Position Summary

Imagine a position that allows you to apply your trusted legal expertise while working alongside the world’s largest retailer. This Senior Counsel role supports Walmart’s real estate strategy, including omnichannel real estate initiatives, acquisition and construction of retail, industrial and corporate facilities, portfolio management, and more. You will provide legal guidance on a broad range of real estate developments and operations; negotiate and draft contracts; and develop and leverage internal and external partnerships to address complex and novel legal issues.

What you’ll do
  • Draft, review and edit contracts and lead negotiations on high profile real estate matters
  • Identify transactional and operational legal issues originating from cutting edge strategic initiatives
  • Craft novel legal solutions to drive business growth
  • Deliver legal advice to the company by providing clients with an informed understanding of rights, obligations and risks to enable informed decision-making
  • Counsel officers and associates on alternative legal and business strategies
  • Collaborate with Global Governance and business partners to timely deliver crossfunctional projects
  • Partner with compliance and litigation professionals to mitigate trending risk
  • Evaluate and assist with the development of standard operating procedures, policies, guides, training and communications
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to real estate matters
  • Support a culture of belonging and cultivate an environment of professional respect
What you’ll bring
  • Subject matter expert in real estate law, with significant experience in acquisition and construction of retail, industrial, corporate and fuel projects
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze risks effectively and efficiently
  • Confidence to make decisions and strong leadership with the ability to influence others
  • Ability to craft innovative legal solutions and think strategically
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead and collaborate with crossfunctional teams
  • Experience managing a high-volume transactional workload
  • Resilience and ability to respond well to adversity
Minimum Qualifications

Law degree from an accredited law school and 5 years’ experience in law. License to practice law in at least one state.
