to fit project objectives and deliverables, and applying established analytical models to evaluate findings, data, costs and benefits.
Assist in strategic planning that integrates multiple functional disciplines including accounting, finance, sales, operations, and human capital management and information technology to support the client's business strategy and operational plans.
Assist in strategic road mapping and implementation services that effectively and efficiently meet business objectives and ensure a return on investment.
Develop recommendations that leverage artificial intelligence, strategic enterprise architecture, cloud / infrastructure modernization, IT operational improvements.
Assist practice leadership in creating proposals, budgets, and work plans. Participate in other business development activities as appropriate.
You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, information technology, MIS or related field. A master's degree is a plus. MBA is preferred.
+ 5+ years of management consulting experience or equivalent required
+ Must be able to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills, critical thinking aptitude, and experience with data modeling and/or process mapping.
+ Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience working in cross-functional teams.
