Our Fund Management Analyst works closely with members of the Asset Management, Syndications, and Acquisitions teams. These teams and department help our communities as we are focused on Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). Our investors make contributions to fund properties, which allows properties to offer lower rents to tenants, and investors earn tax credits in return. No two days are the same on our Equity Syndications team as each property differs from one another.

Requirements

  • Generate and post all monthly journal entries
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of quarterly reports including but not limited to; project and fund-level summary reports, model projections, drafting financial statements, investor narratives, and calculating investor yield on a quarterly basis
  • Coordinate with Asset Management and Syndication to plan for upcoming capital calls, bridge draw requests, manage cash position, and prepare reconciliations
  • Work with external parties that include but are not limited to investors, partnership accountants, and other entity partners
  • Review Limited Partnership Agreements and create active, post-closing models for each
  • Review lower-tier partnership tax returns and audits
  • Assist Fund Auditors during preliminary and year-end field work
Expected Experience, Skills and Education:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a business-related field, accounting or finance is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in real estate investments and public accounting experience is preferred
  • Previous work experience in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program or Affordable Housing industry is preferred
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills in interactions with investors, lenders, and developer partners in a financial services environment
  • Candidate must be able to communicate and work effectively with individuals representing various departments and having varying specialties, both financial and non-financial

Position Summary:

The Fund Management team is responsible for the operation of Carlyles Global Private Equity and Global Credit funds. Managers within Fund Management are assigned to one or more investment funds and are responsible for supporting all aspects of the funds operations including quarterly valuations, investment funding and execution, investor reporting, compliance, tax and legal matters as well as internal financial planning and analysis for associated business units.

Responsibilities

Quarterly Fund Performance and Investor Reporting

  • Review financial valuations and exit forecasts for fund portfolio companies prepared by investment teams. Coordinate with the Corporate Accounting Valuation Group on quarterly valuation deliverables, including reviewing exit forecasts for the quarterly forecasting process. Prioritize and coordinate the organization of quarterly valuation deliverables and support.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis on portfolio valuations, including allocation and scenario modelling for Fund CFO and senior leadership
  • Track and maintain appropriate controls and record-keeping
  • Coordinate with external valuation reviewers on quarterly valuation reviews, as well as Lead the coordination of the valuation reviews as part of the quarterly and annual external audit cycle
  • Drive timeline and review Quarterly updates of the fund and the underlying portfolio companies for investors with minimal supervision. Support Fund CFOs and Segment CFO in preparing presentations and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Coordinating with legal, compliance, investor relations, and external counsel to manage fundraising efforts for new funds and co-investment offerings, including preparation of marketing materials and review of junior analysts responses to due diligence requests
  • Support the FM Associate Vice President in process management of FM aspects of fundraising (coordination of closings, entity formation and coordinating across teams for legal, tax, and lender diligence)
  • Support the FM Associate Vice President and Legal in negotiations and legal review of fund documents
Fund Forecasting/Budgeting
  • Provide support for the preparation of annual fund operating budgets through completion of operating revenue and expense projections. Perform quarterly budget-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Coordination and review of key performance metrics and detailed data requests on a quarterly and ad hoc basis for Portfolio Review meetings, etc. across teams
Fund Operations & Transaction execution
  • Liaise with partnership accounting, fund management administrative consultants, fund counsel, tax, and fund coordination functions to lead the process of transaction execution (new investments, exits, restructures) including documentation and administration.
  • Assist with legal and compliance matters, including liaising with external service providers regarding reporting requirements, managing the formation process and reviewing structure documents for the entity legal management system.
  • Support Legal and Tax in review of transaction structuring
  • Manage liquidity for the funds and oversee the process and timeline of borrowings, capital calls and distributions
  • Review waterfall calculations

Job Summary:

The Gift Acceptance and Fund Management team collaborates within its department-Alumni Relations and Development (ARD)- and across campus to manage all aspects of the gift agreement lifecycle and to support key processes and reporting related to the compliant spending of private gifts to the University.

The associate director is an accomplished, detail-oriented writer and analytical thinker who is comfortable working within structured frameworks - whether legal, financial, or policy-driven. In collaboration with senior members of the Gift Acceptance and Fund Management team and other members of ARD, the associate director plays a key role in advancing the University's philanthropic goals by drafting, redlining, negotiating, and finalizing complex gift agreements, interacting directly and often with internal and external partners in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This position also researches and advises on donor intent for existing funds and contributes to fund compliance, reporting, and spending processes as needed.

This role requires, or expects the individual to develop an advanced knowledge of current tax laws and legal regulations related to charitable giving. The associate director helps mitigate institutional risk by identifying due diligence issues, advising on policy and exception requests, and balancing the interests of donors with those of the University.

The associate director reports to the senior director, Gift Acceptance and Fund Management, and will also receive direction from senior team members. This role will primarily interface with frontline officers who manage the donor relationships and negotiations. Other key business partners include Donor Relations, Office of General Counsel, and Accounting Services.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize routine and complex gift agreements and other related documents;
  • Maintain full knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws associated with gift agreements and charitable giving;

Review, evaluate, and prepare executive-level presentations related to quarterly valuations for fund portfolio companies prepared by investment teams. Own and manage the organization and retention of quarterly valuation deliverables and related supporting documentation.

Collaborate with Carlyle's investment professionals to plan, communicate, and operationalize the funding of investment acquisitions and dispositions. This includes reviewing calculations, preparing internal schedules to facilitate communications, drafting messaging for investor capital calls and distributions, and project-managing the execution of the acquisition or disposition transaction.

Ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned, potentially including:

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize performance metrics into takeaways for FM and investment team executives.
  • Review portfolio company operational updates and other financial analysis and research.
  • Design and prepare presentations for meetings with investment team executives.
  • Support fundraising, including ideation, design, and preparation of marketing materials and responses to due diligence requests.
  • Respond to internal stakeholder and external investor requests for information on an as needed basis.

Team Summary

The Fund Management (FM) team executes the Chief Financial Officer function for a given Carlyle product or fund. As the primary owner of the fund's P&L, the FM team is responsible for all aspects of fund financial forecasting, performance optimization, transaction execution, risk management, and portfolio monitoring. Equally important is the FM team's role in ideation, design, and crafting of messaging and executive-level presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

The FM team collaborates with Carlyle's investment teams to analyze and optimize fund performance, connects with Carlyle's legal and compliance professionals to analyze and assess fund and investment-level risks, and supports Carlyle's investor relations team in managing relationships with key external stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Senior Analyst connects the narrative with the numbers. On the cutting edge of Carlyle's fund-level performance data, the Senior Analyst's primary role is synthesizing the data into crisp, concise, and insightful takeaways for internal and external stakeholders. Key recurring deliverables include fund performance forecasting and optimization, brainstorming and designing materials to support presentations and meetings with key investors, analysis and review of the valuations of the fund's portfolio companies, and supporting Carlyle's investment teams to execute acquisitions and dispositions.

Responsibilities
  • Review and design presentations summarizing the performance of Carlyle Asia funds and portfolio companies to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collect and critically assess projections of investment-level exit valuations prepared by Carlyle's investment professionals. Synthesize the data into a narrative at the investment and fund-level. Design executive-level reporting and narratives around projected fund performance and distribution timing.
