Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, cross docking and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervises most processes directly including workforce and equipment scheduling. Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary. Reviews truck runs based on location of accounts, volume, costs, customer requirements and private fleet utilization. Review daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities based on above requirements.
**Major Responsibilities:**
**People:**
-Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable, Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire, Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers and provide counseling and/or recognition to associates as needed.
**Operations:**
-Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control, Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of dispatch/warehouse operations. Assist in new associate training, Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift, Have a thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems in order to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution, Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
**Finance:**

Responsible for coordinating transportation and movement operations necessary to transport employees, inmates, documentation and/or materials between various locations (i.e. detention facilities, jails, hospitals, courts, government offices etc.). Ensures the safety and security of the inmates and employees while they are being transported.
Pay Grade: 45H
Minimum Qualifications
1. Four (4) years' experience in a law enforcement capacity such as Police, Sheriff's Deputy or Highway Patrol and must have remained in good standing or retired; AND
2. High school diploma or possess a GED; AND
3. Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or Class B with air brake endorsement or Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) preferred but not required.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Transports inmates safely via passenger vehicles, buses and vans to various locations (courts, medical centers and other specified locations) away from the facility property.
2. Assists in maintaining security and order in accordance with established policies and procedures.
3. Performs inmate accountability throughout the shift (physically account for inmates' whereabouts at all times and log this information in the appropriate logs).
4. Monitors activities and behavior of inmates during transport and/or while in custody and maintains discipline.
5. Makes periodic unscheduled patrols of the areas; holding/staging areas and escorts in a safe manner.
6. Inspects each transport vehicle and/or individual for contraband including conducting a Tek-84 screening, frisk/pat search and removing all items from the individual's pockets prior to transport.

8. Prepares and completes reports such as progress reports and disciplinary and accident reports.
9. Prepares, maintains and reviews various reports and documentation such as booking document transport logs; etc.
10. Reports damaged or missing equipment/inventory to supervisors monitors vehicle/equipment and reports repair needs repairs/maintenance.
11. Ensures the cleaning and sanitizing of all transport vehicles and equipment.
12. Ensures each inmate's name appears on the transport docket paperwork before any transport commences.
13. Completes USMS Trip sheet and paperwork for all USMS transport.
14. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the Transportation department. Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate, our customers, and the general public with whom our drivers interact remain injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.
- Oversee and develop Transportation Managers through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, assisting in problem resolution when required, and leading by example.
- Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation personnel by discussing performance with Transportation Managers and creating plans to address gaps. Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.
- Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements and monitoring interviewing and hiring of Transportation personnel. Review performance, coach to achieve service and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
- Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction. Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions; direct managers on implementation. Interpret and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal DOT regulations.
- Ensure optimum delivery reliability to the customer by developing efficient and effective production flow processes and identifying process improvement and cost reduction strategies that are in line with business objectives.
- Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
- Analyze daily performance measures; identify any weaknesses; and recommend changes to the VP Operations to ensure that productivity objectives are achieved.
- In union facilities, assist HR and the VP Operations in interpreting the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, administering appropriate discipline, settling routine grievances and participating in arbitrations as required.

**SUPERVISION:**
- Direct: Transportation Managers, union and/or non-union transportation associates (Dispatchers, Transportation Clerks, etc.), Routers (location-dependent)
- Indirect: Union and/or non-union drivers
**RELATIONSHIPS**
- Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers; VP Operations; Drivers; Routers; Warehouse leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
- External: Customers
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- Will spend time in an office working on a computer. Must spend portion of working time in a truck with drivers, exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Related Experience/Requirements:
- Minimum of five years of experience in transportation/delivery supervision required.
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
- Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company.
- Strong understanding of DOT, inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
**Travel:**
-10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
**Education/Training:**
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000-$20,000.
This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
