Job Description

The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for executing basic tasks at a customer site or multiple customer sites within a region. This includes inventory management, purchasing, shipping, receiving, chemical tracking, storeroom tracking, and product delivery. The role requires knowledge and application of VWR and routine customer systems. The Coordinator must adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory management tasks such as monitoring slow-moving and dead inventory, conducting cycle counting, and yearly physical inventories.

• Provide daily customer service functions and communicate with customers regarding inventory management.

• Execute purchasing functions including back order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, 3rd party support, managing quotes, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.

• Handle all customer service-related functions such as order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.

• Coordinate shipping activities, handle routine issues, operate basic warehouse equipment, and enter shipping information into customer computer systems.

• Manage hazardous materials and prepare shipping documentation and packaging requirements.

• Interface directly with customer contacts, including purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers.

• Manage consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, or 3rd party inventory.

Work Environment

The role typically operates in an office setting with adequate lighting and ventilation, maintaining a normal range of temperature and noise level. While work is mostly sedentary, it may require walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs. Responsibilities

• Performs administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, staging and supplying materials (raw, work-in-process and finished goods), parts and supplies, to operators, workstations and distribution

• May prepare goods for shipment to customers and distribution centers

• Complete all necessary SAP Training to obtain the necessary profiles

• May be responsible for ordering required materials from outside vendors and offload all deliveries from outside vendors and do goods receipts for the deliveries

• Physically locate the materials in the warehouse and then perform transactions in SAP to locate them in the system

• Do bin to bin transfers for all moves from the warehouse

• Run Material Staging in SAP

• Is knowledgeable of both inbound and outbound logistics functions, familiar with computer warehousing system and may be required to use FedEx systems 

• May be responsible for conducting cycle counts to maintain accurate inventories

• Uses independent judgment in troubleshooting and problem solving under little/no supervision

• Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

• Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures

• Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures

• Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements

• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

•  2 years experience in logistics operations

• 2 years forklift operations experience required.

• Previous work experience with the use of material handling equipment (pallet jacket, forklift, shrink wrapper)

• Valid driver’s license required

• Forklift Certification required

• Experience with VLM is a plus

• High school diploma or GED

Basic Skills:

• Ability to work on assignments that are manual and routine in nature with the skill to recognize any deviations from specification

• Can effectively work in a team setting and communicate effectively across the department

• Must be able to maintain neat, accurate and complete records and logs, both manually and/or electronically on a personal computer

• Must be able to effectively manage frequent assignment changes

Proficient/Working Skills:

Responsibilities :

• Use pick tickets to pull customer orders

• Some orders involve full pallets; others require picking and stacking multiple individual bags to build a pallet — these take longer and require close attention to detail

• Wrap completed pallets of animal feed using a stretch wrapper

• Stage pallets in designated areas

• Load pallets onto trucks, paying attention to weight distribution and order accuracy

• Assist with end-of-shift truck loading and warehouse cleaning

• This is not a full-time forklift position

• Candidates must be willing and able to do hands-on warehouse work in addition to forklift operation

Summary: Materials handler is to process material accurately through the warehouse. Workers in this area handle a variety of materials and products. Parts and materials may be expensive or hazardous in some cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Materials handlers load and unload materials in warehouses and storage facilities. Materials may be moved from trucks, trains and other transport equipment.
• They also receive materials into an organization and verify materials against invoices to ensure the accuracy of the delivery. Materials handlers count or weigh parts to check quantity accuracy.
• Handlers pick parts/materials for shipment and package according to shipping procedures. They fill out the appropriate paperwork to ship the product.
• Materials handlers perform transactions in the inventory system to enter new quantities and, during shipping transactions, to remove inventory from stock.
• Workers may use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies to bring products and materials to an appropriate location.
• Stockroom workers issue materials to departments in the organization upon request. This involves transacting inventory quantities to the department and delivering the parts to the work area. The worker monitors the stockroom inventory and reports discrepancies in quantities to supervisors.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

• Materials handlers must be able to work in a physically demanding role. The work involves long hours standing and bending. Heavy lifting is also required.
• Basic math and computer skills are necessary for the position of materials handlers.
• Demonstrated ability to operate forklift safely.
• Demonstrate ability to follow instructions.
• Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.

• Minimum educational qualification - High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. stand/walk continuously and perform physical tasks

• Quality control, verify material is not damaged/scratched and all pieces are in order according to the drawing/purchase order.
• Organize and stage multiple projects
