The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.

  • The incumbent ensures the integration of IT programs and services; developing solutions to integration/interoperability issues; and designing, developing, and managing IT security systems that meet current and future business requirements. Also, the incumbent is responsible for applying or extending, enhancing, or optimizing the existing architecture; managing assigned projects; communicating complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel; and preparing and presenting briefings to senior management officials on complex/controversial issues. Additional work assignments include leading IT systems development projects from design to support; evaluating the effectiveness of installed systems and services; and providing advice on and devising solutions to a wide range of IT issues. The incumbent performs the following specific assignments:
  • Provides a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic requirements, outlines high-level integrated designs to meet those requirements and aligns with enterprise strategy. Defines how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way.
  • Visualizes and designs the Service's enterprise data management framework to align with enterprise strategy and execution. Analyzes across multiple data domains, defines strategies to reduce data redundancy, improve data availability, and accessibility by partnering with the technical teams, and delivers a maintainable and reusable data architecture.

BASIC REQUIREMENT :

Experience must include Information Technology (IT) related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication and 4) Problem Solving.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated through assignments that required the ability to analyze a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design. This would include defining what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project. At this level your experience must show experience independently leading the development of an enterprise IT modernization plan including methods, metrics, tools, and techniques of business process reengineering, contracting and/or procurement; Advising other IT experts throughout the agency or in other agencies on a variety of situations and issues that involve applying or adapting new theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, or practices developed by you or under your leadership; the ability to serve as senior expert and consultant to top agency management officials to advise on integrating IT programs with other programs to accomplish mission requirements.

Under general direction, the incumbent of this position functions in a key executive management role, reporting to the County Executive. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Suffolk is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 22,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Established in 1959, the College offers a wide array of transfer-oriented associate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences; business; communications and the arts; computing and cybersecurity; health sciences; and many other areas. Career-facing degrees and certificates are offered in allied health professions, automotive technology, culinary and baking, manufacturing, and many other areas. The college provides high school concurrent enrollment opportunities to thousands of students each year through both the New York Beacon program and through on-campus early college classes. Designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, Suffolk enrolls thousands of students in English Language Learning courses, and also serves more service veterans and military-connected students than any other college in the SUNY system.

SUNY Suffolk is searching for a full-time (12-month) Specialist position in the Office of Information Technology Services, beginning immediately on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College provides open access to exceptional educational opportunities and is committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college.

The Server Administrator Specialist position will report to the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services and be responsible for managing IT systems with respect to maintenance, installation, and administration; identity management, user security, and directory services; and application installation and administration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, have excellent customer service skills, and be able to work collegially and effectively in a team environment. This position may require some evening and weekend work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and repair all server hardware and software and provide support, monitoring, testing and troubleshooting server hardware and software problems.

  • Collect and analyze data and information to make recommendations regarding server, security platforms and software specifications, including costs and completion times.

  • Perform and coordinate hardware upgrade/replacement along with vulnerability scanning, security audits, patching and upgrading of all software on servers.

  • Maintain both on-premises and cloud-based solutions for communication and collaboration.

  • Support the end-user community through troubleshooting, account maintenance, and collaboration with Help Desk staff.

  • Contribute to and provide guidance and technical expertise for activities such as:

  • Design and deployment of functional and secure ldAM solutions

  • Design and deployment of Mail transport and cloud-based applications

  • Address challenges associated with access control solutions such as role-based access control

  • Federated identity with external systems utilizing multiple identity protocols

  • Work with college data owners to establish, maintain, and optimize role-based access control across the organization

  • Participate in regular security and compliance audits related to system access

  • Develop and implement methods for management, monitoring and tracking of access to information resources

  • Assist the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services with business continuity planning and risk management within the context of Data Center operations.

  • Work with outside vendors and college IT groups to maintain hardware and software for Data Center operations.

  • Responds to emergency failures due to facility outages.

  • All other duties assigned by the Administrative Director of Infrastructure Services, related to the needs of the department and/or the needs of the college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of overall IT experience, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of six (6) years of overall IT experience, including experience in server and system administration, installation, configuration and maintenance in an enterprise environment; supporting and maintaining network protocols in a server environment.

  • Three (3) years of overall experience in operating and maintaining servers (in an enterprise environment); supporting and maintaining directory services, and supporting and maintaining mail applications.

All required experience must be within the last fifteen (15) years.

  • Experience in Virtualization

  • Supporting and maintaining storage applications

  • Building and supporting IdAM systems

  • Experience in Cloud Architecture

  • Project Management experience

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Suffolk is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 22,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Established in 1959, the College offers a wide array of transfer-oriented associate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences; business; communications and the arts; computing and cybersecurity; health sciences; and many other areas. Career-facing degrees and certificates are offered in allied health professions, automotive technology, culinary and baking, manufacturing, and many other areas. The college provides high school concurrent enrollment opportunities to thousands of students each year through both the New York Beacon program and through on-campus early college classes. Designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, Suffolk enrolls thousands of students in English Language Learning courses, and also serves more service veterans and military-connected students than any other college in the SUNY system.

SUNY Suffolk is searching for a full-time (12-month) Specialist position in the Office of Information Technology Services, beginning immediately on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College provides open access to exceptional educational opportunities and is committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college.

