About the Role

EverPass Streaming Engineers are expected to have a working knowledge of all areas of our product, from the point of view of our customers and staff. This enhances their ability to add value by proposing the best solutions to their needs.

The Tech Stack

Our applications use React, Apollo Client on the front end and Nodejs, graphql, Mysql, redis and elastic search which are split across multiple services. All of this lives in mono repo with "turn key" docker powered development environment allowing you as a developer to focus on what matters. Everything packed in a next generation PWA (Progressive Web Application) running in kiosk mode on Google Chrome OS devices, making us one of the first Google partners to build PWA's for the new ChromeOS web API's.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and implement innovative live streaming workflows.
  • Develop support tools, scripts, and dashboards to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot encoding and segmentation issues to ensure seamless streaming.
  • Maintain and support our live encoders and VOD transcoding farms.
  • Document workflows and standard operation procedures for knowledge sharing.
  • Provide guidance to external teams on live encoder/packaging workflows.
  • Have a general understanding the EverPass platform and its components, and how to match our quality standards

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience in a video OTT/broadcast environment.
  • Basic understanding of DAI workflows in an OTT environment.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems in both the video and IT domains.
  • Proficiency in video codecs and compression (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC).
  • Familiarity with audio codecs and containers (AAC, PCM, AC-3, EAC-3, MPEG-1 Layer-II).
  • Comfortable working with Mac, Linux, specifically on the command line.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams.
  • Basic scripting experience (BASH, Python?).
  • Comfortable troubleshooting with Transport Stream and Elementary Stream analyzers.
  • Experience with video transport protocols such as RTMP, SRT, Zixi, HLS, MPEG-DASH.
  • Experience supporting live-streaming delivery at scale.
  • Experience working with AWS Elemental products considered a plus, but not required
Expected Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for a new hire into this position is $155,000 - $175,000.In compliance with local law, the range above reflects the current hiring range for this position. EverPass takes into consideration the qualifications, skills, and experience of the candidate, expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. EverPass expects to hire for this position at the mid-range salary, with the possibility of considering a higher salary only in rare cases when EverPass determines an external candidate possesses exceptional qualifications significantly exceeding the job requirements.

Scope of Responsibility

Lead high functioning lean full-stack product teams (product, design, copy, engineering, QA) to deliver best in class CTV and Streaming products. Develop and maintain a robust and transparent product backlog. Create epics and user stories that align with Product strategy and vision. Partner with Product Leadership to plan and execute roadmap goals by facilitating agile scrum ceremonies, removing obstacles and ultimately delivering quality products on time and on budget. Own and improve all processes to drive value, quality and team velocity. Document and effectively communicate risks or impediments that hinder team progress. Oversee initiative execution by managing sprints and timelines and leading delivery process.

  • Backlog Ownership : Own and prioritize the CTV and Streaming product backlog to ensure the team always works on the most valuable features.
  • Requirement Gathering & Refinement : Translate business needs, customer feedback, and market trends into clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Sprint Planning & Delivery : Work closely with designers, engineers, and QA during sprint cycles to ensure smooth delivery, clarity of scope, and fast decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as the primary point of contact between product teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of priorities, expectations, and progress.
  • Customer Focus : Champion the voice of the customer in all product decisions, ensuring we build intuitive and valuable experiences.
  • Strategy & Roadmap Definition : Contribute to CTV and Streaming strategy and roadmapping in collaboration with Product and Marketing Leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement : Analyze product performance, gather user feedback, and iterate on features to continuously improve user experience and business outcomes.
  • Communications : Leads core team and stakeholder communications. E.g., dependencies, launches, setbacks, learnings, tradeoff decisions, etc.
  • Team output : Leverages team velocity and capacity planning to continually improve product delivery
Domain Acumen
  • Experience building or improving connected TV or streaming experiences across multiple platforms and smart TV's.
  • Hands on and practical knowledge of CTV and streaming ad server and analytics platforms to track performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency turning data into actionable insights leveraging KPIs such as engagement, retention, playback success, ad-delivery.
  • Bonus: Experience with QOS (Quality of Service) and QOE (Quality of Excellence) tooling to monitor and improve stream performance and user perception.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and competitive landscape, with the ability to traverse, test and recommend emerging streaming solutions
  • Practical knowledge of user experience, data, and product strategy within the context of streaming.
  • Can speak the language of dev/design/QA with a topical understanding of digital technology stacks and tools.

Pay Range

$105,000-$120,000 USD
