POSITION SUMMARY: The Training Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering training programs aimed at improving the performance of both internal and external users within the Underwriting department. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to identify training needs, develop customized programs, and manage training schedules and communications. The Training Specialist will create training materials based on adult learning theories, develop multimedia e-learning courses, and manage Learning Management Systems (LMS). The Specialist will apply best practices in instructional design for both online and in-person training to ensure effective content delivery and system management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are the usual, basic and essential functions of the position. These functions are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required:

Training Development and Design:
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex, time-sensitive training programs and materials-including SCORM-compliant e-learning modules, manuals, job aids, and quick-reference guides-using effective instructional design methodologies, while managing training documentation, tools, and learning systems.
  • Partner and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and key stakeholders in course design and curriculum development to ensure the use of effective content, instructional strategies, and clearly define learning objectives.
Training Delivery:
  • Facilitate engaging, high-quality training sessions (ILT, CBT, hybrid) through in-person workshops, online training, and blended learning approaches to ensure successful learner outcomes.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and management of comprehensive training schedules, ensuring timely delivery of programs, strategic alignment with underwriting business goals and effective resource utilization.
Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback and performance data, identifying opportunities for process improvement and contributing to team efficiencies via targeted learning interventions.
  • Generate and present training reports to department managers, providing insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvements.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Lead or participate in meetings, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization to assess training needs and develop, implement, and communicate comprehensive training plans and progress.
  • Work in tandem with the Quality and Training Analysts and Agent Auditors to evaluate, create, or update processes and training resources.
  • Serve as a liaison with the HR Learning and Development team to support department and organizational training initiatives.
  • Participate in UAT and department initiatives to identify system, process or procedure changes and develop training methods for user readiness and adoption.
Additional Support Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members and leaders to improve performance and promote a knowledge-sharing culture through the development of internal learning channels and collaboration.
  • Assist with other departmental support activities as required.
Required Education and Experience: (Qualifications & Skills)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Communication, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, course development, and e-learning in corporate or institutional settings, utilizing tools such as Adobe Captivate, Snagit, Camtasia and PowerPoint.
  • 5+ years of experience in Instructor-Led Facilitation, with a demonstrated ability to deliver engaging training sessions in-person, virtually, and in blended learning environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, ADDIE instructional design model, and e-learning compliance standards (SCORM, AICC).
  • Expertise in Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration, conducting training evaluations, and performing data analysis.
Preferred Education and Experience: (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Certification in Training and Development (e.g., APTD, CPTD) or other relevant certifications.

What You'll Do:
  • Deliver one-on-one and group training (virtual and onsite) to financial institutions on Abrigo's credit and lending software solutions, with a focus on train-the-trainer education.

  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert, demonstrating deep understanding of credit and lending processes.

What You'll Need:
