Main position objectives:

The Die Plate Designer provides the highest quality design and technical support for the Maag family of equipment to include: die plates and die plate related items.  Working independently but supported by others, the incumbent is the die plate designer for our customer’s pelletizing systems.

Position description: 

•    Creates and Maintains CAD models, detail drawings, bills of material, and shop information packets for machine shop production.

•    Provides support to CNC Programmers, and Machine Shop.

•    Helps the Sales Department, and Customer Service Department with questions and requests from customers globally.  

•    Independently reviews specifications for the project.  

•    Determines what items need to be ordered.

•    Meets tight design deadlines and work OT when required

•    Leads technical discussions regarding design issues or proposed changes.

•    Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts such as Kaizen events and problem solving.

•    Other tasks as assigned by manager.

The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively

DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop accurate and complete technical documentation, including assembly drawings, part drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).

VHB's Metro DC offices (Washington, D.C. and Tysons, VA) are seeking a CAD Designer to join our Site Civil/Land Development team to support our land development projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in CADD Civil 3D design for private and municipal projects.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic construction practices for civil construction, and ability to generate drawings for engineers, and make suggestions for further development is highly desired
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent analytical and math skills.
  • Preferred: Experience using model-based design tools and concepts.

Overview

As a CAD Designer for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC), you'll work with project managers to produce civil site, water resources, stream restoration, and solid waste construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D to include site plans, grading & drainage plans, utility plans, erosion control plans, storm and sewer profiles. You'll also assist in the design of stream restoration designs to include plan, profile, and channel cross-sections, calculate quantities, and develop stormwater pollution prevention plans. You'll calculate quantities to be used in construction estimates, determine earthwork volumes (cuts and fills) based on existing and proposed topography, identify appropriate construction control systems on plans (i.e., baselines, stationing, control points, etc.) and prepare the same. You'll provide value-oriented design suggestions, review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.

Qualifications

    Associates (or higher) in Engineering Information Technologies or Computer Aided Drafting or similar;
  • 6+ years of experience;
  • Civil 3D experience;
  • Must be detail oriented; and,
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Main position objectives:

The Die Plate Designer provides the highest quality design and technical support for the Maag family of equipment to include: die plates and die plate related items.  Working independently but supported by others, the incumbent is the die plate designer for our customer's pelletizing systems.

Position description: 

   Creates and Maintains CAD models, detail drawings, bills of material, and shop information packets for machine shop production.

   Provides support to CNC Programmers, and Machine Shop.

   Helps the Sales Department, and Customer Service Department with questions and requests from customers globally.  

   Independently reviews specifications for the project.  

   Determines what items need to be ordered.

   Meets tight design deadlines and work OT when required

   Leads technical discussions regarding design issues or proposed changes.

   Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts such as Kaizen events and problem solving.

   Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Work Environment:

   Work in this position is onsite in an office and a factory floor environment.  Remote work is not available due to working closely with the machine shop. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.
