**Position Description:**
The Field Engineer (FE) works directly for the Superintendent and is expected to exercise judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implementing policies and procedures and handling a wide variety of matters in the field. The position is normally, but not necessarily preparatory to becoming an Office Engineer or Project Engineer. The primary purpose of the position is to proactively aid the Superintendent in front-line field management. In addition, the position requires a considerable amount of work, responsibility, persistence, problem solving ability and good attitude, because the FE is responsible for the majority of the layout on a project, supervision of trade workers and subcontractor employees, as well as lift drawings, safety, and quality control responsibilities. Although the majority of a Field Engineer's time will be spent in the field, there are some duties which will require work in the field office. This is a safety sensitive position.
**Position Qualifications:**
+ A 4 -year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
+ 1 year of expereince and/or a combination of education and experience.
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
+ Previously completed internship with Hensel Phelps
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Past internships in the construction industry are preferred, but not required.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
+ Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including all embedded items, before placement of concrete.
+ Perform production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and report for the weekly and monthly schedule and cost control reports.
+ Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent. May include directing a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
+ Coordinate material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with the delivery status. Additionally, inspect materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality and condition, and report on missing and/or damaged items.

**Austin Bridge & Road** is seeking an experienced **Superintendent** to lead **Waterworks** projects in North Texas. This role is essential for overseeing daily operations of crews, managing schedules, controlling costs, implementing engineering designs, ensuring safety standards, and coordinating subcontractors, while maintaining strong relationships with owner representatives, developers, and vendors.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Ensure a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project duration from all levels of management and field operations, including all subcontractors.
+ Develop Work Plans in advance of starting work. Obtain input from foremen and team members.
+ Manage labor and equipment costs through ongoing evaluation of production, and monitoring equipment usage and needs.
+ Analyze weekly labor production. Ensure that weekly quantities are reported accurately, and that daily timesheets are coded correctly. Search for ways to improve production.
+ Take an active role during initial project planning and P6 scheduling and assist with monthly updates. Generate solutions to stay ahead of schedule.
+ Prepare weekly short term four-week look-ahead schedules.

+ Lead weekly meetings with foremen and subcontractors to discuss the four-week look-ahead schedule, production, submittals, material deliveries, RFIs, and quality issues.

+ Communicate regularly with Project Management to address cost and schedule concerns, and to troubleshoot job challenges and update job status.
+ Assist Project Management with the project start-up and commissioning plan.
+ Assist Project Management with project close-out.
+ Manage conflict resolution. Anticipate conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues.
+ Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures with field personnel and subcontractors.
+ Prepare detailed Daily Reports.
**Qualifications:**
+ Minimum 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction projects, including roadways, bridges, or large infrastructure works; aviation construction experience is preferred.
