**Job Description and responsibilities:**
**Business Architecture & Strategy**
+ Define and evolve the manufacturing business architecture to support strategic objectives.
+ Translate business needs into digital transformation roadmaps and technology enablement plans.
+ Align manufacturing operations with enterprise architecture and digital strategy.
**Digital Enablement & Technology Integration**
+ Architect solutions leveraging IIoT, MES, UNS, MQTT, and edge/cloud platforms.
+ Lead the design and implementation of digital threads across shop floor systems.
+ Ensure interoperability between OT and IT systems through standardized data models and protocols.
**Operational Excellence & Transformation**
+ Conduct maturity assessments of shop floor operations and digital capabilities.
+ Identify opportunities for automation, data-driven decision-making, and performance optimization.
+ Collaborate with plant leadership to implement scalable, sustainable transformation initiatives.
**Stakeholder Engagement & Governance**
+ Act as a bridge between business units, technology teams, and external partners.
+ Facilitate workshops, visioning sessions, and governance forums to drive alignment.
+ Develop and maintain architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices.
**Data Architecture & Unified Namespace**
+ Design and maintain a Unified Namespace (UNS) structure for real-time data flow across assets.
+ Enable contextualized data access for analytics, visualization, and AI/ML applications.
+ Ensure data integrity, security, and scalability across the digital ecosystem
**Required Experience:**
5+ years of Enterprise Architecture experience
5+ years of Business Consulting/Business Insights experience in Intelligent Automation led Digital transformation

**About the Role**
Information Technology Interns at Caterpillar perform the same challenging work assignments as our new full-time hires. We work with our teams to ensure that every intern gains the appropriate professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment. This position is a great way to gain hands-on experience by supporting IT operations at a world-leading manufacturing company.
**What You Will Do**
You'll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. The internship is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 12 weeks. You can focus on building professional abilities in roles including (but not limited to):
+ Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of IT solutions.
+ Support IT team with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document business requirements.
+ Participate in the maintenance and upgrade of IT systems and infrastructure.

**Internship Program Qualifications:**

+ Must have 15 completed semester hours before the start of the internship.If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
+ Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution.
+ Must be able to relocate at indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$22.50 - $39.00
**Intern Hour Rate:**
An intern's hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.
