When you join us, you'll support a variety of transportation plans, including multi-modal corridor planning studies, feasibility studies, service planning studies, long-range plans, and other transportation programs. This is your opportunity to work on engaging projects that impact communities throughout Florida and FDOT. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplined, highly skilled, and diverse team of planners, engineers, designers, scientists, and environmental specialists leading projects both locally and nationally.
This role offers motivated individuals a chance to provide leadership and influence within Jacobs' growing transportation and land-use planning practice in Florida.
In this role, you will
* Conduct planning studies, stakeholder engagement plans, and prepare planning deliverables for:
* Multimodal transportation systems
* Transit networks, facilities, and corridors
* Active transportation networks, trails, and paths
* Sustainable transportation and traffic development
* Emerging mobility and innovative technology
* Local land use planning
* Social and economic inclusion
* Prepare a range of transportation planning documents, including long-range regional transportation plans, transit plans, facility plans, service plans, and environmental studies
* Conduct needs analysis, alternatives development and evaluation, and short- and long-range strategies to support agency staff in delivering projects and programs
* Engage with clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders
* Support business development pursuits and help build strong client relationships
* Help expand the transportation planning team
* Assist with Federal, State, and Local grant applications
* Bachelors degree in planning, policy, engineering, or related field
* At least 8 years of experience in transportation and land use planning, analysis, and studies
* Demonstrated experience working on transportation projects within FDOT, including direct engagement with agency officials and local stakeholders.
* Experience in planning, land use, active transportation, transit, and/or multimodal corridors
* Project management and leadership experience as a planner, task manager, or project manager in transportation planning
* Strong client-facing skills with experience managing small and large transportation planning projects
* Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and/or the public
Ideally, you'll also have
* Previous experience with Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), Counties, or Municipal transportation projects
* A multi-faceted background, including public sector project experience
* Advanced technical writing abilities
* Experience facilitating discussions and presenting complex information
* Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS applications, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and Microsoft Office

**Job Description**
This position will require working with a technician to obtain knowledge on the installation and troubleshooting of transportation systems. The transportation systems will include: copper cabling, fiber optic cable backbones, cameras, CCTV, digital message signs, vehicle detection systems, L2 and L3 switches, LAN/WAN, specialty software packages, IP configurations, etc.

**PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS:**
A minimum of **5 years** of knowledge of ITS Highway Communication including:
+ Local Area ( **LAN** ) & Wide Area Network ( **WAN** ) communications including, but not limited to, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing; 802.3 and 802.11 with an overall basic understanding of how networks function.
+ **CCTV** : Closed Circuit Television basics and camera operations. Including Power-over-Ethernet (POE), Wireless and Cellular technology,
+ **DMS** : Dynamic Message Sign - basic understanding of DMS operations and communication protocols.
+ **FIBER** : Understanding of fiber optic principles including splice-loss, Singlemode vs multimode differences, OTDR, Fusion splicing and the different fiber connectors (ST, SC, LC, etc.)
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
+ Copper cable troubleshooting, repair, or replacement & certification
+ Fiber optic cable troubleshooting, repair, or replacement & certification
+ CCTV camera troubleshooting, repairs, or replacement & activation
+ Dynamic Message Sign troubleshooting, component repairs and replacement
+ Vehicle detection systems (both radar and infrared)
+ Other systems associated with highway ITS devices.
+ Occasionally assist with other Traffic and Signalization tasks andon-site work duties.
+ Perform reasonable additional duties and tasks determined by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Must be 18 years-of-age or older.
+ A driver's license is required.
+ Self-driven and willing to learn.
+ Comfortable using a computer and internet
+ Both "web based" and local Microsoft Office software.
+ Comfortable working outside in Houston with the various weather conditions that entails.
Education & Experience:
+ Extensive knowledge of electronics and networking preferred but not required.
+ Experience reading plans and specifications preferred.
Pre-Screen:
+ Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
+ A Driver's license is required.
+ Certifications for the systems noted above are not required but considered a plus.
Physical Requirements:
+ **RARE** (less than 10%): climbing poles.
+ **OCCASIONAL** (up to 33%): sitting, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs.
+ **FREQUENT** (up to 66%): stooping, squatting, body-twisting, climbing on/off truck, gripping, reading, bucket truck operations with elevated heights of 70-feet.
+ **CONTINUOUS** (up to 100%): manual dexterity, standing, walking, sense of touch, speaking clearly, seeing distant, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., seeing, reaching, range of motion, hearing-speech range, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ **OTHER** (sporadic)travel outside of the Houston METRO area, comfortable with elevated heights of 70-feet.

+ Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
+ Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
+ Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment.
+ Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and our client's practices, procedures, and standards.
+ Analysts will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS.
