Position Purpose and Objectives
Combine your passion for driving while making a positive impact in the community! America's Thrift Stores is seeking Box Truck Drivers for our route collection program who bring a strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills. This position offers a unique opportunity to merge a passion for driving with a commitment to serving the community.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Completes daily residential routes to collect clothing, small furniture, and other household items from donors, donation boxes, and designated sites.
* Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Safely navigates and operates a 24/26-foot box truck through residential streets and confined spaces.
* Delivers outstanding customer service to both customers and donors.
* Maintains communication with the supervisor to accommodate changes in donor requests.
* Upholds a courteous, respectful, and friendly demeanor when interacting with the public.
* Collaborates with the Driver Helper to safely load and unload materials from vehicles, pallets, carts, racks, shelves, etc.
* Transports materials to and from storage or work sites using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other lifting devices, with assistance when needed.
* Efficiently sorts, stacks, and processes incoming donations by category (e.g., clothing, miscellaneous items, electrical) in a safe and organized manner, following company standards during unloading.
* Safely operates compactors and large trash receptacles when required.
* Adheres to all safety protocols by properly wearing and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications
* Must be at least 21 years old.
* Must have strong navigation skills.
* Must be available to work flexible hours, including days from Monday through Sunday, while adhering to DOT regulated driving hours.
* Should be adaptable with daily schedules to ensure all donor and box routes are completed as planned.
* Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
* Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:

* Mostly regular hours, occasionally working weekends, evenings and holiday hours as needed.

What Does a Driver/Helper Do Anyway?
- Safely maneuver a 24-foor box truck through residential streets and tight locations
- Complete pre-trip and post trip inspections

- Lift up to 70 lbs.
- Sort, stack and process donations by category
- Safely transport materials to and from work area using hand trucks, pallet jacks, other lifting devices and/or employee assistance
