About the Role:
The Director of AI Development applies expertise in AI and Generative AI to design, build, and optimize machine learning systems that enable next-generation solutions at scale. This role focuses on deploying scalable and efficient machine learning models into production, and monitoring and improving the performance of AI systems. The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of models into business workflows.

Responsibilities :

• Design and develop end-to-end applications that seamlessly integrate machine learning capabilities, including real-time inference, batch processing, and efficient data management to deliver scalable and robust solutions.
• Identify bottlenecks in the model development, deployment, and monitoring process.
• Design and implement production-ready machine learning pipelines, including model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring (e.g., labelled data sets to check performance of prompts).
• Build scalable, high-performance infrastructure to support Generative AI workflows (e.g., distributed training, inference optimization, and GPU/TPU utilization).
• Deploy GenAI applications into production cloud environments with performance, cost, and latency considered (e.g., open-source vs. closed-source, quantization, prompt token length, completion caching, prompt caching).
• Monitor and troubleshoot model performance, addressing issues such as performance drift and response latency.
• Stay at the forefront of Generative AI advancements, identifying opportunities to incorporate the latest research and techniques into production systems.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a focus on deploying AI systems at scale.
• Experience working with large-scale Generative AI applications in production environments.
• Relevant experience in the legal domain is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with Generative AI tools and techniques (e.g., LLMs, quantization, synthetic data generation, knowledge distillation, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning).
• Proficiency in commons GenAI libraries (e.g., LangChain, Autogen) and cloud-native AI services (e.g., Azure search)
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure) and management tools for IT components, storage, networking, and caching.
• Familiarity with ML Ops principles, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated testing for AI systems.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• I need you to plan, test, and implement rolling upgrades of LLM runtimes, agent-orchestration frameworks, and related services. – You will enforce IAM, secrets rotation, data classification, and Responsible AI guidelines; you should also monitor license usage and optimize expenditures. – I expect you to measure Service Level Indicators (SLIs) such as authentication latency and inference success rates while ensuring Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are upheld. – You will analyze GPU/CPU utilization, prompt accuracy, evaluation frameworks, vector-search query latency, and agent throughput. – I ask that you implement auto-scaling policies, caching strategies, and cost-control dashboards. – Additionally, I would like you to create clear how-to guides and conduct live workshops that enhance product teams’ skills in safe prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and platform APIs.

Working on a project basis (10-20 hours per week), the focus of this role is on adapting customer's contract review playbooks to our AI contract review technology. This involves:

• Drafting simple and clear legal language that captures the core concepts of a customer's playbook
• Breaking complex legal concepts down into individual concepts
• Turning legal rules and concepts into clear, concise sentences
• Drafting concise, plain-language sentences for redlines
• Testing and iterating to improve AI performance
• LLM prompt training and/or experience is a plus

Qualifications and Experience:

• JD and active membership in a US state bar
• 5+ years experience primarily focused on commercial contracting working on a range of common contracts (MSA, NDA, Contractor Agreements, etc.),
• Demonstrate a deep knowledge of commercial contracting with experience creating templates and playbooks
• Ability to write contract language and guidance that is clear and practical

POSITION: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer

WORKSITE: 200 North LaSalle, Suite 2020, Chicago, IL 60601 (Part-time telecommuting is permissible (up to 4 days per week) from within the Chicago, IL metropolitan area.)

OFFERED WAGE: $127,754.00 / Year

• Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide clear communication of artificial intelligence concepts.
• Design and deploy AI solutions, including intelligent workflows and robotic process automation, tailored to industry-specific needs in legal or financial sectors.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure on Azure for real-time machine learning model deployment.
• Support, fine-tune, and optimize large language models to ensure efficient performance across business intelligence applications.
