About the Binghamton University Libraries:

The Binghamton University Libraries provides research collections in electronic (over 2 million and growing) and print (1.7 million items) formats with an extensive array of databases and e-packages (over 400), archival and distinctive printed materials in Special Collections as well as services with a variety of student-centered study spaces. With three public locations (Glenn G. Bartle Library, Science Library and the University Downtown Center Library) and an off-site Collections Management Facility, our aim is to provide access to primary research materials and resources befitting an R1 research institution.

Binghamton University Libraries welcomes applications for the new position of Sr. Assistant Dean for Collections and Technology Services. The Sr. Assistant Dean leads goal setting, planning, prioritization, design, and monitoring of workflows across a newly reorganized, broad portfolio of collections and technology services. This role oversees six major library units, builds relationships with internal and external partners, and advocates for new tools and procedures to improve efficiency and service to library users. Reporting directly to the Dean of Libraries, the Sr. Assistant Dean is a key member of the senior administrative team, working collaboratively to set and achieve strategic and operational goals while managing change. The position supervises two directors and provides strategic direction and support to over 30 staff in areas such as collections strategy, acquisitions, cataloging and metadata, digitization and conservation, storage and delivery, and technology services.

The Sr. Assistant Dean demonstrates excellent leadership skills, including excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, to establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues in an environment where flexibility and collaboration are essential. A commitment to providing excellent service, a demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive partnerships within and across organizations, budgeting, and creativity in solving problems and creating efficiencies is expected of this position. Librarianship
  • Oversees the activities of directors over two departments and five library units, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure unit, department and divisional goals align with library and university strategic initiatives. Actively participate in strategic planning and relevant assessment activities.
  • Advocate for, lead, and support the development and implementation of innovative tools and workflows to meet internal and external user needs and support Libraries' mission.
  • Consult closely with relevant personnel on budgeting for staffing needs and resources to meet emerging needs in support of growing research services and initiatives.
  • Represent libraries and the University as assigned to relevant institutional, regional, and national organizations and initiatives.

**Work Schedules:** Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. **Pay Rate:** The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $50,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. **Benefits offered:** Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
