**Job Description:**
**General Summary:**
The Architect, (Arch if not licensed) with some supervision from the Manager of Architecture assists in the development of the design work; leads in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinates the related work of the other disciplines; and assumes in-house construction administration duties on projects of moderate size and complexity.
**Essential Job Functions:**
+ Has the ability to coordinate and run small to moderate scale projects with some complexity.
+ Establish the factual parameters of the design work (e.g., code, site restrictions, budget, and schedule restraints); identify building systems options and related performance and cost criteria; assist in the presentation of design documents.
+ Formulate the project work plan and stick sets based on an approved scope of work. Lead the execution of the various tasks identified therein.
+ Assume primary responsibility for the daily activities of the architectural project team, progress of the work and technical quality of the Construction Documents (drawings and specifications).
+ Provide mentorship and embrace opportunities for learning with less experienced staff throughout the course of the project.
+ Accurately produces schematic design, design development and construction documents.
+ Proficient at architectural graphic standards and construction drawing set organization and development.
+ Assist the Project Manager in adhering to the project schedule and budget. Identify changes to the scope of the work and related repercussions on project schedule and budget.
+ Advise the Manager of Architecture (VP or Director) of changes in the staffing requirements for projects.
+ Prepare written portion of addenda and bulletins relating to architectural work.
+ Initiate and orchestrate the work of the entire project team (the various engineering and interiors disciplines, and other consultants), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members.
+ Assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
+ Perform all in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFI's, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; assist in providing field-representation services (at the request of the Project Manager).
+ Possess/demonstrates thorough knowledge of company standards. Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.
+ Proficient with Revit model creation and capable of recognizing/understanding Revit family content in accordance with company standards.
+ Proficient with Revit project set-up and workset/model management in accordance with company standards.
+ Knowledgeable with laser scanning and point clouds.
+ Possess/demonstrates the ability/willingness to accept constructive feedback and mentorship from colleagues to enhance professional development.
+ Perform related duties as assigned
**Employment Qualifications:**
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master's preferred.
+ NCARB AXP completion preferred.
+ Licensing exams in progress preferred.
+ LEED Certification preferred.
**Experience:**
+ 5+ years related architecture experience.
**Skills/Competencies:**
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams. Familiar with BIM360/ACC.
+ Knowledgeable with point cloud software (e.g. Autodesk Recap).
+ Good written and verbal communication

**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Under minimal supervision, the Architect will be responsible for developing ideas with client(s) on the design and planning of complex structural items for new and existing facilities. Employees in this job class are responsible for making appropriate recommendations for the design and methods of installation, establishing budgets and assessing the needs of the building and the overall impact within the local environment. This job class requires advanced knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
**TYPICAL DUTIES:**
1. *Develop requirements for future planned construction projects, either through input received from customers or by conducting facility condition assessments. Strategize facility improvements to satisfy these requirements.
2. *Author statements of work and Facility cost estimates to accurately convey requirements to potential construction contractors. Present project description and requirements to stakeholders and other disciplines for concurrence.
3. *Review submittals provided by construction contractors, especially for adequacy of design and provide appropriate responses, approval/disapproval and recommend way ahead/action based on technical evaluation.
4. *Oversee execution of facility construction/renovation projects once awarded to a construction contractor by contracting agency. Review project drawings and construction schedule, ensure consistency with design plans.
5. *Ensure proper closeout and training of completed projects. Ensure completed construction is capitalized, training on maintenance is given and manuals as-built drawings etc. are retained on file.
6. *Deconflict competing construction requirements, ensure ongoing projects are advertised to client and base population to minimize mission impact, work with impacted parties to provide alternative solutions during interruptions.
7. *Provide updates to base leadership on forthcoming projects and requirements under development, identify when guidance or direction is required from client leadership to ensure final project satisfies high-visibility requirements.
8. *Respond to emergent facility crises that require engineering and/or technical input, help develop and present solutions needed to correct failed/failing infrastructure systems.
9. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
- Five or more years of proven architecture experience with strong portfolio to prove artistic skill;
- Two or more years of working knowledge with AutoCAD software;
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria or similar facility/building costs;
- Ability to read project drawings, use computer aided drafting/design software, provide project renderings;
- Ability to provide thorough and accurate assessments of facility conditions;
- Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards;
- Strong imagination and the ability to think and create in three dimensions;
- Visual awareness and an eye for detail;
- Drawing skills and familiarity with design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch Up, 3d Studio VIZ;
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;
- Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
- Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
- Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
- Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;
- Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;
- Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

**JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES**
*Architectural Owner Design Guidelines Manager*This role is responsible for the oversight, documentation and maintenance of the Architectural and Interior Design related Owner Design Guidelines. Key responsibilities include managing and updating specifications and systems-based guidelines, including coordinating with internal SMEs and interested parties. This position will collaborate with internal project teams, consultants, and other responsible staff as well as industry contacts to ensure our ODGs are current.

The position will collaborate with internal project teams and consultants to ensure consistent and efficient documentation of finishes across projects. This includes assisting in the strategic assignment of finish codes for new and renovation projects, reducing variability and supporting asset tracking through structured data tools.
Experience with BIM/Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and/or databases or asset management platforms is desired. The role participates in developing and maintaining a centralized finish inventory system similar to an FF&E database, ensuring real-time access to finish data across planning, design, and maintenance teams.
