**Job Description Summary**
The technical leader will support all business units within GNF/GVH across the Engineering organization. The role involves leading engineers towards development, verification, validation, and maintenance of computational methods for nuclear and coupled nuclear/thermal-hydraulic evaluation of boiling water and small modular reactors. The technical leader will also plan, assign, and manage resources for the team and provide coaching/mentoring to less experienced team members.
The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Nuclear headquarters in Wilmington, NC (hybrid work arrangements available), but permanent remote work arrangements are also possible.
This role is within the Reactor Physics Technology (RPT) team, which is responsible for the development, maintenance, analytics, technical consultation, and licensing stewardship of engineering computer codes, correlations, and methodologies related to Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs) and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). RPT is also responsible for supporting customers with emergent questions in the areas of reactor neutronics/thermal-hydraulics and instrumentation physics and contributes to the nuclear and thermal-hydraulic design of new fuel products.
**Job Description**
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Provide support to the functional manager to plan, assign, and manage resources and schedules.
+ Provide technical leadership for nuclear and coupled nuclear/thermal-hydraulic methodologies.
+ Establish and maintain relationships with teams and commercial leaders within the broader Engineering organization to understand upcoming work demands and provide inputs on team capability and availability.
+ Perform manager review and approval of engineering technical deliverables for GNF/GVH customers.
+ Provide critical mentoring and coaching feedback to members of the RPT team, as well as feedback to the functional manager on engineer performance.
+ Work with project managers and commercial program managers to provide work planning, scheduling, and technical support for customer deliverables.
+ Advocate for, and lead, team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
+ Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
+ Drive a team culture based on team work, integrity, candor, transparency, and execution on commitments.
+ Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with other team members on engineering/technical issues.
+ Responsible for leading the technical development, accuracy and uncertainty qualification, testing, verification, regulatory licensing, and maintenance of analytical methods required for evaluation of steady-state and transient core/fuel performance of nuclear reactors.
+ Work within an approved regulatory framework for nuclear software quality assurance for engineering computer programs.
+ Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.
+ Support teams working in various time zones globally.
+ Support the interface with various regulatory agencies (NRC, DOE, etc.) as appropriate.

**Required Qualifications** :
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline **AND** Minimum 6 years of experience specializing in any of the following areas: Reload Design & Analysis, Thermal-Hydraulic Methods, Neutronics Methods, LOCA, Containment, and Stability Analysis, Radiological Analysis, or Transient Analysis **AND** demonstrated industry experience with project management and resource allocation.
**OR**
+ Master's degree from an accredited university or college in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline **AND** Minimum of 4 years of experience specializing in any of the following areas: Reload Design & Analysis, Thermal-Hydraulic Methods, Neutronics Methods, LOCA, Containment, and Stability Analysis, Radiological Analysis, or Transient Analysis **AND** demonstrated industry experience with project management and resource allocation.
**OR**
+ Ph.D. from an accredited university or college in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline **AND** Minimum of 2 years of experience specializing in any of the following areas: Reload Design & Analysis, Thermal-Hydraulic Methods, Neutronics Methods, LOCA, Containment, and Stability Analysis, Radiological Analysis, or Transient Analysis **AND** demonstrated industry experience with project management and resource allocation
**Eligibility requirements:**

**Desired Characteristics:**
+ M.S. or Ph.D. in computational methods, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear engineering, or a closely related discipline.
+ Prior experience with neutronic methods (eg., MCNP, PARTISN, MC2-3, DIF3D).
+ Prior experience with thermal-hydraulic methods (eg, TRAC, RELAP5-3D, COBRA)
+ Prior experience with P6 Primavera
+ Experience with software Commercial Grade Dedication in accordance with NQA-1.
+ Programming experience with Fortran and Python.
+ Working knowledge of nuclear reactor core licensing, technical specifications, safety margin bases, code methodology licensing, and related federal regulations.
+ Demonstrated ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information.
+ Exceptional organization skills.

The base pay range for this position is $112,000 to $160,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on August 21st.

**Job Description**
**Essential Responsibilities**
+ Lead preparation of high thru low work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across lifecycle phases of Engineer-Procure-Construct or new product introduction using the applicable practices, guides, and tools.
+ Support project engineering or manager with understanding execution metric and status, issues, risks, mitigation or recovering plans, and be extremely proactive to identify changes in scope.
+ Drive compliance utilizing scope, detailed work planning, budget, overall schedule, applicable design processes, and discipline specific practices and tools including design and technical reviews.
+ Lead "day-to-day" operations and follow-up to ensure deliverables are produced and commitments met on-spec., on-budget, and on-schedule.
+ Coordinate proactively and inclusively for overall team across other engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives.
+ Collaborate with project management, project engineering, support functions, and others to drive project completion.
+ Identify, confirm, document, and lead resolution of technical, risk, other emergent issues.
+ Provide technical oversight and mentorship to ensure system designs and deliverables comply with requirements throughout design release to manufacturing or supplier including production, validation, installation, and commission tests.
+ Support strategy, plan, statement of work preparation, and implementation of resource loading.

**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics or equivalent 4-year technical degree.
+ Minimum of 8 years experience in heavy industrial, thermal power, or nuclear industry working in the design, analysis, implementation, test, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.
+ Minimum of 7 years experience in combination of; requirements management, system design, application or requisition engineering, analysis, change, configuration, collaboration, and document management.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent, or preferably team based, system design or technical reviews including interfacing with requirements management, independent verification and validation.
