**Job Summary**
Battelle is seeking a **Security Specialist I** . The position is in **Columbus, OH** .
A highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with expertise in safeguarding classified materials, ensuring proper storage, transmission, and destruction in compliance with established procedures. Capable of supporting management initiatives and working effectively within a team environment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Ability to work independently and cohesively within a team atmosphere.
+ Responsible for the accountability of classified items stored on site and the steady flow of classified material in and out of the office.
+ Interprets security regulations and provide security expertise with respect to classified material safeguarding and handling; classification markings, receipt/accountability, SIMS database entries, classified mailing, courier letters, secure faxing, material generation, copies, and classified destruction.
+ Assist with security program self-inspections and preparations related to client inspections. Prepare and maintain official records auditable by US Government representatives.
+ Serve as a helpdesk POC for cleared staff members. Responds to questions and requests that require basic knowledge of security procedures with creative problem solving.
+ Coordinate classified meetings and provide security clearance information for classified visits/certifications to government and cleared industry facilities.
+ Handle and maintain all Foreign Travel inquiries for cleared staff.
+ Create security educational materials; provide briefings; facilitate security awareness training.
+ Provide proposal support as needed to include secure room access.
+ Assist with UL2050 semi-annual requirements for secure spaces to include escorting into secure spaces.
+ Maintain and update secure room rosters for secure areas.
+ Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) with the overall security program.
**Key Qualifications**
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen with current DoD Secret Clearance. Current TS/SCI eligibility is preferred.
+ Associate degree with a minimum of 1 - 2 years of Industrial Security experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
+ Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) or Industrial Security Professional (ISP) Certification desired, but not required.
+ Military veteran with relevant SSO or other similar security experience will be considered a plus.
+ Ability to travel to attend meetings and training (less than 5 percent of time).
+ Experience with Windows computer operating systems.

    • Reviews health measures for various functional performance components of platform, applications, controls, and appliances and supports key security systems, responds to security events, and troubleshoots and proactively discovers security issues across the enterprise.
    • Validates security controls are working as designed (validation and/or efficacy) to ensure effective security measures.
    • Develops new and/or updates existing controls that limit the risk exposure for the company and optimizes security system performance.
    • Researching new security and information technology trends in enterprise applications, networks, and systems to understand and drive strategic plans, forward engineering, upgrades, and changes while influencing vendors to drive bug resolution, product feature enhancement, and key security improvements.

    Minimum Qualifications:

The GITS team is part of Intel's Information Security organization and supports the unique IT information Security and Compliance requirements for Intel Federal LLC, a subsidiary of Intel that delivers products and/or services to the US Government (USG).     • Partners with system engineers, network engineers, database administrators, and information security personnel in support, integration, development, and lifecycle management.

    • Develops and validates functional requirements and identifies gaps or risks to meet business and security outcomes.

    • Reviews health measures for various functional performance components of platform, applications, controls, and appliances and supports key security systems, responds to security events, and troubleshoots and proactively discovers security issues across the enterprise.

    • Validates security controls are working as designed (validation and/or efficacy) to ensure effective security measures.

    • Assists with the development of new and/or updates existing controls that limit the risk exposure for the company and optimizes security system performance.

    • Researching new security and information technology trends in networks and systems to understand and drive strategic plans, forward engineering, upgrades, and changes while influencing vendors to drive bug resolution, product feature enhancement, and key security improvements.
