Overview
Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Memorial Hospital Shiloh , a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.
The Cardiovascular Unit of Memorial Hospital is a diagnostic and therapeutic services department. Services delivered are based upon direct physician orders and are available in both the in- and out-patient setting.

Overview
Missouri Baptist Medical Center , an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Our ECHO & EKG Lab is growing and we have Full-time inpatient and ER Opportunities available with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.
Schedule: The Hours of operation for ECHO are variable – Must be available from 7:30a – 5pm - Must be flexible to work extended hours when needed.
Call: On call, which includes weekends and holidays. Weekend starts at 5:30pm on Friday and ends at 7:00am on Monday
Must be present/on-site within 1 hour of call.
Travel: 1-2 times a month, rotational - occasionally we travel with a portable ultrasound machine to a continuing care facility across town to perform echoes.
Registry: Multi-credentialed sonographers must have one of the following credentials: RCS- Registered Cardiac Sonographer through (CCI), or RDCS Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer through (ARDMS) , RVT or RVS .
Education: Graduate of an accredited Technical or Associates degree program in Radiology and (2) years’ professional experience with intermediate level echocardiography or vascular skills.
Desired skills: MUST BE proficient in transthoracic echocardiography. Teach and share knowledge base with both fellows team members as well as participate in training Cardiology Fellows, and students during clinical rotations, familiarity with Philips iE33/EPIQ systems

The Cardiac Sonographer 2 performs basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound services. These include transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress tests for adults. These tests help diagnose and assess cardiac abnormalities. General duties include preparing equipment, prepping patients, and explaining procedures. They also review images, report findings, and evaluate patient history. This helps identify the purpose of the examination. They frame the clinical question the exam should answer and expand the exam as needed.
Essential Functions of the Role
Prepare patients for procedures and obtain their clinical history. Include cardiac-related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data. Adapt imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms. This helps reduce the chance of incorrect clinical interpretation.
Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques. Make necessary measurements for accurate, high-quality results.
Identify and define cardiac abnormalities. Extend the examination scope as needed. Deviate from standard techniques when necessary. Correlate invasive and noninvasive cardiac test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
May assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies. This aids them in proceeding with complex procedures to decrease risk factors.
Assist in performing transesophageal studies with cardiologist, calculating appropriate measurements and sterilizing probe.
Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate.
Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
Work closely with the cardiac sonographer quality coordinator to ensure adherence to quality processes and protocols. Assist with ICAEL accreditation activities as delegated.
Implement protocols as new technology evolves, and ensure implementation and adherence to system echocardiography standards.
Key Success Factors
Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic methods, instrumentation, and techniques.
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
Ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to the patient and answer patients' questions.
Knowledge of approved clinical protocols for each type of cardiovascular ultrasound examination.
Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians, and nurses.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Skilled utilization of computers and medical equipment.

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.

SUMMARY:
As a Sonographer, you play an important part in high quality imaging exams needed to deliver quality care to our patients. Performs or assists in the performance of Vascular, Abdominal, OB/GYN or Neurovascular Sonography exams. The primary objective is to obtain high quality images and maximize the efficiency of the Radiologist or Neurologist while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a consistent level of quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to appropriately determine clinical question being addressed:
Refers to indication noted on requisition
Reviews patient chart and history
Refers to physician, as needed
Utilizes imaging protocols established by American Society of Echocardiography, ICAEL Echo Standards.
Enters patient demographics on ultrasound machine.
Utilizes proper patient positioning techniques to obtain optimal image
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Effective June 1, 2023: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate OR Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound required for all new hires.
• Appropriate credential in echocardiography from: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
New graduates of a cardiac ultrasound program who are employed in an accredited facility must obtain an appropriate credential within one year from the date of graduation. These individuals must be listed on the application as provisional technical staff who are eligible for credentialing, and must only work under appropriate supervision of a credentialed Sonographer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Prior Sonographer experience preferred.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
