General Function
The Information Technology Support Administrator provides support to the faculty, staff, and students of the College by recommending technology-based solutions that improve ongoing College operations, facilitate completion of projects, and support faculty in teaching and research. The Information Technology Support Administrator, CNAS uses advanced professional and technical expertise to provide leadership and guidance to the College related to technology.
Description of Primary Duties
This position is for consideration of current regular full-time university employees only. The Information Technology Support Administrator provides support to the faculty, staff, and students of the College by recommending technology-based solutions that improve ongoing College operations, facilitate completion of projects, and support faculty in teaching and research. The Information Technology Support Administrator, CNAS uses advanced professional and technical expertise to provide leadership and guidance to the College related to technology.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, or more than 30 hours of courses taken in one or more of the College's disciplines.
Experience: At least three years of work experience in the related field is preferred, with an emphasis on computer, server, and website support, developing computer applications and providing computer-related training. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered for substitution of experience requirements. Experience working with an academic learning management system is preferred.
Skills: Leadership skills and ability to manage complex software systems are required. Effective verbal and written communication are required. A basic understanding of network topologies, server administration and virtualization, computer-based application software, relational databases and reporting, and technology-related diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques are required. Excellent technical aptitude in Windows/macOS/Linux desktop installation and administration and current enterprise device and software management systems, such as Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM), Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, JAMF Pro, is required. The ability to automate system administration and configuration tasks using PowerShell is required. Knowledge of Application Packaging Technologies for Windows and macOS is required.
Effort: This position connects cables which may require climbing ladders or working under desks and loads and unloads equipment such as furniture, printers, and computers and supplies such as paper, toner, and cleaning supplies from shelves up to five feet high. This position lifts and transports multiple items weighing less than twenty-five pounds (typically weighing less than ten pounds)
Other: The twenty-four-hour scope of University operations may result in the need to work evenings, nights, and weekends to support implementations or upgrades and to respond to major issues with information technology operations.
