This not your ordinary manufacturing role! We manufacture our own metal siding, trim, and roofing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge/experience will roll formers, slitters, trim breaks, etc., though not required!

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Lead will be responsible for leading a team of manufacturing associates, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, and meeting production targets while maintaining high quality standards and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, including assigning tasks or stations to meet and maintain productivity.

  • Plan and organize production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products while optimizing resources and minimizing waste in conjunction with the Planner and Inventory Control Associate.

  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and adjust as necessary to meet quality targets and address bottlenecks.

  • Monitors and addresses employee performance through feedback, corrective actions, and training.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all employees.

  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve any issues that may arise.

  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and productivity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Three years manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Proven experience in an operations role with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

  • Proficiency in computers and simple mathematics.

  • Minimum one year forklift experience preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Manages overall plant manufacturing/support personnel activities, including hiring, promotion, demotion, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists the GM in managing plant customer relationships, including ensuring appropriate SPI to customer contact relationships are maintained.
  • Works with the GM to provide necessary resources to protect and maintain the facility at all times.
  • Ensures plant compliance to all local, state and federal government regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Works with Human Resources to assure a positive, constructive working environment built on honesty, fairness, integrity, and respect. Provides a working atmosphere conducive to good industrial and community relations.
  • Personally maintains plant floor focus, "go and see", engage with all shifts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years experience at a technical or management level. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, budgeting and costing, quality control procedures and human resource management techniques. 4 year degree or 7 yearsprogressive experience in a manufacturing environment

Our Quality Control Manager is responsible for implementing and executing quality control methods for the plant and for developing, and managing the systems needed to ensure our products meet or exceed company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
They oversee and manage all quality control processes and monitor quality control department operations as well as quality engineering. Together, they analyze, investigate and troubleshoot product and production issues, developing corrective actions, solutions and improvements, while implementing quality standards.
Our Quality Control Manager supports and partners with continuous improvement engineers to drive process improvement and quality goals.
YOU HAVE:
+ Education: Bachelors Degree in Quality, Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, and/or related field, or equivalent experience.
+ Experience: 5+ years of experience in Quality Control, Manufacturing, Process Management/Engineering.
+ Leadership & Innovation: Demonstrated success leading a team as a Manager or Supervisor. Displays a history of game-changing strategies and transformation initiatives.
+ Systems & Tools expertise: Advanced skills in Excel and strong Word, PowerPoint and Outlook experience. ERP & QMS Software experience a plus.
+ Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of QC control methodologies, inspection techniques, manufacturing processes and product development.
+ Communication & Collaboration: Great interpersonal skills, strong communication and problem-solving skills. Well developed influencing, presentation and negotiating skills.
+ Analytical & Organizational Strength: Excellent analytical thinking, detail-oriented, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ Methodologies or Lean Principles: Lean Six-Sigma, Kaizen, and/or Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement training or experience.
+ Preferred skills: Certifications in CQE, CMQ/OE and/or Lean Six Sigma Certification. ERP and QMS Software experience.

+ Manage Quality Control Processes: Develop and implement Quality Control procedures and policies to ensure our products and services meet and exceed customer expectations.

+ Maintain Vendor Relationships: Create and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure they meet our demand, specifications, and other requirements in a timely manner.

Position SummaryThe Quality Control Manager is responsible for providing, implementing and administering a quality control and assurance program to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications as well as the standards and methods specified in the project Quality Control Plan.        Key Tasks

The following is a general list of tasks falling into the areas of responsibility of the Quality Control Manager. It attempts to present a comprehensive, but not complete, listing of potential assignments that may be undertaken.

  • Responsible for internal and external requests for information (RFI), shop drawings, submittal reviews, progress meetings, site visits, contract completion, closeout, as-builts, and completion documentation.
  • Maintain responsibility for the maintenance and currency of the preliminary record drawings and as-builts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Supervises all Special Inspectors required by the contract documents and the IBC. 
  • Verify the qualifications of all the Special Inspectors. Verify the qualifications of fabricators. Maintain a 3- ring binder for the Special Inspector's daily. This file must be in a conspicuous place in the project trailer/office to allow review by the Contracting Officer and the SER.
  • Maintain a rework items list that includes discrepancies noted on the Special Inspectors daily report. 
  • Ensures GMHILL Daily Log Template is used.
  • Subscribes to Procore / RMS to track Daily Log Completeness reported online.

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering OR related field with minimum of 5 years’ experience in federal construction Quality Control role.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated record of project safety and success on work valued from $500K to $10M+.
  • Procore Certified: Superintendent certificate (Can be acquired within 30 days of hire.)
  • OSHA 30 certifications and ARC First Responder Course completion
  • USACE Certified Quality Manager (CQM-C) certification

Skill and Competency Requirements:

  • Experience in Procore and Resident Management System (RMS Contractor Mode and/or RMS Quality Control System, QCS)

  • Must be able to prioritize, assign, and oversee work on multiple concurrent work.
  • Must pass background check, drug screen and federal security clearance processes.
  • Performance of the required job duties will be in an office environment and project sites that are under construction which may include various weather conditions
  • The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
  • The ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven, or temporary
  • The ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
  • The ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel

About the Process Control Unit Manager position

We are looking for an experienced Unit Manager who will identify process improvement opportunities, reduce errors, improve process results and reduce costs. Maintain and generate documentation of existing processes and improvements, forecast expected results of process improvements, analyze implemented improvements and make continuous adjustments to workflows. Ensure audit readiness at all times. Lead the Quality Control Team and other Unit Managers to improve quality of the Tennessee Plant.

Unit Manager responsibilities are:

* Lead and drive "Quality First" and "Safety Always" focus in all activities all the time
* Evaluate factory floor processes through breaking down the value stream to confirm the current operating workflows. Analyse the information - including the value stream spectrum - and identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve time management, increase quality throughput, etc. based on a validated benefit/ cost analysis that identifies quality improvement opportunities
* Monitor the achievement rate of quality indicators. Create documentation outlining process improvements and how to implement them. Develop step-by-step work instructions to ensure changes are understood and deployed
* Lead and coordinate process improvement implementation teams to ensure bottom-up and across the organization input and involvement to drive a continuous improvement mind-set
* Conduct ongoing analysis of process improvements to ensure they are producing the desired outcome by deploying a Plan - Do - Check - Act (PDCA) methodology
* Ensure all necessary documentation is always in order based on saying what we do, doing it and documenting it. Take ownership of being 100% audit ready at any given time
* Arrange and coordinate internal and external audit preparation and organizational readiness
* Regularly communicate with manufacturing, production management, and facility technology teams to gather input and provide feedback relative to process improvement so that related departments can work organically, focused on generalized data gathering and reporting to plant and department leadership
* Develop training materials, organize and provide timely and relevant training utilizing methods to ensure understanding and immediate application
* Maintain a constant focus on waste and loss elimination and ensure the QC staff prioritizes this expectation and focused reaction to urgent quality related matters
* Lead and manage staff, ensure responsibilities are understood, hold others accountable, ensure consistency and never accept the status quo as acceptable
* Utilization Project Management tools to optimize PDCA methodology
* Manage Material Control Tower, Batch Lab and Physical Lab
* Perform other duties as assigned

Unit Manager requirements are:

Education:

* (Required) Bachelor's degree, field of science or learning major
* (Preferred) Mechanical or Chemical Engineering major or advanced degree in a related field

Experience:

* (Required) Several years of quality control experience
* (Preferred) 3+ years of managerial experience
* (Preferred) Previous experience in the manufacturing industry

Physical Demands:

* Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
* Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
* Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
* Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
