The Role

The Apprentice School is an educational and career opportunity unlike any other. The School provides high quality, comprehensive 4 and 8-year apprentice programs for students interested in shipbuilding careers. Since 1919, our programs have produced over 10,000 graduates in support of the operational needs of Newport News Shipbuilding. To be considered for admission to The Apprentice School, an applicant must have a high school education with a minimum of four units passed in any combination of the following: one or two units algebra; one unit of geometry; one unit of chemistry; one unit of physics or principles of technology; one unit of mechanical drawing; one unit of vocational/technical or computer science; or one unit of advanced mathematics. Under directive supervision, with some latitude for planning or laying out of working details, must be able to do the most complicated construction and maintenance work on dead or energized transmission and underground or overhead distribution conductors, structures and equipment, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned
-Have equivalent experience in related work, having all the qualifications of Lineman 2nd Class.

**EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:**
-Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid on or off the ground.
-Know the location of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires.
-Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
-Have a thorough working knowledge of electric transmission and distribution circuits and related equipment including Switchman certification.
-Have thorough knowledge of hot line tools and their application.
-Be able to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints as related to transmission and distribution construction and maintenance.

Primary Purpose: Assists electrician to install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
Typical Duties: Measures, cuts, and bends wires and conduit using ruler and hand tools. Drills holes for wiring using power drill and pulls or pushes wiring through opening. Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects, such as wiring, conduit, and motors. Performs minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches using hand tools. Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order. Disassembles defective electrical equipment, such as motors using hand tools. Load, transport, unload, and furnish Electrician with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. May erect scaffolding. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials during installation. Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.
Requirements: Minimum 1yr experience with I&E. Must be able to furnish own transportation to and from job sites in the North Texas area. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Must not use illegal drugs or excessive alcohol and must consent to a drug and alcohol test as required. Must be able to comply with safety standards. Must have own hand tools. Must be knowledgeable of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Workers should be able to: follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties, which may often change; work within standard of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; and evaluate information using measurable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, vessels, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and see (naturally or with correction). High school diploma preferred and on the job training recommended. Must have a valid driver's license.

**Job Summary**
Our Truck Service team is comprised of nearly 3,000 highly
skilled technicians and spans coast to coast. With over 280 locations across
the country, TA Truck Service has a solid foundation and a forward-thinking
vision. As a level one Technician, you will provide accurate, efficient service
to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty trucks
and trailers in a professional and accommodating manner. Our Technicians ensure

* Have extensive knowledge of the products we sell and the services we provide
* Diagnose wear conditions and together with TSA or Manager, makes recommendations to customers

* Understand Truck Service Standard Services and specialized customer programs
* Follow safety guidelines and reports potentially unsafe situations caused by team members and/or customers.

This is achieved by power washing the systems, including filters, ductwork and fans. If you are someone who enjoys the sights and scenery of a road trip, possesses the ability to adapt and overcome unforeseen obstacles and likes to feel an internal sense of pride over your work then this is the position for you.
