Job Description
We are looking for a scholar to join our center whose research focuses on understanding ways to promote all young children's social and emotional development and mental health, and to prevent and address challenging behavior within early classroom settings. We are interested in researchers whose interests in these areas intersect with early childhood educator well-being, beliefs, and bias, teacher-child interaction quality, and use of curriculum with the goal of determining how to better support educators to facilitate positive outcomes for themselves and their young students. We define early childhood broadly from birth to third grade and are particularly interested in researchers who have interests and experience within infant and toddler settings.
The incumbent will work with faculty on current projects including statewide research, practice, and policy partnerships with the Virginia Department of Education including VKRP ( , LinkB5 ( , VECC ( , and STREAMin3 ( . They may also be involved in other funded projects and teaching. The incumbent is expected and will be supported to develop a successful program of externally funded research as evidenced by publications in refereed journals and sponsored research.
This position is a hybrid role and will require the individual to collaborate with faculty and stakeholders on site in Charlottesville, VA, and other areas within the state of Virginia.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling to attend meetings, and programs.
This is a restricted position, and continuation is dependent on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
**Required Qualifications / Experience:**
+ Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.
**Preferred Qualifications / Experience:**
+ A focus on children's social and emotional development and mental health and preventing/addressing challenging behavior within early classroom settings (broadly defined as birth to third grade settings with some preference for interest in infant and toddler settings).
+ Strong quantitative experience.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently.
+ Two or more years of experience in planning and implementing applied, educational research (this could have occurred during graduate or post-doctoral training) that includes birth to third grade settings.
+ A record of scholarship within the fields of applied education and/or psychology that shows potential for continued growth as an independent scholar with a successful program of research.
+ Experience with sponsored research (e.g., experience with grant proposals, being part of an externally funded project team).

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of effective college teaching experience in courses related to school psychology and school mental health. We expect that the successful candidate will be an excellent instructor and student advisor to work collaboratively with the director of Clinical and School Psychology Programs and EHD faculty to provide exceptional educational experiences for students. This is a 9-month, salaried, non-tenure eligible faculty position with the possibility of renewal.
The candidate is expected to serve as the degree coordinator for the Ed.S. in School Psychology program (3-year renewable appointment). In this capacity, the candidate will work collaboratively with faculty colleagues, both within and outside EHD, to support the continued development of the Ed.S. program. As the degree coordinator, this individual will support the program in obtaining and maintaining accreditation; teach core/required courses and provide school supervision in the Ed.S. program; serve as a faculty advisor for students enrolled in the Ed.S. program; contribute to institutional service activities at the program, department, school, and/or university level as assigned and to professional service activities; and will attend Ed.S. Program, Human Services Department, and School of Education & Human Development faculty meetings. Load is set annually between the department chair and faculty member consistent with the School's Load Planning policy.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ PhD in School Psychology
+ Eligible for state school psychology certification in Virginia and/or Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)
+ Prior college teaching experience related to school or clinical psychology
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 3 years of experience as a school psychologist in a school system
+ Experience providing school mental health services
+ Experience providing supervision related to school or clinical psychology
+ Experience building relationships with practicing school psychologists who provide clinical-school supervision to student trainees
+ License eligible clinical psychologist in Virginia
+ Evidence of ability to implement a variety of pedagogical techniques appropriate for various learners

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of expertise in clinical practice and professional education in Physical Therapy, articulate a clear vision for establishing a new hybrid DPT program, and be committed to working cooperatively with faculty in other health science professional training programs at the University to achieve interprofessional education objectives. We seek a dynamic leader to guide the development and implementation of a DPT program that is committed to excellence in all its components. The successful candidate should have a strong record of teaching and leadership in Physical Therapy, exemplary interpersonal communication skills in oral and written modalities, and an appreciation for the importance of research and scholarship inherent to a public flagship university.
The founding DPT program director will lead program development including marketing and applicant recruitment and selection, teach graduate courses in Physical Therapy, and perform scholarship in Physical Therapy requisite to CAPTE accreditation standards. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside the School of Education & Human Development, to accomplish duties as a faculty member; contribute to institutional service activities at the department, school, and university level as assigned and to professional service activities; and will attend faculty meetings at the department and School level. Load is set annually between the department chair and faculty member consistent with the School's Load Planning policy.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Licensed physical therapist, or eligible for licensure, in the Commonwealth of Virginia
+ Earned academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Rehabilitation Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, or a closely related discipline
+ Evidence of contemporary expertise in defined areas of Physical Therapy
+ Evidence of a well-defined, ongoing scholarly agenda that reflects contributions to the Physical Therapy profession
+ Minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level Physical Therapist education program
+ Demonstrated knowledge of CAPTE accreditation standards and required elements of Physical Therapist education programs
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Prior experience as a Program Director or Director of Clinical Education of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist education program
+ Demonstrated experience, professional development, and education in administration, management, and leadership
+ Proven record of collaboration with diverse groups of students and faculty
+ Ability to implement a variety of pedagogical techniques appropriate for academically diverse learners across in person, hybrid, and distance education settings
+ Evidence of sustained professional service in Physical Therapy at the national or state levels
