The Schwab Cybersecurity Services (SCS) organization is a centralized Center of Excellence (COE) within Schwab Technology Services (STS) that provides security services to advance Schwab's security posture of critical assets.
Application and Data Engineering organization within SCS owns the strategy, design, development, implementation and support through automation and orchestration for achieving high security and performance, increasing efficiency, and eliminating manual repetitive tasks in cyber operations and business process within SCS. We are looking for the right candidate to join our team as a **Security Software Development Engineer** with responsibilities that include:
+ Designing, building orchestration and automation solutions using Google SecOps platform.
+ Designing and developing end-to-end secure log ingestion pipelines, ensuring data is accurately parsed, normalized, and enriched for analysis within the SIEM.
+ Collaborating with Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts to develop, assess, and tune high-fidelity detection rules, analytics, and correlation searches.
+ Developing, implementing, and maintaining automation playbooks and workflows to streamline security operations and accelerate incident response and triage.
+ Integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into security workflows. Leveraging Google's AI services (e.g., Gemini for Security Operations) to enable intelligent, context-aware next generation automation solutions.
+ Creating comprehensive technical documentation. Generate reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of automated security controls.
+ Positively influencing the behavior of peers and building relationships with other teams independently.
+ Working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluating specific factors.
**What you have**
**Required:**
+ 5 to 8 years of direct experience in cybersecurity engineering, with experience in SIEM/SOAR development.
+ Proficiency in Cloud service implementation preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services
+ Strong programming skills in Python for scripting, automation, and API integrations.
+ Ability to analyze security event data, troubleshoot complex issues related to log sources, and fine-tune detection logic.
+ Ability to thrive in dynamic and fast-paced team environments
+ Exposure and strong interest in cloud AI/ML frameworks
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
+ A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
**Preferred:**

**POSITION SUMMARY**
The Principal Software Development Engineer, reporting to the Executive Director Software Engineering, will work with High Visibility Enterprise teams to develop and execute Enterprise Solution Strategy.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be directly developing and landing Specialty dispensing pharmacy Initiatives. This lead technical role will compile, research technologies across the organization into one cohesive Technical Roadmap and in addition, will create Proof of Concepts that will improve projects that will address our customer challenges. Furthermore, the Principal Engineer role includes closely working with a team of engineers to drive delivery excellence, partner with business and other IT leaders to build digital assets, provide expert level support to resolve complex issues and provide RCA, identify gaps in systems in current digital eco system and provide solutions to enhance overall performance.
This is the one of the most senior technical positions in a ~100+ person development organization focused on Prescription Dispensing. The incumbent will be a seasoned technologist AND have the executive skills to lead others, communicate with exceptional clarity, and develop culture. While the role has no direct staff, it is a member of the leadership team. The role is equal parts technical and employee organizational. CVS Specialty Dispensing supports 20+ front end and backend pharmacies.
The incumbent will execute on the activities below:
_Architect (40 % of Time):_
Establish and ensure adherence to technical direction, standards, guidelines, and methodology for use of specified technologies in the department. Then lead the Technical Advisory council that performs application architectural reviews on department initiatives. Partner with teams and serve as subject matter expert to provide benchmarked solutions to multiple, complex technical projects/initiatives within own area of expertise and organize cross-departmental application architectural solutions. Influence the technical standards and tool selection for the entire the company. Collaborate with Pharmacy Tower Architecture and Enterprise Architecture for integrated infrastructure designs. Vendor technology evaluation and influence. Work with external development firms to evaluate the strength of their platforms as candidates for selection to be added to CVS' environment. Influence the vendors' technical direction to align with CVS'. Architect for backward/forward compatibility and insulation from the short comings of vendor software.
_Visionary & Strategist (10% of Time):_
Develop and improve strategic technical direction for functional areas. Maintain the departmental strategic multi-year roadmap and author new additions to it. Align with the Enterprise technology roadmap and extend it to include technology useful to the Specialty department. Use quantitative measures to guide architectural priorities. Engage senior technical and business leaders in the development of the technical roadmap then present the results. Keep abreast of technological trends in the industry and determine if useful and/or feasible (i.e. financial impact) and make recommendations to the organization. Build the business case for new tools and drive the funding process. Then lead Proof Of Concept (POC) initiatives to evaluate technologies. When new technologies / techniques are selected, then manage the integration, cultural adoption, and transition.