The System Administrator Specialist position will report to the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services and be responsible for managing IT systems with respect to maintenance, installation, and administration; identity management, user security, and directory services; and application installation and administration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, have excellent customer service skills, and be able to work collegially and effectively in a team environment. This position may require some evening and weekend work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and repair all server hardware and software and provide support, monitoring, testing and troubleshooting server hardware and software problems.

  • Collect and analyze data and information to make recommendations regarding server, security platforms and software specifications, including costs and completion times.

  • Perform and coordinate hardware upgrade/replacement along with vulnerability scanning, security audits, patching and upgrading of all software on servers.

  • Maintain both on-premises and cloud-based solutions for communication and collaboration.

  • Support the end-user community through troubleshooting, account maintenance, and collaboration with Help Desk staff.

  • Contribute to and provide guidance and technical expertise for activities such as:

  • Directory solutions

  • On Premise and cloud-based applications

  • Address challenges associated with access control solutions such as role-based access control

  • Work with college data owners to establish, maintain, and optimize role-based access control across the organization

  • Participate in regular security and compliance audits related to system access

  • Develop and implement methods for management, monitoring and tracking of access to information resources

  • Assist the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services with business continuity planning and risk management within the context of Data Center operations.

  • Work with outside vendors and college IT groups to maintain hardware and software for Data Center operations.

  • Responds to emergency failures due to facility outages.

  • All other duties assigned by the Administrative Director of Infrastructure Services, related to the needs of the department and/or the needs of the college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of overall IT experience, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of six (6) years of overall IT experience, including server and system administration, installation, configuration and maintenance in an enterprise environment, supporting and maintaining networking protocols in a server environment within an enterprise environment.

  • Three (3) years of overall experience in building and maintaining servers, building and maintain systems running virtual platforms (in an enterprise environment); supporting and maintaining storage applications.

All required experience must be within the last fifteen (15) years.

Preferred

  • Supporting and maintaining cloud-based architecture

  • Supporting and maintaining Directory services

  • Supporting and maintaining IdAM systems

  • Project Management experience

  • Certification in information security, networking or server management

  • Experience working in higher education

HIRING SALARY:

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

The mission of the Scientific Data & Computing Center (SDCC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is to provide computational support for BNL scientific programs. The SDCC has an opening for a Senior Technology Analyst / Technology Engineer to take a supporting role in scientific computing for the RHIC and ATLAS programs. Within a team that manages thousands of compute and storage servers, the selected candidate will contribute to supporting these systems (deployment, monitoring, resource scheduling, etc.) and in defining the facility evolution to support massive data processing and computing needs. This position has a high level of interaction with an international and multicultural scientific community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the deployment and operations of PB scale high-availability and I/O intensive archive storage systems in support of the RHIC experiments and USATLAS.
  • Operate high-availability and I/O intensive computing workflows in support of the RHIC experiments and USATLAS.
  • Deploy and operate data-driven monitoring tools to analyze and optimize data storage interactions and computing activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in physics, computer science, or a related discipline or equivalent directly related experience on the basis of 2:1 (exp:edu).
  • A minimum of 1 year of full-time relevant experience.
  • Prior experience with Linux system administration.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and their integration with network infrastructure.

  • Ensure seamless integration of end to end auto replenishment and Inventory solutions with existing supply chain systems, including WMS and POS platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to forecasting accuracy and replenishment efficiency.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Partner with business stakeholders, including supply chain, Store inventory leadership, category management, IT, and store operations, to define requirements and ensure alignment.
  • Act as a key liaison between technical teams, business units, and senior leadership to facilitate clear communication and alignment on priorities.
  • Resolve dependencies and roadblocks, ensuring that initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of product managers, engineers, and consultants working on forecasting and replenishment initiatives.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Align team goals with organizational objectives, fostering accountability and performance excellence.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Represent the technology and innovation function in senior leadership forums, providing updates, insights, and recommendations on Auto Replenishment and inventory initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts in business-friendly language to drive stakeholder alignment and buy-in.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across supply chain and FairPrice Group leadership.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of forecasting and replenishment initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

DevOps, Cloud & Engineering Maturity

  • Modernize CI/CD, observability, and DevSecOps practices to reduce time-to-market.
  • Optimize infrastructure with cost-aware cloud engineering and performance tuning.

Product & Roadmap Ownership

  • Align product delivery with outcomes using lean sprints, feedback loops, and velocity tracking.
  • Guide prioritization, MVP scope, and tech debt tradeoffs with executive clarity.

Tech Talent & Culture Development

  • Coach tech leads, refine team structures, and embed scalable decision frameworks.
  • Create a culture of engineering excellence and innovation readiness.

AI Cost & Tooling Governance

  • Right-size AI and cloud tooling for scale, security, and budget.
  • Integrate FinOps strategies and platform benchmarking to manage innovation cost-effectively.
Requirements
  • 10+ years in software architecture, platform engineering, or product leadership.
  • Proven experience leading AI adoption, DevOps, and digital scaling in startup or growth-stage firms.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, LLM integration, and agile leadership.
  • Past CTO or technical founder experience preferred.
  • Flexible engagement availability as fractional CTO or strategic technology advisor.
