The Center is hiring a Professional Development Assistant to provide support to the CTSC professional development team in preparing materials and assisting in the provision of professional development to K-12 teachers and administrators (i.e., through workshops and school/classroom visitations).
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Center for Technology and School Change (CTSC) at Teachers College, Columbia University works with school communities and educational organizations to transform the design of school learning environments for the 21st century through research, research-based professional development and the evaluation of technology use in the schools. The Center is hiring a Professional Development Assistant to provide support to the CTSC professional development team in preparing materials and assisting in the provision of professional development to K-12 teachers and administrators (i.e., through in person workshops and school/classroom visitations). This individual will assist in planning professional development activities, preparing related materials, and supporting facilitation efforts, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree. Some professional development experience, some experience working in K-12 schools. Familiarity with a design approach for developing lesson activities (e.g., Understanding by Design, Wiggins & McTighe, 1998). Familiarity with the educational use of technology, knowledge of learning management systems. Ability to work collaboratively Excellent writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in an education field (or current enrollment in a related master's degree program)

Develops, plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates the educational and staff development programs for Patient Care Services and /or facility. Directs and supervises the activities and staff of the department.
Job Responsibility
+ Directs Nursing orientation and staff development to validate and enhance competence of clinical staff.
+ Supports implementation and utilization of clinical nursing research.
+ Incorporates System and institutional values, goals and objectives into various educational programs presented to staff in alignment with the System dashboard.
+ Directs the development and implementation of continuing education programs in Nursing.
+ Directs the planning and implementation of education programs which will validate and enhance professional and ancillary competence.
+ Educates and markets the roles and responsibilities of nursing to a variety of audiences in the lay and professional community.
+ Evaluates program outcomes and makes modifications as needed.
+ Organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff using the nursing department organizational plan and current developments in the institution and System.
+ Chairs the facility Nurse Educator Council.
+ Collaborates with nursing leadership, nursing staff and other disciplines to organize Nursing Education, Quality Improvement and Research programs.
+ Participates in Nursing Quality Improvement activities. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.
+ Promotes the use by colleges and universities of the facilities for clinical education and fosters good relationship between hospital and their educational institutions.
+ Networks to establish Hospital as a pre-eminent source of professional education, healthcare information and patient care delivery.
+ Evaluates program/student placement effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
+ Responsible for the total annual budget for nursing education services.
+ Analyzes expenses and operations, implements cost effective alternatives which promote quality improvement.
+ Participates in the development of institutional and departmental goals and objectives.
+ Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
