Job Description
Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to housekeeping, cross training and operator level maintenance in support of equipment operation. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.
1. Reads job specifications (work orders) and/or consults with previous shift operators to determine machine adjustments and material requirements for jobs that will be run.
2. Sets rollers, dies and guides as specified by job requirements.
3. Observes machine operation throughout the line to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
4. Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and makes subsequent adjustments as required to achieve proper dimensions.
5. When a size change occurs, checks and ensures that uncoilers, pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, grinders, saws, and/or sander/polishers are set up properly for new job. Replaces parts and makes adjustments as necessary.
6. Changes rollers in the straightener as required.
7. Generally oversees work activities of Inspector and Material Handlers on his/her line.
8. Performs the functions of Inspector or Material Handler when necessary.
Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
