Duties

Location: Chicago, IL, United States
Duration : Long Term Contract

Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled System Administrator with deep expertise in Solaris and Linux environments. The role involves L2/L3-level support, system builds, incident resolution, and performance management across multiple Unix platforms, with a focus on cloud, cluster, and enterprise hardware environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide L2/L3 support for Solaris OS administration, including:
    • LDOM/CDOM, Solaris Zones (local/global)
    • UFS, ZFS, Solaris Volume Manager
    • Solaris zpool/app-pool filesystem management
  • Administer Linux systems (RedHat/Oracle Linux) at L2/L3 level
  • Manage HPUX servers and related OS-level activities
  • Perform core OS tasks: system builds, troubleshooting, server recovery, CPU/RAM/Disk/Network resource management
  • Provide support for incident and major incident resolution
  • Manage cluster technologies :
    • Veritas Cluster, Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM
    • Pacemaker cluster
  • Work with cloud platforms including Azure and Oracle Cloud (including Exadata on cloud)
  • Perform storage and network troubleshooting (e.g., multipath, MD filesystems)
  • Work with Cisco UCS and hardware-related activities including CRU replacements
  • Manage file systems: Veritas, MetaDisk, Multipath
  • Handle Oracle-specific tools like FMADM
  • Respond to escalations with urgency and accuracy
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Adhere to defined SLAs and KPIs (resolution and response times)
  • Follow a 24x7 support model with rotating shifts and handovers (HOTO)
