Ward County Human Service Zone is seeking a Transport Specialist who is responsible for safely transporting identified clients for the Children and Family Services Division using a County owned vehicle.

Position No.

Transport Specialist example of duties:

* Safely transport children and adults identified as clients of the Ward County Human Service Zone.
* Safely transport children to and from school, therapy appointments, medical appointments, to receive mandated services, other services, visitations and placements as requested by Family Service Staff by utilizing Zone vehicles. Remain with child as directed per each case.
* Utilize the statutorily required safety equipment (i.e. seat belts, car seats, booster seats) while transporting all clients, regardless of age and ability.

Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. SUMMARY

Drives diesel powered tractor trailer combination to pick up commodities used in the production of milk products and deliver finished milk or ice cream products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Drives truck to deliver milk or ice cream products to designated destination.

Assist in loading and unloading products, if needed.

Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.

Cleans inside and outside of truck. Plugs refrigeration unit into outlet on dairy grounds when day is completed.

Maintains driver log according to I.C.C. regulation and when required.

Performs all duties in a safe way. Makes routine daily safety check of vehicle and reports any defects.

Reports all vehicle collisions or incidents to supervisor, immediately.

Assists with special projects, as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School or GED diploma. A minimum of 1 year of work related experience and training.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Class A CDL endorsements are a must and must be able to obtain a 1 year DOT Medical Certification

Job Responsibilities

* Perform pre-trip inspection on equipment in alignment with MPC policy and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Check tank truck/trailer or tractor/trailer for general operating requirements and make sure that all required equipment is available and in good operating condition. Note inspection and deficiencies on the pre-trip inspection form.


* Drive a tank truck/trailer or tractor/trailer to transport product in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Obey all applicable federal, state and local laws. Follow MPC and site specific standard operating procedures for the loading and offloading process.


* Perform post-trip inspection on equipment in alignment with MPC policy and DOT regulations. Complete all regulatory and customary paperwork. Ensure equipment is ready for the next shift.


* Communicate all incidents, including safety and environmental concerns, according to company procedures.


* Report all equipment issues in a timely manner.


* Follow, maintain, and adhere to all safety rules and operating procedures, including all DOT regulations.



Physical Requirements

* Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.


* Must be able to work on elevated spaces: 30+ feet on graded elevation.


* Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50-65 lbs.


* Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.


* Must be able to grip a steering wheel for extended periods of time.



Screening Requirements

* Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and provide consent to company for review of driving record(s).


* Must pass required drug and alcohol screening(s).


* Must complete DOT physical and maintain current medical card.


* Must pass three-year DOT safety background check and seven-year criminal background check.


* Must pass pre-trip exam and road test to demonstrate proficiency operating required equipment.
