Ardurra is seeking a full-time Senior Ecologist to join our team in Orlando, FL.
This role focuses on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and database management for transportation-related projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong ecological assessment skills and a solid understanding of permitting requirements for both state and federal agencies.
Primary Function:
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Sr Ecologist to play a key role in the planning, execution, and management of wetland and natural resource projects throughout our Orlando Projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse watershed projects in a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Primary Duties:
- Review roadway plans to determine permitting requirements for minor and major transportation projects, including identification and assessment of wetlands and protected species affected, and assessment of stormwater impacts
- Prepare state and federal permit application packages that describe the site assessments, stormwater data, agency jurisdiction, the measures necessary to satisfy permit requirements, and summaries of meetings with the regulatory agencies
- Conduct wetland inventories and Environmental Assessments, including a focus on protected species
- Assist in preparing and reviewing reports in support of projects, including protected species, natural habitat, environmental impacts, biological evaluations, minor NEPA/NMSA, and related regulatory requirements and compliance guidelines
- Review documents for projects prepared by others, including pre-design environmental documents, permit application packages, exemption verifications, or need for additional wildlife surveys
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformity to established industry standards and local, state, or federal criteria
- Provide practical solutions to project challenges by applying accepted procedures and methodologies and collaborating with others
- Support the preparation of draft environmental scope, units, and staff hours for projects based on existing transportation permitting policies and guidelines
- Monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure profitability and timeliness of deliverables
- Mentor junior-level team members while being a positive leader for the team
- Contribute to business development efforts by supporting proposals and identifying new opportunities
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical or natural sciences or a related field such as Environmental Science, Biology, or Ecology
- 10+ years of prior practical experience (or 7+ with a relevant Master’s degree)
- Familiarity or established relationships with FDOT, regulatory agencies, and other municipal clients is strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of FDOT and regulatory agency criteria, standards, and plans preparation requirements
- Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work, and delivering presentations
- Ability to communicate technical and complex information clearly
- Possess attention to detail, organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset

**Job Description**
**AECOM** is actively seeking an experienced **Senior Ecologist/Statistician** to join our California Natural Resources Group. _This is a full-time, remote position that can be based anywhere within the Western Region of the U.S. and will report directly to our Southern California NR team._
This position would support numerous natural resource projects throughout the western United states, including California, the Great Basin region, and the southwest. _There may be the potential for occasional field work through the western United States._ Primary duties will be threefold: 1) eagle and listed species impact assessments and permitting, 2) statistics and modeling, 3) raptor studies. The position will lead complex permitting and compliance projects focused on Golden and Bald Eagles, federally listed species covered under the Endangered Species Act and state-sensitive species.
Responsibilities will require a working knowledge of leading impact assessments and developing permitting strategies, preparing permit applications and background technical materials, maintaining permit compliance, and performing associated task/client management duties. The position will require a strong background in ecological statistics and modeling including proficiency with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and modeling approaches such as general linear and Bayesian models. Responsibilities will also include directing raptor studies such as nest monitoring, avian use surveys, post-construction mortality monitoring, and protocol surveys for such species as Swainson's Hawk, Golden and Bald Eagles, and Burrowing Owls. Other focuses may include supporting development of Resource Conservation Plans, Eagle Conservation Plans, Habitat Conservation Plans, and Bird Bat Conservation Strategies. Candidate will coordinate with clients and resource agency staff, lead complex permitting projects involving eagles and other listed species and participate in public review processes.
Projects and clients can include renewable energy, transportation, and energy transmission sectors, with an emphasis on clients in the public sector such as federal and municipal entities.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:**
+ Manages projects with complex permitting needs and large-scale field efforts
+ Oversees or authors advanced technical documents such as Eagle Conservation Plans, Habitat Conservation Plans, Biological Assessments, Bird Bat Conservation Strategies, Incidental Take Permit Applications, etc.
+ Develops monitoring plans, avoidance/minimization strategies and adaptive management approaches for eagles, other raptors, and listed wildlife species
+ Develops electronic data collection protocols and effectively manages large volumes of data
+ Establishes and oversees robust QA/QC protocols
+ Conducts modeling and analyses on large datasets to inform impact analyses and mitigation approaches, particularly for raptor impacts, and ultimately permitting approaches
+ Directs a large team to complete field studies for raptors
+ Tracks project financial performance and identifies trends and deviations to project team with recommended corrective courses of action
+ Operates as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**

**Job Summary**
We are currently seeking **Field Ecologist I - Instrumentation** . This position is an onsite role located in **Fairbanks, AK.**
Remote locations. Cold winters. Short summers with near 24-hour sunlight. Our Taiga and Tundra field sites have some of the most challenging field conditions among our NEON locations-and some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife. NEON sites in the Taiga and Tundra Domains are managed from our Fairbanks, AK office.
**Physical Demands and Work Environment**
The work involves walking, hiking, prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling. Heavy items, equipment and packs up to 40 pounds, must be lifted and carried on a routine basis. Field work includes exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, rough and variable terrain, stinging, biting, and swarming insects, and wildlife hazards. Instrument maintenance involves performing work on instrument towers ranging in height from 24 feet to 72 feet, which includes ascending and descending multiple flights of stairs. Off-road in 4WD vehicles is required for most field sites.
**Work Schedule and Travel**
Work schedules are typically 8-10 hours per day but can occasionally be 12+ hours per day, including split shifts (off in the middle of the day), starting before dawn and/or ending after dusk, and weekends depending on the work assignment. The ratio of field to lab work is about 75% field and 25% office and lab duties.
Frequent overnight travel (e.g., 2-3x per month for 3-4 nights) is required. Occasional trips to Domain 18 can last up to three weeks. In addition, some positions are based in Domain 18 for the duration of the field season.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate and maintain in-situ meteorological sensors, soil sensors, water quality sensors, data loggers, IRGAs and other gas analyzers used to measure CO2, water, and energy flux at NEON field sites.
+ Monitor sensor health and status through various computer interface tools (i.e., PuTTY, specific sensor software, SAS, or other visual analytic tools).
+ Maintain and use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety equipment for working at heights in remote locations (5-point harnesses, ascenders, and self-retracting lifelines, etc.).
+ Provide training, instruction, and technical guidance to seasonal field personnel.
+ Perform additional field and lab procedures as assigned. This may include plant phenology, diversity, productivity, and biogeochemistry; stream channel morphology, aquatic organism abundance and diversity, biogeochemistry, seasonal climatic and hydrologic changes, and riparian phenology; abundance, diversity, and phenology of organisms including small mammals, ticks, mosquitoes, ground beetles, and soil microbes.
+ Ensure work hazards are identified and mitigated and support a culture of safety.
+ Follow all permitting requirements and assist with permit reporting and renewals.

+ Associates degree in ecology, forestry, environmental sciences, or related scientific discipline AND One (1) year of related experience

West of the Mississippi and east of the Rockies lies a northern landscape dominated by wide-open spaces, prairie grasslands and an abundance of agriculture. Welcome to the Northern Plains Domain, Domain 09 ( . Located in the prairie pothole region in the northern prairie, our field sites are dominated by a mix of wetlands and grasslands. This region is known as the 'duck factory' of North America it is prime habitat for many migrating birds, as well as deer, coyote, and grazing cattle. NEON sites in the Northern Plains Domain are managed from our Jamestown, ND ( office.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the NEPA planning process and oversee all aspects of a project, including client contact, budget control and invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement

- Coordinate regulatory/resource agencies and local governments

Your Capabilities and Credentials
