**The Role:**
This role is responsible for driving feature development and system functionality across General Motors' enterprise collaboration platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building Slack apps, integrating with APIs, and automating workflows to enhance productivity throughout the organization. They will be expected to identify use cases, define functional and technical requirements, and enable robust implementation designs that align with business needs.
Success in this role requires demonstrated experience in software project delivery and leading technical efforts using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies. The candidate should possess mastery of multiple programming languages and development tools, along with a strong understanding of secure, scalable system design and cloud-native architectures. Responsibilities include performance tuning, usability assessments, and proactive remediation of software issues related to code quality, security, and user experience. The developer will also integrate new software with existing systems and provide technical guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers and team members.
In addition to technical expertise, the Unified Collaboration Developer is expected to model GM's values and cultural behaviors, holding themselves and others accountable while fostering a winning team culture.
**What You'll Do:**
Slack App Development & Integration
+ Design, develop, and maintain custom Slack applications using Block Kit and Slack APIs (Web, Events, RTM, Admin, SCIM).
+ Implement Slack app authentication using OAuth 2.0 and support enterprise SSO integrations.
+ Build and deploy Slack apps using manifests and the Bolt framework, leveraging socket mode and managing scopes/permissions.
+ Extend Slack Workflow Builder with custom steps and integrate workflows with external systems.
Full-Stack Application Development
+ Build scalable, GUI-based web applications using modern front-end frameworks and backend services.
+ Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services and enterprise platforms.
+ Design distributed systems suitable for enterprise-scale environments.
Data Management & Persistence
+ Architect and implement data storage solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases.
+ Utilize ORM frameworks and caching services to optimize performance.
+ Implement messaging and queueing systems for asynchronous processing.
Security & Networking
+ Ensure secure storage and transmission of sensitive data, including tokens and user credentials.
+ Apply best practices for data encryption, authentication, and authorization (e.g., Azure Entra ID).
+ Work with API gateways and web tier concepts to ensure secure and efficient communication.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
+ Deploy applications to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and Kubernetes environments.
+ Use Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and manage CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
+ Implement serverless architectures where appropriate and manage containerized deployments using Docker.
**What You'll Need:**
+ Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in Slack enterprise environment
+ Proven experience developing Slack apps and workflows in enterprise environments.
+ Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, NodeJS, or Deno.
+ Experience with databases such as Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB; caching with Redis; and messaging with BullMQ or RabbitMQ.
+ Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Terraform, and CI/CD tools.
+ Deep understanding of web security, OAuth 2.0, and enterprise authentication systems.
+ Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Blob Storage, and GitHub Actions.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of regulated industry compliance (e.g., automotive, healthcare).
+ Experience with Slack Enterprise Grid and extending Slack Workflow Builder.
This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis. A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review. **Staff Technical Program Manager, SaaS & Collaboration Platforms**
**Hybrid:** This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Warren (MI), Austin (TX), or Mountain View (CA) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at any of these 3 locations.
We are looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the execution and scale of GM's enterprise SaaS & Collaboration Platforms programs.
In this highly cross-functional and strategic role, you will drive complex SaaS & Collaboration Platforms initiatives from concept through delivery, partnering with technical, business, and executive stakeholders to embed SaaS & Collaboration Platforms into GM's enterprise operations. You will shape the roadmap, governance, and change management practices required to drive responsible, scalable, and high-impact SaaS & Collaboration Platforms transformation across the company.
**What You'll Do**
+ Translate corporate strategy into actionable technical roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables, and lead end-to-end execution of strategic SaaS & Collaboration Platforms initiatives across multiple business units and technical domains, driving cross-functional alignment and sustained momentum to deliver on quality and on time
+ Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to scope and deliver enterprise-scale SaaS & Collaboration Platforms programs, from pilot to production
+ Operationalize SaaS & Collaboration Platforms governance by embedding compliance, ethical SaaS & Collaboration Platforms standards, and responsible usage across initiatives
+ Influence enterprise tooling and infrastructure investments to support SaaS & Collaboration Platforms model development, evaluation, and deployment at scale
+ Serve as a connector and facilitator across organizational boundaries, proactively identifying dependencies, resolving blockers, and enabling teams to work together effectively toward shared objectives.
**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**
+ 10+ years of experience in program management, project management or technical engineering leadership, driving initiatives within technically complex systems
+ BS or MS degree in an Engineering-related discipline or equivalent experience
+ Strong engineering background, including the ability to contribute meaningfully to architectural decisions, the evaluation of technical trade-offs, and solution design
+ Extensive experience with SaaS and collaboration platforms. This includes expertise in platform modernization, cloud migration, data engineering, enterprise AI solutions, and the development of service and operations management platforms.
+ Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional hardware or software programs in complex enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders
+ Strong analytical mindset with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively for executive-level reporting and technical documentation
+ Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a passion for fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
+ Expertise in program management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, scaled delivery models) and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
+ Strong background in managing scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies across global initiatives

+ The salary range for this role is $143,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
