Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, staging and supplying materials (raw, work-in-process and finished goods), parts and supplies, to operators, workstations and distribution

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

Summary: Materials handler is to process material accurately through the warehouse. Workers in this area handle a variety of materials and products. Parts and materials may be expensive or hazardous in some cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Materials handlers load and unload materials in warehouses and storage facilities. Materials may be moved from trucks, trains and other transport equipment.
  • They also receive materials into an organization and verify materials against invoices to ensure the accuracy of the delivery. Materials handlers count or weigh parts to check quantity accuracy.
  • Handlers pick parts/materials for shipment and package according to shipping procedures. They fill out the appropriate paperwork to ship the product.
  • Materials handlers perform transactions in the inventory system to enter new quantities and, during shipping transactions, to remove inventory from stock.
  • Workers may use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies to bring products and materials to an appropriate location.
  • Stockroom workers issue materials to departments in the organization upon request. This involves transacting inventory quantities to the department and delivering the parts to the work area. The worker monitors the stockroom inventory and reports discrepancies in quantities to supervisors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Work Experience/Qualifications:
  • Materials handlers must be able to work in a physically demanding role. The work involves long hours standing and bending. Heavy lifting is also required.
  • Basic math and computer skills are necessary for the position of materials handlers.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate forklift safely.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.
Education Requirements:
  • Minimum educational qualification - High School Diploma or GED equivalent

JOB TITLE: MATERIAL HANDLER ( includes Loader, Packers, Assemblers, Order Pullers, Machine Operators, Hand Tool Operators, C&C Operators, Glazers, Welders, Cleaners, Inventory Control, Fabricator, Table Workers, Forklift Operators and Material Inspector/QC)

Classification Non-Exempt

Requirements & Competencies: Performs any combination of following assembly line tasks to

assemble structural parts, such as metal sashes, doors, windows, using hand tools and portable

power tools: Assembles frame components, such as tops, bottoms, sides, panels, and molding in jigs or fixtures.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. stand/walk continuously and perform physical tasks
  • Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) forklift certification strongly preferred.
  • Availability to work overtime hours, weekends and holidays preferred
  • Mathematical: Ability to add/subtract two digit numbers and multiply/divide 10's and 100's.
  • Must be able to stand long periods of time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assembles hardware, such as locks, hinges, catches, and swivels on frame and fastens hardware to frame, using various tools
  • May lay out reference points for drilling holes in frame members, using template, rule, and square
  • Load and unload off rolling material carts and match drawings from the purchase order on to staging tables
  • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, loading, and securing product onto pallets.
  • Operates various machinery including brooms, measuring tape, tape guns, knifes/blades, and other machines as required
  • Analyze order sheets based on client orders and pull appropriate product for each order
  • Quality control, verify material is not damaged/scratched and all pieces are in order according to the drawing/purchase order.
  • Organize and stage multiple projects
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