_Standard Setter (5% of Time):_
Lead matrixed application Technical Leads in the development and implementation of application standards through all parts of the Specialty Dispensing architectural stack. Facilitate experts in a variety of disciplines: Angular, Java, Oracle, Public & Private Cloud, Rules Engines, Open Source & Proprietary frameworks, etc. to work on how methodologies and standards will be defined.
_Technical Program Leader (40% of Time):_
Act as the most senior technical contributor on strategic initiatives. During some periods leading (e.g. defining sensible sets of functionality to be grouped into projects of a multi-year program) and other times supporting (e.g. providing application architectural designs with the Technical Lead on the project). Engaged in a multi-million dollar, multi-year dispensing pharmacy system creation. Be deeply personally engaged in the success of this program.
_Process Development and Adoption (5% of Time):_
Identifies necessary process changes for the department and methodically implements them. Leads the department's DevSecOps maturity journey. Progresses the Unit and QA Test Automation processes in collaboration with the Quality Assurance organization to "shift left". Selects and implements the tooling for the Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment pipeline across all technology stacks (i.e. Angular, Java, Oracle). Surveys other departments, enterprise initiatives, and the industry for best practices for the department to adopt.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 10+ years of hands-on information technology experience in systems analysis, application design, application development, and application program development with leading teams
+ 7+ years of development experience in the following languages: Java, Python, Spring Boot and some hand-on working knowledge of JavaScript, AngularJS, and/or NodeJS
+ 5+ years of experience in building or leading large-scale applications
+ 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise cloud initiatives and solutions with cloud computing technologies and have a track record developing in GCP/AWS on a public cloud environment

**Position Summary**
The Staff Software Development Engineer is responsible for the techno-functional impact analysis, design and code construction activities associated with development of software releases for the CVS Retail Pharmacy systems. Strong technical, functional, and interpersonal skills are key to perform this role successfully. The current suite of systems includes multiple applications including, but not limited, to the Tier 1 systems for Retail Pharmacy (RxConnect). As a Staff Engineer, you will partner and collaborate with the development manager, business analysts, architects, quality assurance, business partners, developers, and project managers to deliver business change and innovation into our Java based business applications software. You will be involved throughout the entire development life cycle of a product and must be able to deliver an efficient solution, as well as identify and properly mitigate any risks to the product before deployment to production.
**Required Qualifications**
+ 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications
+ 7+ years of experience with backend development in Java-based technologies
+ 7+ years of experience working in cloud based technologies using frameworks like Spring, Springboot, Kafka, Redis
+ 7+ years hands on system design experience with mission critical applications
+ 5+ years of experience with Azure, GCP or other public cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SaaS application development/support, CI/CD practices, containerization, Kubernetes, and Agile/DevOps methodologies
+ 5+ years experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Rally, or equivalent product engineering collaboration tools
+ 7+ years of experience working in large scale applications, with large scale dataset & transaction volume
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 10+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications
+ 3+ years of experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain
+ Master's Degree
+ Experience working with Monolithic as well as Microservices based system
+ Extensive experience with building and driving adoption of software engineering best practices
+ Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures
+ Strong work ethic, self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
+ Mastery of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
+ Command of architecture, design, and business processes
+ Passion for innovation, with a customer-centric mindset focused on delivering exceptional user experiences
+ Experience working with distributed teams, working across multiple time zones and geographies
+ Ability to influence and inspire teams to align technical direction
+ Ability to create and execute innovation roadmaps
+ Ability to learn/work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space
_Technology:_
+ Expert Java programming knowledge on latest JDK versions, Spring framework
+ Knowledge of open-source packages especially those provided by Apache, Google, and Spring
+ Database knowledge - SQL, NoSQL, table structure, data relationships
+ Familiarity with GraphQL/gRPC
+ In-depth experience with building application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks
+ Experience with API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications
+ Extensive experience on Monolith to Microservices Migration
+ Extensive experience of Microservices Patterns and its right implementation
+ Extensive experience of the Cloud Native Development practices and 12 factor apps development
**Education**
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
**Pay Range**
The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $284,280.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
