Description The North America (NA) SFF Transportation Lead is accountable to the network design of Amazon's outbound fulfillment supply chain for SFF initiative. They will be responsible for defining the connectivity strategies that bring our customers' packages at the fastest speed and lowest cost possible. As part of the Alternate fulfillment Team, you will partner closely with other Amazon Departments such as Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Research Science in order to design connectivity that meets the needs of our customers. Key job responsibilities The SFF transportation Lead is responsible for defining the long-term strategic vision for Alternate fulfillment. This encompasses four critical areas: - Evolving SFF's Connectivity and Design: Developing a transportation network design that enables full attainment without compromising costs or fill rates. They own the end-to-end design, modeling and attainment simulation - blending technical, business, and operational considerations into the analysis. - Aligning SFF's Design with the Wider AFN: Ensuring SFF's evolution is complementary to the needs of the broader Amazon Fulfillment Network (AFN), while also divergent when SFF's total value may require an alternative approach to AFN. - Optimizing SFF's Speed to Support Customer Needs: Determining the appropriate balance between speed and cost optimization for SFF across product profiles, major MSAs and network types. - Leveraging Transportation to Improve SFF's Cost-to-Serve: Evaluating economies of scale trade-offs to enhance SFF's cost structure - how to balance truck-fill rates with connectivity and vice versa. Inherent in this strategy is a high degree of complexity, as SFF operates outside of the core network and does not function like a traditional Amazon Fulfillment Center. This requires the leader to possess a deep understanding of network dynamics, SFF's unique limitations (e.g., location, selection, vendor warehouse topology), and the technological changes within SCOT that may impact carrier mix and entitlement. To achieve this ambitious vision, the SFF Lead must wield a high level of influence and earn the trust of a diverse set of stakeholders, including senior leaders across GTS, NA Sort Center, AMZL, Retail, SCOT, and Supply Chain. In addition to defining the long-term strategy, the leader oversees the tactical aspects of a 30+ site network an launch new sites in 2026, each with its own unique constraints regarding operating hours, location, and carrier reliability. This involves direct collaboration with operational partners to address performance metrics around DEA, quality, and departure adherence, as well as owning the defect resolution process with carriers. Beyond these core responsibilities, the SFF Lead is also accountable for "Think Big" ideas that leverage Alternate fulfillment capabilities to solve evolving Amazon pain points. A primary example is to be super local <160 miles with >80% 1D and 2D GVS, where the leader owns the transportation strategy for deploying SFF sites within existing Amazon idle assets to improve direct-to-customer routes and attainment. **Position Summary:**
Responsible for supervision and training of drivers at Operating Company (OpCo), and for ensuring deliveries are made in safe, efficient and timely manner. Amazon's ROC, Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Specialist to assist in the resolution of stakeholder issues of daily freight movements flowing into and out of our North American fulfillment centers and our associated fulfillment network. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team, and to have a positive impact on Amazon, our transportation partners and ultimately our customers. When network disruptions happen, you'll be at the forefront of helping the network/transportation partners clear those issues and ensure our customers get shipments on time.
An ideal candidate has a background in customer service/call center, transportation, and/or supply chain environments. Additionally, a passion for quickly providing solutions and resolution to challenges by using strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills is a must. Key job responsibilities
- Deliver great customer service to carrier and driver experience/solutions, in a contact center environment, through researching, problem-solving, setting appropriate expectations and working within the Amazon Transportation network
- Work in fast-paced environment, and adhere to schedules: start/stop, and breaks/lunches
- Support workload surges and/or weather-related operations as needed to include working significant overtime during designated high-volume peaks
- Use internal systems to gather data from multiple sources to support reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis (AAP, Reach, Decisiv, FMC & YMS)
- Work with cross-functional teams. Use analytical skills to drive data-driven decision, and effectively communicate insights to others across Transportation Operations Management (TOM), Amazon Freight Partners (AFP), and Fleet.
- Provide support to field teams in driver assignment, load acceptance and driver/equipment availability
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of working with computers and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Are 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of call center experience

Role is responsible for execution, continuous improvement, and problem solving of supply chain processes to achieve business results. Required to understand downstream customer requirements to meet expectations. Role drives change through applying fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of supply chain, and lean manufacturing. Candidate must be local to the AZ area as relocation is not available for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand and communicate value stream and/or supply chain capacity and constraints
  • Drives significant improvements on business processes and projects through the use of problem-solving tools such as Value Stream Mapping, A3s or Plan-Do-Check-Act.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for problems across supply chain processes.
  • Participate in supply chain projects within the value stream (plan, source, make, deliver); develop and complete project work plans, provide required status reports.
  • Regularly utilize lean tools and other business processes such as Kanban, spike tools, 5Y and other project management tools.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external business partners including suppliers, supervisors and team leads, logistics/warehouse groups and material planners.
  • Communicate/present lean tool applications such as value stream and process mapping, Kaizen and PDCA.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in engineering, supply chain or business equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of supply chain technologies (ERP, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Warehouse Management System)
  • Advanced computer skills with experience in MS Office, ERP and Reporting systems
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as pull systems, PDCA thinking, value stream mapping, process mapping and Kanban systems
  • Effectively collaborate and works well with others
  • Ability to understand customer needs in detail and consistently attend to meeting customer requirements
  • Considers the possibility that a change of direction is required
  • Strong communication skills through written, verbal and listening, and presentation techniques
