Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Forensics Analyst to support a large federal client. In this critical role, you will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and responding to security incidents across the organization. Your primary role will be to support the incident response mission by collecting and analyzing forensic artifacts. When forensic analyst is not needed this role will work as a Tier 2 analyst and support the incident response team.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end cyber investigations, from detection and triage through forensic analysis and incident closure.
• Perform advanced forensic acquisition and analysis on endpoints, servers, mobile devices, and cloud platforms.
• Act as a subject matter expert for forensic analysis, providing mentorship and guidance to junior incident response analysts.
• Investigate malware, ransomware, insider threats, and nation-state intrusions, correlating host and network evidence to reconstruct timelines.
• Maintain chain of custody and ensure forensic findings meet federal, legal, and evidentiary standards.
• Conduct Tier 2/3 SOC analysis, investigating escalated alerts, false positive reduction, and correlation of SIEM/EDR/IDS/IPS logs.
• Develop detailed forensic reports, executive briefings, and courtroom-ready documentation.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in forensics, mentoring junior analysts and shaping response playbooks.
• Collaborate with SOC, IR, and Threat Hunting teams to improve detection, forensic readiness, and security posture.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred)
• S. Citizenship is required
• 5+ years of experience in technically demanding cybersecurity roles
• 3+ years of experience doing forensic analysis
• 3+ years of experience with forensic tools (EnCase, FTK, Magnet Axiom)
• Previous experience working in a 24x7 SOC environment
• Previous experience in Incident Response roles
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of security frameworks, methodologies, and incident response processes (e.g., NIST, SANS)
• Experience with malware analysis

In this role, you will conduct investigations into computer security incidents and perform forensic exploitation of captured digital media to extract actionable intelligence. The Cyber Crime Bureau (CCB) has an immediate opening for a Digital Forensic Analyst in its High-Tech Analysis Unit (HTAU). CCB is committed to protecting the public by combating sophisticated cybercrime schemes in Manhattan and worldwide. HTAU Analysts conduct digital forensic examinations of devices on criminal cases across the District Attorney's Office - from cryptocurrency and SIM-swapping to sex trafficking, robbery, and homicide cases. In this position, the Digital Forensic Analyst is responsible for providing highly sophisticated technical forensic analytical support to any criminal investigation and prosecution conducted by the Bureau and the office at large.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Perform case intake duties.
-Prepare new case files and chain of custody documentation; label evidence received by laboratory.
-Perform data entry functions by logging evidence into the unit's case tracking system.
-Perform analyses of mobile electronic devices including but not limited to cellular telephones, tablets, GPS equipment, etc.
-Disassemble, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware.
-Prepare forensic images and organize and upload case file images for archival purposes.
-Conduct computer forensic analyses according to case requests/statements of work; prepare detailed reports of findings.

In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:

JOB SUMMARY
Cybersecurity Forensic Analyst, under limited supervision, conducts forensic analysis, data recover, eDiscovery and other investigative work. Analysts assist with cybersecurity event response policies, processes and standards for large and complex environments. They are responsible for comprehensive analysis to include recommending appropriate course of action and escalation to various business areas. They perform various cybersecurity examinations of computers and media to identify user activities and collect evidence as an expert in the area of forensic computer science. They assist with cyber event response by cooperating with third-party incident response teams and law enforcement agencies by providing logs, reports, alert notifications, and other requested information.

This is a role on the corporate cyber incident response team.

Essential Functions

Seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst in Major Crimes to analyze electronic media in support of the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3), focused on sensitive, ongoing criminal investigations and operations.

Using a wide variety of forensic tools, the Digital Forensic Analyst examines the hard drives of computers, storage devices, cell phones, PDA's, or any electronic device that may hold evidence that could be used in a court of law.

Responsibilities:

• Performs forensic analysis of digital information and gathers and handles evidence.
• Performs a variety of forensic and electronic discovery services, including digital evidence preservation, forensic analysis, data recovery, tape recovery, electronic mail extraction, and database examination.
• Employs forensic tools and techniques to crack files and system passwords, detect steganography, and recover deleted, fragmented, and corrupted data from digital media of all types.

Amentum is seeking a Cyber Forensic Analyst to support the Research & Analysis Division of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This contract is in support of FinCEN's work to combat financial crimes, including terrorist financing, proliferation financing, and complex money laundering schemes. Specific details of this position's support to the effort are listed below:

• Conduct financial cyber investigations of complex financial and business records which shall include advanced analytical, technical, and operational support.

• Conduct complete and accurate research and analysis on Cyber-enabled crime methods and trends, including technical methods and money laundering techniques.

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

• Clearance Required: TS with SCI eligibility (Note: US Citizenship required to obtain a clearance)

• Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree and 4-7 years of relevant experience or master's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience.

• Relevant experience includes:

Cryptocurrency investigators or tracers who will analyze blockchain transactions to identify leads or investigative actionable intel for law enforcement. - Apply knowledge of procedures and techniques used in cryptocurrency investigations- Conduct cryptocurrency analysis supporting Federal investigations and prosecutions by using criminal investigative tools such as chain analysis, TRM, and Elementus- Apply knowledge to the enforcement of Title 18, Title 31, and other applicable statutes of the Federal Criminal Code, and the seizure and forfeiture of illegally derived property- Conduct research and analysis using open source information, national and international databases, and corporate record filings to match investigative findings and summarize data into a finished professional product

Our Forensic, Discovery, & Financial Crime offering provides services to support anti-money laundering, discovery, business disputes and investigations. Protect brands from financial crime and other corporate misconduct, as well as enable government organizations with tradecraft & technology to combat emerging and evolving threats.
Required Qualifications
+ 4+ years of total law enforcement investigations experience
+ 1+ years of experience supporting law enforcement with cryptocurrency investigations
+ 6+ months experience with at least one of the following blockchain intelligence tools (chainalysis, TRM labs, Elliptic)
+ Bachelors degree
+ Must be eligible for High Risk Public Trust clearance
+ Ability to report in person to client site 5 days per week
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
