The duties of the Advisor include engaging in regular communication with graduate students, assisting students with programs of study, advising those who are experiencing difficulties, processing all necessary paperwork for graduate student program progression, maintaining database information on graduate students, and providing reports as requested. The Beacom School of Business has four graduate programs with nine specializations and three certificate programs. Graduate programs are offered on campus and online with total enrollment exceeding 450 students.

Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in business or related field and a minimum of five years working experience with at least three years of experience in student services, advising, or related position. Demonstrated effectiveness in written and interpersonal communication with adult professionals, both individually and in group presentations.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in business, higher education, administration, communication or related area. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Summary:

The Admission Counselor for graduate programs is responsible for recruiting and on-boarding prospective students to Bushnell. Admission Counselors are assigned recruitment, marketing and outreach responsibilities geared towards specific academic programs. This position is responsible for recruiting prospective students for enrollment in the Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Education, Master of Arts in School Counseling, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and other program/endorsement areas for the School of Education, accurately answering program-related questions for new prospects and assisting prospects with the application process. This position is measured on performance of overall objectives and goals set by the Dean of Admission and the Director of Online & Graduate Admission.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute marketing and recruiting activities for Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Education, Master of Arts in School Counseling, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Education certificate programs, and others as assigned.
  • Work with the Director of Online & Graduate Admission, Dean of Admission and Academic Deans to develop and implement a strategic enrollment plan and facilitate enrollment goals for designated programs.
  • Participate in the development of promotional materials including letters, brochures and fliers.
  • Develop and maintain community and organizational relationships that will assist in the program development and recruitment of students; connect Bushnell University with schools, organizations, service organizations, and businesses for the purpose of recruiting students; develop and maintain relationships within target markets.
  • Travel to various cities/locations to recruit students and make presentations to/at businesses, organizations, service organizations, career fairs, conferences, and schools; participate in employment and college fairs; answer questions regarding the admission process and the University; make travel and lodging arrangements as necessary.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key professional groups in the target market.
  • Coordinate campus events pertaining to recruitment efforts and associated strategy.
  • Generate inquiries and applications; identify, recruit, meet with, and respond to questions or concerns of prospective students; review database daily for prospective student inquiries.
  • Make calls to prospective students and inform them about program; make, receive and respond to various prospective student correspondence; respond to inquiries regarding financial aid, admissions process and related matters.
  • Coordinate and conduct campus visits as applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports related to assigned activities.
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment as assigned.

+ As part of the Graduate Programs team, provide curricular consultation and programmatic direction, support student events, and meet with students to address concerns and provide general support.

Operational
+ Collaborate with the Graduate Programs Coordinator to devise and direct a comprehensive system to process over 1400 applications for the LLM, LLC, SJD, and visiting scholar programs through UNITE and other application platforms.
+ Manage all online systems, including admissions database, website, and various online applications; write, analyze, and produce all statistical reports for internal and external constituents.
+ Maintain the team's recruiting schedule (both in-person and remote events); work with Graduate Programs team to drive a robust post-acceptance outreach events.
+ Work closely with our dual degree partner universities and Wharton Executive Education for the Wharton Business and Law Certificate Program to maintain and support the admissions process and student programming.

WORK SCHEDULE

Teaching classes, conducting research, and providing clinical supervision at the training clinic, Renew Counseling Center.

JOB SUMMARY

The primary focus of this position is to be a core faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Counseling Psychology, which trains masters level students for careers as professional counselors. The successful candidate would carry a teaching load along with being able to provide clinical supervision at the onsite training clinic, Renew Counseling Center. A doctorate in the field of counseling or clinical psychology is required and the candidate should be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist or masters level provider (e.g., LPC, LADC, LMFT).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Teach an annual course load of 20 hours.
  • 12 hours of load release for Renew Counseling Center clinical activities (e.g., providing weekly group supervision for masters level interns; providing weekly individual supervision for select masters level interns; attending weekly didactics; having their own clinical load) and research.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide mentorship for students working on clinical competency projects.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff functions (e.g., admissions meetings, clinical competency evaluations, annual reviews).
