General Manager

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our busy café in Woodstock, NY.

The right person has the confidence to take charge, the skills to train and support their team, and the ability to lead with kindness and clarity while keeping the café running at its best.

About the Job
  • Lead daily café operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences and meet sales, profitability, and engagement goals
  • Maintain high standards for food, beverage, service speed, and product presentation
  • Hire, train, coach, and recognize supervisors, baristas, counter staff, and kitchen crew to build a strong, stable, and engaged team
  • Create schedules, manage labor costs, and ensure payroll accuracy
  • Manage the café P&L in partnership with leadership, track performance, and take action to improve results
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, inventory management, and ordering
  • Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Collaborate with bakery, wholesale, marketing, and other internal teams to meet company goals

This is a hands-on role, working on the line as needed to lead by example and keep service smooth and standards high.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of management experience in a restaurant, café, or hospitality leadership role
  • Passion for organic food, café / bakery and coffee culture, and community engagement
  • Track record of leading diverse and inclusive teams, improving operations, and driving revenue
  • Skills in hiring, training, coaching, and retaining staff
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting, cost control, and reviewing P&L statements
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge of food safety and operational compliance standards
  • Excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lb
  • Commitment to maintaining excellent personal hygiene and food safety standards

**Education and Experience**

- High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

**Leading Operations Team**

- Ensures that goals are being translated to the team as they relate to guest tracking and productivity.

**Managing Property Operations Function(s)**

- Follows property specific second effort and recovery plan.

- Publishes all guest satisfaction results in a timely fashion including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.

- Takes proactive approaches when dealing with employee concerns.

- Extends professionalism and courtesy to employees at all times.

- Communicates/updates all goals and results with employees.

- Meets semiannually with staff on a one-to-one basis.

- Assists/teaches the team scheduling against guest and hours/occupied room goals.

- Performs hourly job functions as needed.

**Managing and Monitoring Activities that Affect the Guest Experience**

- Provides excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests.

- Takes proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns.

- Extends professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.

- Responds timely to customer service department request.

- Ensures all team members meet or exceed all hospitality requirements.

**Managing Profitability**

- Assists in performing required annual Quality audit with GM & RD.

- Ensures a viable key control program is in place.

- Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.

**Conducting Human Resources Activities**

- Interviews and assists in making hiring decisions.

- Receives hiring recommendations from team supervisors.

- Ensures orientations for new team members are thorough and completed in a timely fashion.

The salary range for this position is $71,000 to $92,000 annually. **Position Summary**
The Operations Manager is a member of the Store Management team, and as such, fulfills the company purpose of helping people on their path to better health by driving store execution and performance while building consumer loyalty to CVS/pharmacy through a focus on excellent customer service. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Operations Manager will maintain an engaged, productive store team through strong leadership, demonstrating initiative and leading by example.
The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the total leadership and strategic operation of a CVS/pharmacy store including:
+ Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
+ Sales and inventory management
+ Employee staffing, training, and development
+ Financial management
+ Customer service leadership
Unlike the Store Manager in Training position, the Operations Manager position is not part of the CVS/pharmacy Retail Management Development Program. Operations Managers are not eligible for direct promotion to Store Manager. Candidates with a short-term goal of becoming a CVS Store Manager should instead apply for Store Manager in Training openings.
Essential Functions:
1. Management
Lead others and work effectively with store crews
Supervise, assign and direct activities of the store's crew
Effectively communicate information to store crew and supervisors in an open and timely manner
Support Store Manager with actions plans for operational and service improvement
2. Customer Service
Assist customers with their questions, problems and complaints
Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, and thank)
**Required Qualifications**
+ Deductive reasoning ability, advanced analytical skills and computer skills.
+ Advanced communication skills, leadership, supervision, and influencing skill
+ Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including some early morning, overnight and weekend shifts, to work overtime as needed, and to respond to urgent issues at the store when they arise
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience as a retail manager or supervisor
**Education**
High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
