ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Labor planning and scheduling of inventory control staff – Ensure all activities are completed timely, as labor availability and priorities change, utilizing all personnel effectively. Includes prioritizing and delegating ad hoc requests in cooperation with warehouse operations personnel.

  • Associate coaching and development – Attract, develop, and lead a highly skilled and motivated team, instilling accountability through clear expectations and performance metrics.

  • Apply root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement – Work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improvement and develop/implement best practices/routines. Continuously measure impact and ROI of improvement measures.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and influence – Identify and resolve root causes of inventory losses, working with cross-functional partners to problem solve and implement preventive measures. Consistently analyze and report Inventory Adjustments on a weekly basis, with special attention on trends and key variables impacting inventory performance.

  • Reclamation of vendor packaging issues – Takes ownership of the reclamation process, collaborating with buyers for billback and/or on-site repackaging of product. Review data and analyze for trends.

  • Manage non-saleable (suspense) inventory – Takes ownership of inventory placed into suspense (Fresh to Frozen, recall, damage, etc.) and effectively partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.

  • Review and approve customer credit requests; determine root causes for process improvement and prevent duplication.

  • SOX compliance – Effectively perform controls such as Inventory report review, open delivery route aging and reconciliation reports and 100% quarterly cycle count completion.

  • Lead with a safety, service and cost mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate remains injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.

  • Discuss Inventory Clerk performance with Area Directors, Finance and create plans to address gaps. Drive associate engagement, retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.

  • Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements and monitoring the interviewing and hiring of inventory personnel. Review performance, coach to achieve productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.

  • Identify and stop waste - Improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.

  • Accountable for delivering on our Key Results by collaborating with Operations, Replenishment, Sales, and Merchandising on the Key Outcomes and actions to achieve Inventory Adjustment results.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Works closely across all functions including Ops, Replen, Cat Man, Finance, Legal and other various departments

WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience in inventory control or warehousing

  • Strong understanding of inventory control procedures

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.)

EDUCATION

**SUMMARY**
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement in inventory processes and ensuring optimal parts availability and service levels in alignment with organizational standards. Utilizing key inventory control methodologies such as Kanban, this role oversees and supports the inventory management team while also delivering training and guidance to field parts personnel. Acting as a strategic partner to operations managers and staff, the Inventory Control Manager plays a vital role in overseeing enterprise-wide parts inventory management, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and operational excellence.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Inventory Management & Operational Excellence**
+ Oversee all service parts inventory across the enterprise, including the Piqua Distribution Center, Hobart Service Branches, and technician trucks.
+ Direct master scheduling for finished goods and accessories and lead the development of inventory objectives and annual operating plans.
+ Establish and manage KANBAN-based replenishment systems for kits and purchased parts, ensuring timely availability and flow.
+ Monitor and implement engineering changes to maintain accuracy in assembled kits and purchased materials.
+ Drive strategic inventory initiatives, including supply market analysis, new part introductions, and continuous policy improvement.
+ Develop and maintain tools such as the "Branch Inventory Scorecard" to monitor and optimize inventory at the branch and truck level.
**Training & Field Support**
+ Act as a liaison between inventory functions at the Piqua Distribution Center, field branches, and service trucks to ensure cohesion, consistency, and visibility across the enterprise.
+ Partner with the field organization to ensure parts inventory is optimized at all levels (distribution center, branches, and trucks) to meet organizational service goals.
+ Provide proactive, ongoing training and communication to parts personnel and operational managers in field locations, reinforcing best practices in inventory control and continuous improvement.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
+ Lead a cross-functional effort with purchasing and strategic sourcing teams to assess risk, analyze inventory, and establish inventory strategies across all channels-supplier, Distribution Center, branch, and truck levels.
+ Partner with Purchasing on SKU rationalization based on sales trends, cost analysis, and viable substitutions.
+ Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to support accurate implementation of product changes and financial planning related to inventory.
**Strategic Mindset & Accountability**
+ Provide a proactive and holistic view of inventory performance and trends-actuals, mid- and long-term goals-in terms of dollars, SKU count, and inventory turns.
+ Identify root causes of inventory deviation through cause-and-effect analysis and drive corrective actions across functional areas.
+ Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to Materials Management; follow up to reinforce consistent execution.
+ Own the financial goals associated with inventory including working capital targets and inventory grading reserves.
**Leadership & Team Development**
+ Lead, develop, and mentor the inventory management team, supporting both day-to-day execution and long-term talent development.
+ Provide guidance and support on special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
+ Educate, coach, and mentor functional managers, field operational leadership, and parts coordinators/administrators on the principles and practical application of inventory management tools and methodologies.
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
+ This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the ITW's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, coaching for performance, and resolving problems.

