**Minimum Experience:**
**Required:** 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

The primary purpose of this position is to provide ASL-English interpreting for students, parents, staff, and community members at the Minnesota State Academies, including classes, related service sessions, contract negotiations, meetings, field trips, athletics, campus events, and other activities as assigned, including occasional community interpreting assignments.
This position also promotes knowledge and understanding of deaf culture and communication accessibility expectations, including mediation of multiple cultural norms and information through work with the public (i.e., Faribault Public Schools, community events, and so forth).
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification
+ Knowledge and skills in educational interpreting (classes, IEP meetings, academic support)
+ Experience and skills in ASL-English interpreting in a classroom setting and professional settings such as IEP meetings, workshops, administrative meetings, legislative presentations, etc.
+ Advanced Sign communication level as demonstrated in the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) or the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) - must successfully complete SLPI/ASLPI rating within 6 months of hire.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ At least three years of experience interpreting for administrators and other professionals.
+ Experience with mentoring and/or supporting development of new interpreters.
**Physical Requirements**
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
At times, this position will work at events/during activities which may involve a considerable amount of walking.
**Additional Requirements**
This position requires successful completion of the following:
