What we're looking for:
•BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or another related field.
•2-4 years of experience with environmental field sampling and data collection
•Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
•Team oriented but able to work independently.
•Light construction experience/hands-on skills a plus.

As a geologist this position will play an integral role in the ongoing success of Core Natural Resources’ operations. Based on the information collected from roof scoping, surface core hole, and underground mapping, create and update comprehensive geologic maps and provide projections for potential geological anomalies and risks.

Assist with geomechanical engineer to provide roof support recommendations for gate road development and longwall retreat to mine management.

Assist with geomechanical engineer to provide geological advice related to the mine’s current and future plans.

Assist with geomechanical engineer for other projects related to geotechnical services.

Assist with drilling activities including core handling, sample preparation, core photos, and sample logging to provide geologic guidance in both production and exploration areas.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or mining engineering preferred.

Prior experience in mine service/production preferred.

Familiarity with geologic mapping skills, sampling skills, and modeling skills.

**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Use your technical and communication skillset to plan and execute geologic and geotechnical investigations, complete geologic and slope analysis and reporting deliverables, and provide field and interpretation support to multidiscipline teams.
+ Perform site inspection and supervision, as required.
+ Work with internal project teams to develop work and support proposal efforts.
+ Lead and manage geologic and geotechnical projects and evaluation tasks.
+ Develop and maintain strong client and contractor relations.
+ Mentoring, coaching, and training junior staff.
+ Travel as required for projects.
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ Strong client, sub-consultant and contractor management experience
+ Strong technical understanding and experience with soil and rock classification, geologic mapping and hazard evaluation, slope stability and landslide field evaluation, , earthworks construction observation, and other geotechnical and geologic field experience
+ Experience with slope stability analysis software (e.g., Slope W/) is desirable
+ Excellent organizational ability, field reporting and report writing, and verbal communication are essential
+ Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
+ Active participation in professional associations
+ Active contributor to technical papers, conference proceedings, committees and technical working groups, will be considered an asset.
+ Good driving record and valid driver's license required.
**Education and Experience**
+ Minimum of a Bachelors' degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geological Engineering from a recognized university; Post graduate degree would be an asset.
+ Minimum of 7 years' experience in geologic consulting, in Oregon and Washington preferred.
+ Registered Geologist or Engineering Geologist in good standing in Oregon and/or Washington, or the ability to obtain the professional designation in OR and WA immediately.

Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