Education and Work Experience
+ Bachelor's degree in supply management, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management.
+ Strong knowledge of materials management principles and inventory control methods.
+ Background in high-velocity spare parts warehousing, with an understanding of rapid inventory movement and demand planning.
+ Solid analytical, mathematical, and decision-making skills with a focus on inventory performance, forecasting, and root cause analysis.
+ Proficient in project management and budget oversight, including inventory reserves and financial targets.
+ Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, MSQuery, Access, PowerPoint) and experience with inventory/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
+ Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Certifications and Licenses
+ APICS certification is preferred. Candidates without certification but with relevant experience or a willingness to pursue certification are also encouraged to apply.

The Manager, Inventory Control is responsible for managing inventory and is a leader to the Finance and Supply Chain functions. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Labor planning and scheduling of inventory control staff - Ensure all activities are completed timely, as labor availability and priorities change, utilizing all personnel effectively. Includes prioritizing and delegating ad hoc requests in cooperation with warehouse operations personnel.
+ Associate coaching and development - Attract, develop, and lead a highly skilled and motivated team, instilling accountability through clear expectations and performance metrics.
+ Apply root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement - Work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improvement and develop/implement best practices/routines. Continuously measure impact and ROI of improvement measures.
+ Cross-functional collaboration and influence - Identify and resolve root causes of inventory losses, working with cross-functional partners to problem solve and implement preventive measures. Consistently analyze and report Inventory Adjustments on a weekly basis, with special attention on trends and key variables impacting inventory performance.
+ Reclamation of vendor packaging issues - Takes ownership of the reclamation process, collaborating with buyers for billback and/or on-site repackaging of product. Review data and analyze for trends.
+ Manage non-saleable (suspense) inventory - Takes ownership of inventory placed into suspense (Fresh to Frozen, recall, damage, etc.) and effectively partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
+ Review and approve customer credit requests; determine root causes for process improvement and prevent duplication.
+ SOX compliance - Effectively perform controls such as Inventory report review, open delivery route aging and reconciliation reports and 100% quarterly cycle count completion.
+ Lead with a safety, service and cost mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate remains injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.
+ Discuss Inventory Clerk performance with Area Directors, Finance and create plans to address gaps. Drive associate engagement, retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.
+ Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
+ Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements and monitoring the interviewing and hiring of inventory personnel. Review performance, coach to achieve productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
+ Identify and stop waste - Improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 5 years of experience in inventory control or warehousing
+ Strong understanding of inventory control procedures

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Control Manager to join our team at a fast-paced snack food manufacturing plant. This role is essential to maintaining accurate inventory data, supporting production efficiency, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be proficient in NetSuite and RFSmart, have experience with cycle counting processes, and possess strong leadership skills to oversee inventory count procedures and process and support cross-functional coordination.


Key
Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure daily accuracy of inventory data within NetSuite ERP system.
  • Use RFSmart to conduct real-time inventory counts, track transactions, and maintain warehouse data integrity.
  • Implement and maintain a robust cycle counting process, including root cause analysis of variances and follow-up actions.
  • Oversee the completion of all production work orders in NetSuite.
  • Manage variance reporting, comparing the actual usage to the expected usage.
  • Work with production team to resolve all discrepancies and make necessary corrections.
  • Coordinate with Plant Accountant, Corporate Procurement and Corporate Inventory to review results of cycle counting program and implement process changes and enhancements.
  • Oversee and train a team of inventory control clerks, ensuring standard procedures are followed and KPIs are met.
  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, and quality teams to investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present regular inventory reports and performance metrics to the plant manager and corporate inventory team.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assist in year-end physical inventory processes.
  • Champion inventory best practices and drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, overstock, and stockouts.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements as related to inventory storage and handling.


Work Environment

  • Onsite daily at snack food manufacturing facility, with the ability to travel between Conover, NC and our Lincolnton, NC plant and distribution center locations.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to cold storage, raw materials, packaging areas).
  • Occasional extended hours during audits, inventory events, or production surges.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control or supply chain management, preferably in a food manufacturing or CPG environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of NetSuite and RFSmart systems (or experience with RFID scanning tools and management).
  • Proven experience managing or leading a small team.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing work orders, production consumption tracking, and BOM (Bill of Materials) structures.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and identify discrepancies or process gaps.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; comfortable in a dual reporting structure.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on, and collaborative environment.
  • Working knowledge of food manufacturing safety and quality standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP) is a plus.
